When I woke up I was still cuddled up in the hospital bed with V. I'm so glad things turned out differently and she's ok.

Life is short and I know we haven't been together long but I'm in this for the long hall and I want to marry her someday soon.

The nurse walking in pulls me out of my train of thought.

"Violet we need to take you down for a scan and make sure all is ok with your head." She said.

"Ok, then and when can I go home?" She asked.

"We will check with the doctor." Sissy grins.

I get out of her bed and lean over and kiss her lips. I'll be here waiting on you V." I said.

"You better." She smiled pulling me in for another kiss.

"Oh, goodness either your a new couple or just married because that's so mushy." Sissy laughed.

"Newly couple." Violet smiles.

"I'd marry her if she would let me," I said.

She looked at me shocked and then smiled so I winked at her as she got wheeled out of the room.

Once she was out of the room I placed some calls. I talked to Clint and then I called Levi to tell him how Violet was.

By the time she got back to the room, I was watching some football on the small tv on the wall.

"I'm going to show those scans to the dr and I'll let you know if you can go." The nurse said.

"I appreciate it," V said.

"Here is your lunch tray to munch on until I get back. Even extra jello for him." She smiled.

"Thank you so much," V said taking the lid off of the tray.

She motioned me over to sit with her on the bed. She halved her sandwich with me and then, of course, the jello and it was lime of course.

"I let your family know that you were ok and maybe coming home today," I said.

"Thanks Coop. I'm sure my dad was worried. I appreciate you calling him last night. I hate I scared everyone but I'm very thankful I had that vest on." She said.

"I'm glad he didn't know how to shoot a gun correctly," I said.

She linked her fingers with mine. "Me too. I love you, Coop." She smiled.

"I love you too V. You scared me so much and that made me put things in perspective," I said.

"Last night when I woke up the first thing I thought was that I had people looking over me." She said choking up.

I wipe her tears and kiss her. "Who do you think was watching over you?"

"My grandma Alice and Julia." She said.

That teared me up. "Julia knows how much you mean to me and I can't lose you V.," I said pulling her into a hug.

"Same goes for you. I can't lose you, Coop. My heart is yours and I can't even think about that. But now you said you want to marry me I'm ready." She smiled real big at me.

Before I could tell her I'm ready too the nurse comes back in with discharge papers. "You're free to go, Violet," Sissy said.

"Oh great, I'm so ready!" V smiled.

Sissy took the iv out and bandaged her up one more time before wheeling her to my police car.

"I have to say you guys have been my favorite and I admire your work," Sissy said.

"Thank you so much." V smiled getting out of the wheelchair.

Once in the car, we headed to her house so she could get comfy and relax.

"Are we going to work tonight? I really want to interview Benny Gragg." She said.

"I doubt the Chief will let us come in with you just getting out of the hospital. But I can see if we can come in and you interview." I said.

"Ok but first I need a shower or bath or whatever before I do anything." She laughed.

"Yeah, you stink V." I laugh holding my nose.

Once at the house I help her inside and upstairs so she can shower and I went to call the chief.

📞She's good we just got home but umm she wants to come to interview Benny is that possible?

📞I knew that's what she would say. Yeah, she can come to interview him, and then I want her home resting.

📞You got it chief. Cya soon.

I walk upstairs into the bathroom where V still is. "Hey I talked to the chief he said you can come in and interview him but then you are to come back home and rest."

"Sounds good. Thank you, Coop. Will you hand me my towel?" She asked.

I grabbed her towel and when she stepped out of the shower I wrapped her up in my arms and kissed her lips.

"I'm so proud of you and you won't even let a bullet stop you from putting people away," I said.

"He tried to shoot me Coop and I want to know why. I need to know what makes him tick and really if there are more of them out there." She said.

I grab her clothes and help her into them before I throw on my work clothes and as we went to put her vest on I showed her where it hit her at.

She rubbed her finger over the spot and then smiled at me and got on her tiptoes and kissed me.

I got our guns out of the safe and we headed out to the car. "I'm so ready to talk to this dirtbag." She giggled.

"You mean your uncle?" I laugh.

"He's not my uncle. I mean he was Courtney's adopted brother so no kin to me." She said.

"I was only picking at you V." I smiled as we pulled up to the station.

"Let's go kick some ass Coop." She grinned.
