Scarlett

You know when you're on your time of the month and it seems like your emotions are all out of place?

Well I am like that, laying on bed looking at the dark walls, missing my parents.

I think it's 10am now, and I woke up just missing them. I miss the way my mom would shake me playfully until I waked up, or the way my dad would blast loud, horrible music, to wake me up at Sundays.

Or the scrambled eggs my mom would cook for breakfast, and the way that me and my dad would go all ninja when mom made any dessert.

I miss being happy.

I fumble with the black ring my parents gave me at my fifteen birthday that it's on my middle finger.

I miss them so much.

I decide to go to the place where we would spent our Sundays, just the three of us. The beach.

I take a quick shower, dressing gray sweatpants with a champion hoodie and my Nike.

Grabbing my phone and keys I run downstairs to the garage, where the Audi is currently, but making a stop to drink water on the kitchen.

"Hey girl." Sophia grins and I offer her a small smile.

"Morning. I'm heading out." I put the cup on the sink and she frowns at me. "What about lunch, I made cheesecake to dessert."

"Grab a piece for me, I'll come back later, see you." I wave at her and hear her shout a goodbye.

Entering my car I plug my spotify to the radio, putting on shuffle, and letting myself sink on the comfortable black leather seats.

I leave the mansion signing my name and hour at the front gate, and heading to the beach.

I tap on my heel to the beat of Smoking Break by Chance the Rapper, that's blasting from the radio.

You just got to love his songs , it's such a vibe.

The drive to there lasts forty five minutes but I make it in thirty. I got to use all the horses of the beast.

I make a quick stop at the store, my dad would buy some really good cookies. Passing the aisle looking for them I see the yogurts that Mason likes.

I did say I would buy them.

I grab two packs of six, putting them on the bag and head to grab the cookies, and a Coke.

Heading to the beach made a mess of my hair. It's so windy, but it's not cold, so it feels nice. I seat on the sand, eating the cookies, watching some surfers or even families there, just chilling.

My mom loved to stay here until night, she photographed a lot of the sunsets, she loved them.

I love the rain, the smell of rainy days, the droplets of water hitting the windows, and the fresh air,it makes it all magical. It also represents my spirit state.

There's a difference between being happy and distracted from sadness. That's the definition of rainy days for me. The sky still is good to watch, and it feels nice but it's hiding the light of the sun.

I watch a little girl giggling and running from her mother, I smile at the sight.

"Mommie, what is that?" my 7 year old self screams, watching a crab.

"It's a crab. It's pretty isn't it?" my mom picks it up and I run to hug my dad's leg.

"He has tweezers! Let go of it mommie." I scream hugging tighter my dad.

"Oh we should run before it catches us. Come on hurry up!" My dad exclaims faking a concerned face.

My 7 year old screams running away, my dad following behind laughing.

"Kade, stop being a kid! And scaring her!" My mom shouts at him, running behind us, laughing.

I feel a tear falling down my cheek, stopping me from my childhood flashback. I look at the sky, just asking why.

Why them? Why me?

More tears fall down my face and I let them. Putting the hood on my hair a sob leaves my mouth.

Just fucking why? We were so happy. They were everything I had in life, my best friends,my safe place! Why take it from me?

Getting up, I take a deep breath wiping my eyes and cheeks. I walk towards the water enjoying how it hits my feet, since I'm holding the sneakers on my hands.

Walking through the beach, I stop sometimes along the way to grab  shells, that catch my eyes, and throw them the far I can to the ocean.

I do this until the sunset it's over, and night starts to appear.

Checking my phone that I let on the car I see that I have unread messages.

Unknown number:
It's Mason. Where are you?

Seeing that the number is Mason I save the contact on my phone.

Mason:
Kitten?

Mason:
Do I have to send a team to look for you? I'm losing my patience here, Scarlett.

The last one was sent five minutes ago, so before he sends someone, I text him back.

Scarlett:
I'm fine.

Mason:
Fucking finally. Where are you?

Scarlett:
I'll be there in thirty.

Mason:
Answer my question Scarlett.

I choose to ignore him and start to drive back at the mansion.

-------
Forty minutes later I'm putting the yogurts on the kitchen. It's currently 10pm.

Seeing that no one is here I go to the floor of Mason and I's room, knocking on his door. He doesn't answer so I enter and see that his bathroom door is closed.

He must be here.

"Mason?" I knock softly. The door opens and I'm faced with a wet, half naked Mason, his hair messy, and droplets of water falling from it.

Well what a good sight to come to, after a shitty day.

"Finally. Are you ok?" he asks, his brows furrowed. I give him a smile and nod.

"Yep, all good. I bought your yogurts."

"Fuck the yogurts, where have you been?" I could sense some concern in his voice, which shocked me a little.

"I was at the beach, just catching air, you know." I shift on my feet chewing on my bottom lip, looking at my sneakers. Feeling his gentle grip on my chin, he makes me look at his eyes. "What's wrong, kitten?"

"Nothing, just a sappy day. I'm heading to bed I just wanted to let you know that I'm alive." I let a small chuckle and he snorts, leaning his forehead on mine, hands on my hips.

I'm dizzy.

"I won't push it, next time just let me know, yeah?" he whispers and I nod giving him a small smile.

"Good. Now give me a kiss." He pats my ass and I roll my eyes leaning to give him a peck.

He grabs the back of my neck when I pull away. "A decent one, kitten." He smirks and I smile capturing his soft lips with mine.

"That's better." he winks at me when I pull away and I roll my eyes slapping his head. "Idiot."

"Sexy." I scoff, pointing to my oversized hoodie and sweatpants. "Definitely."

"Night kitten." He chuckles and I stuck my tongue out at him, leaving his bedroom.
