CHAPTER 11

Eric

A few weeks went by, and the project was finally complete and ready for my presentation at the conference in Miami this weekend. The weekends went by quick, with Miss Harper. I pleasantly got to know her slightly better, and she seemed like a genuine, kind person with a real quirky side.

I even got used to her as my shadow, following me to every meeting. She seemed to be living in a dream world however, when it came to romance. Like she was waiting for her knight in shining armor or something. She doesn't know the harsh reality of what relationships can bring.

I leaned back in the leather black seat, a stack of contracts waiting for me at my desk. I sipped on my hot black coffee, Miss Harper had made for me, and gazed out the window, watching the working world passing by.

I looked up to my office door, a soft knock came through.

"Come in." I instructed.

Strawberry blonde hair whisked inside. "Hey Eric." Rebecca greeted.

"Rebecca." I smiled and got up, walked up to her and kissed her on her forehead.

"Are you avoiding my text messages and calls?" She said folding her arms against her green blouse that hung loosely on her body. "Do I have to track you down at work."

"Rebecca, baby... of course not." I smirked. "I'm just loaded with work as you can see." Waving a hand at my paper-stacked desk.

"Are we still on for dinner tonight?" She asked.

"I'm sorry baby, work got me chocked up."

"Am I going to see you at least this weekend?" She persisted, her hands firm on her hips.

I sighed and rubbed my eyes. "I forgot to let you know, I'm going to Miami, the conference is this weekend."

She sat at the edge of my desk, and crossed her slender legs revealing a slit up her tight skirt. My eyes trailed up her legs to her thighs. I smiled suggestively.

"You're making this difficult Rebecca," I growled and grabbed her around her tiny waist, gripping her ass in my hands.

She placed a hand on my chest and dragged her index finger down, tracing my shirt. She slid her hand lower and lower, over my trousers' belt and down the front, brushing over my dick. It twitched under her touch.

"I'm checking to see how long it takes for you to get hard." She teased.

"I think you'll find quite quick." I replied, my stiff arousal fully poking out.

She chuckled and placed her lips on mine. We kissed for a moment, but I pulled back looking at her. "Why am I always so horny whenever I'm around you."

"It's because you miss me," she said. "Do you know how wet I am right now?" She whispered hot against my ear.

I cracked my neck, licking my lips in anticipation for what was about to come.

"Turn around." I ordered.

She obeyed and I pushed her against my desk, her round ass facing me. Rebecca moved her hips against my arousal and I slightly moaned, while I unbuttoned the first two buttons of her blouse and slid my right hand cupping her left breast.

She moaned.

"You like that?" I said against her cheek.

She nodded.

I started to massage her breast and softly squeezed her peaked nipple. Rebecca came forward for another kiss but was interrupted by the loud beep on my receiver. I knew it was a message from Harper. I didn't know why but I sighed a relief. It was a reminder for the meeting, and I had to get going to avoid being late.

I stopped what I was doing and turned Rebecca around.

"Sorry babe, but I'm gonna have to take a rain check." I apologized. "I got to get to a meeting in 30 minutes and it's downtown."

Her flushed face pouted and gave me puppy dog eyes.

"I'll make it up to you." I said.

"You better Eric Bolton." She breathed and straightened her skirt.

I walked with her to the door.

After Rebecca left, I called Harper to get us going, since I sent my Mercedes-Benz at the repairs this morning. Harper was to drive us.

She seemed anxious all the way to her vehicle.

"What's wrong with you?" I asked, as I buckled my seatbelt in the passenger seat. I eyed the old Ford, it was small inside, my legs felt cramped. Damn, maybe I should have just ordered a taxi instead. This was going to be an uncomfortable ride. I just didn't know how uncomfortable it was going to get.

"I'm not the best driver?" Harper said, somewhat nervous. "So, I drive very safe. And very slow."

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

"I get really nervous, so I'm very cautious." She continued; her fingers clutched tight to the steering wheel.

I shook my head. "Like how nervous? How the hell did you get here." I asked.

She sighed. "I got here just fine thank you." She snapped. "I more nervous, now that you're seated here right next to me, breathing down my neck and judging me."

What the fuck!

"Just drive Harper, fuck." I finally said, checking my Rolex. We were already running late.

She nodded and gulped...Hard.

She reversed out of her parking bay, jerking a few times. She shifted the gear into one and began to drive. Her driving seemed fine until we made it to the stop street up a little hill. She struggled with the gears again and the car rolled slightly back. She placed up the hand break, but the car stopped dead, she started the engine up again.

"What the hell are you doing?" I asked, looking at her, to be honest...I didn't know whether to laugh or be slightly concerned? I chose the latter option. She bit her bottom lip and frowned, completely focused on the old Ford. She got the gears right and drove on. "How were you a designated driver?"

"I had an automatic car back home; I struggle with stick!" She yelled.

I stared at her, my mouth agape.

The drive downtown was slow and steady. Fuck! Wake me up when we get there!

Twenty-five minutes later and ten minutes late, I hurled out the car and huffed up the stairs to my client's office. Thinking of an excuse as to why I was this late. Harper hot on my heels, her face flushed.

An hour later and we walked out the meeting. It was at least a success. I breathed a sigh of relief. The client seemed satisfied with his investments with the company.

We walked outside the office building, the hot sun warming my face as I loosened my black tie.

I turned to Harper, walking beside me. "You lucky you didn't screw up the meeting for me."

"I told you to use a taxi!" She scowled.

I raised a brow. Surprised by her tone, which I oddly found amusing. She saw my reaction behind her huge glasses and lowered her eyes.

"Sorry." She said tight lipped.

What an odd woman. I've never met anybody like her before. What strange things is she going to spring up on me next? I shuddered to think. Maybe if she didn't tie her hair so tight in that damn bun every day, she might let loose. Come to think of it, I don't even know how her hair fully looks like.

I watched her walk ahead of me in a huff. Her hips covered underneath the baggy waisted skirt. It seemed like she had a good figure if she didn't hide it beneath granny clothes buttoned up to her neck.

I caught up with her easily. We hopped down the steps of the building side by side. "Harper, did you make reservations at the hotel for this weekend?" I asked.

She nodded. "Yes, and I confirmed it twice."

"Excellent!" I said smirking. "Who knows maybe you can let your hair down once you in Miami, no pun intended?"

She scrunched her nose and cleared her throat, as I side glanced her.

I couldn't help but chuckle, her responses amused me.

Harper and I returned to her Ford, which was parked awkwardly on the side of the street.

I shook my head.

She walked to the passenger side and opened the door.

"Stop!" I exclaimed.

She stopped, her body already mid-way into the car.

I stretched out my hands. "Give me the keys Harper, there's no way in hell I'm driving with you behind the wheel again."

She breathed out loudly and narrowed her eyes, as she tossed the keys at me to catch mid-air.
