Kilan is on the run. From men he knows all too well in a forest he does not know well enough. And running into that tree didn't help. But when he wakes up, the forests are the least of his concerns. Kilan finds he has stumbled upon a castle, hidden deep in the woods, filled with servants and young masters who feel like they might just be more then they seem. And there are the thorns. Thousands upon thousands of thorns that cover the grounds and yet only cover one tower - why? And what about the dreams? The girl in the rose room? She seems so real, almost familiar, and yet he can only see her when he sleeps within the castle walls. She isn't there and he has not the time for a Sleeping Beauty. He has other things to contend himself with, in reality - in the waking world. His most prized possession is gone. A story book that means the world to him is lost within the forests - or worse, someone has their hands on it. Above all, it must be found, he has no time for a girl in dreams and the curse placed upon her - he writes fairy tales, he does not live them. He must find the book and be away from the strange Rose Castle. But someone has already noted his presence and has taken an interest in him. Rosalia is used to enchantment. With a brother who freed a beast and a friend who slept for over a hundred years, coming across enchantment doesn't phase her much. At least, it doesn't phase her when she's not directly dealing with it. But when she meets a talking frog and he ends up coming home with her, that changes things. Of course, after having been on the run for her life, meeting a talking frog wasn't as much of a surprise as one would expect on that particular day. But what does The Frog want? Does he really just want to spend time with her? And a better question, HOW can this frog talk? Besides that, there's him. Mr. Ernest Cliffwood. Charming and attentive and new, his sights apparently set on Rosalia but she's seen that playboy attitude from other rakes of the Ton and knows to be wary even if everyone else sees a marriage on the horizon as The Season gets into full swing. And there's one more person - more mysterious then Mr. Cliffwood. He appears and disappears in and out of the waltzing crowds as easily as if by some enchantment. What are his intentions? Who is he? Who is Mr. Cliffwood. How do I Write? Well on average, I sit down and hope the characters do their job and tell me a story. But if we ignore the lack of discipline in my writing style and my characters, there are a few bits and pieces I've picked up along the way over the last 9 years and 10 novels. How to plot? How to add depth to a character?How to paint a backdrop? So on and so forth?I've come up with little ways around each of these questions. While my tricks may not work for everyone, I hope it will help spur your stories from the mind to pen to the paper to the public's bookshelves. A vampire raised by humans, an OCD elf, a hyper active werewolf and a grumpy angel have six months to reach a forsaken realm called The Firelands (formerly The Dragon Realm).Should be simple right?Its not like they have a group of hunters of their tail, have to find four mostly-unhelpful dragons and, in general, don't get along with each other. Nah, this will be easy. Can't be that hard to escape the goblin tunnels. A giant who fancies himself a chef can't be that much of a threat.
