2018 is coming to an end. Dec isn't sorry to see the worst year of his life go, ready to get back to normal - well, as normal as life can be with a baby on the way.2019 holds a lot of promise: the new challenges of parenthood; plenty of chances to spend time with Ant again; and a clear head to focus on the problems Stephen buried to help with his own. Because Dec knows those will be back too - and that's not a promise, just a threat.Dec/StephenSequel to 'The world, coming down', 'As we fall apart', 'I would start a riot', 'If I could shelter you' & 'When we lose it all'…
In the beginning, it was the two of them sharing a smile that meant very little to anyone who saw it and something else entirely to the two of them. Dec had a lovely smile; a pink tip of tongue barely visible between straight rows of teeth, his eyes ignited with whatever emotion that had drawn the expression across his face.In the beginning it was the two of them, lying side by side (his flat, not Dec's, because he lived alone). His hair would be a bit on the wild side, every strand out of place as it pressed against the pillow, but Dec would look at him as if they could pretend there was nothing wrong. But in the beginning, it was the 90s, and no amount of endearing imperfection could hide the glaring prejudice of the world around them.Dec/Stephen…
This is my place to put oneshots/shorter multi-chapter things that I write about Ant, Dec and StephenMostly hurt/comfort and fluff, probably some angstFeel free to suggest some ideas if you have any and I might just use them to procrastinate from the things I'm meant to be doing!…
Even when things had been tough before, Dec had been ready for the steps that came next. Steps towards moving in together, towards the altar and now, slowly, towards building a family. But he hadn't been ready for the toxicity that leaked from Stephen's own family and he wasn't ready for the stomach-dropping vertigo that came when the world was ripped from beneath his feet.Dec/StephenSequel to 'The world, coming down', 'As we fall apart', 'I would start a riot' & 'If I could shelter you'…
Since the proposal, things have been easier. Dec is going to spend the rest of his life with Stephen and the permanence of a promise like that is more reassuring than he ever expected. But with the wedding looming and plenty of obstacles still to overcome, some things aren't as simple as digging out a plaster from the bathroom cupboard. And at a time when it would be nice if life was just a little easier, some things become more complicated than ever.Dec/StephenSequel to 'the world, coming down', 'as we fall apart' & 'I would start a riot'…
When he was younger, back when it had all been a secret, Dec had felt strangely brave. He knew Stephen had too, like that time he told him he'd felt invincible. With everything out in the open, the courage was coming back and they were starting to settle into their new existence. There were new challenges but also new freedoms. And one familiar face from the past to threaten it all...Dec/StephenSequel to 'the world, coming down' & 'as we fall apart'…
"Maybe it would be best if...""What's that supposed to mean?""I don't think I can do this anymore."It felt like it came out of nowhere. They'd had a lot to contend with for a long time but still, after it all, they'd had each other. Until they didn't.Pressure was building for Dec to find a relationship the media would be happy with. Stephen was still trying to deal with his family. And then there was just the small matter of that photo...Dec/StephenSequel to 'the world, coming down'…
One way or another, Dec had been captivated by it all; those eyes, that smile, his somehow calm but chaotic energy. He was captivated. Enthralled. Desperate to live the life he couldn't help but fantasise about.Even if, in reality, it wouldn't be the perfect, picket fence existence he imagined. Even if the world would come falling down over and over again. Even if everything went wrong...It would all be worth it in the end.Dec/Stephen…

He no longer felt the water surrounding him.He didn't register his own heartbeat. He didn't really feel as if he was anywhere at all.~~~One act and the aftermath it leaves behind when everyone wishes they hadn't hoped to see something more exciting...…
