Today was a lounge day for you.

You always felt like shit on your birthday, so all day you've been practicing not getting out of bed. Since it is getting late you were planning to practice sleeping.

You don't know what Levi was up to. The only time you left your room was to get some snacks, and he wasn't there.

You wanted to eat something before you went to sleep so you walked out of your room and headed to the kitchen.

When you walked up the stairs you noticed the smell of something familiar. You ascended to the top of the stairs to find Levi standing, facing the counter, holding a glass of wine.

Ahh, his old friend.

The counter was in front of you, but he was leaning on the other counter behind him. The entire kitchen was dimly lit, the only light spread evenly throughout the kitchen.

His dress shirt had some buttons unbuttoned, exposing his slender neck and a small part of his chest. You both make eye contact with each other and he put his cup beside him.

"Hey," He greeted.

"Hi, did you just come back?"  You asked.

"I've been here for an hour." He replies. It's some minutes past eleven, currently. Usually, Levi would come back by 7 or earlier, if he felt like it.

"Late work?" You assumed. You walk closer to the kitchen, where Levi was because nothing was going to stop you from getting some snacks.

Not even your newfound appreciation of Levi's attractiveness.

"No, I had interviews for a new receptionist, so I stayed later than usual."He explained. He held up a wine bottle. "You want some?"

"Sure, why not." You agreed. "What happened to Arlene?"

"She's my personal assistant now," He stated. "It comes with a pay raise, and I like Arlene."

"Good for her, " You say. Arlene, though timid, seems like a great person. You look inside the cabinet for crackers or something.

After getting the crackers, you stand next to Levi and take the glass he gave you. It was red wine, a very sweet wine that had a hint of sourness to it

Levi looked at you, calmly sipping the glass and staring off into nothing. He took another drink from his glass. "Something on your mind, brat?" He asked.

"Uh, no," You lie. "No, it's nothing

"Tch," Levi sighed. "Bullshit."

You look at him while staying silent. You finish the glass in your hand and pour more from the wine bottle that was suspiciously almost empty.

"Tomorrow is the anniversary of my mom leaving me." You mumble.

You didn't tell him about it also being your birthday tomorrow, and hopefully, he had forgotten that you already indirectly told him, during your conversation in his room.

"Oh really?"  He replied.

You and Levi didn't speak for some minutes. He wasn't pressing you for any more information, but if you wanted to share, he was giving you silence.

He took another sip of his wine and you did as well.

"It still hurts," You admit to him.

"Every year tomorrow, I think about her greatly." You say. "I cry sometimes, whether it's out of sadness, or pure frustration."

"I don't think I'm over it,"

You put the almost empty glass of wine next to you. "And I feel silly for not knowing when I will be."

"I guess that's why I barely talk about her," You trailed off.

Levi finished his glass. "It's not silly, you still don't have your closure,"

"Do you want to watch a movie?"

That was random, but Levi took it as you not wanting to talk about it " Aren't you tired?"

You replied with a, 'No', then asked, 'Are you?', you which he answered, no.

You proceeded to the living room and sat on the couch, waiting for Levi. You heard the sink turn on and figured that he was washing the cups.

I'll just wait for him.

2 minutes passed before Levi came to the living room, only to find you sleeping. "Brat, I knew you were tired."

He lets out a breath, before sliding one arm behind your back and one behind your legs. He lifts you with the support of his arms and carries you to your room.

He tries to place you on your bed but you won't let go. He doesn't use all his strength but he does use more force to pry you off. "Tch."

"Brat," No response.

"Brat." He says in the same irritated tone.

No response.

Levi sighs and holds you in his arms while looking you in your eyes.

"Y/n," He mumbles.

"Hmm?" You say mostly asleep.

"Let go,"

"Ok,"

You slowly move your arms from his neck and he slowly places you down on the bed, as he intended 5 minutes ago.

Levi placed the blanket over you and waited for you to settle before walking to your room door.
Before he left he looked at you peacefully.

"Happy Birthday Y/n," He whispered.

It was 12:02.

❤︎︎--------------------------❤︎︎----------------------❤︎︎

He must've carried me to bed, 'cause I don't remember anything after I sat on the couch.

I think I'll get out of bed this year. Maybe go out instead of being so depressing.

Maybe you would ask Levi if he was doing anything today. He probably was, though it didn't hurt to ask anyway.

After you finished putting clothes on, you walk to see if Levi was in the kitchen. You see him walking to your room.

"Morning," You exclaim. "How'd you sleep?"

"I didn't, " He responded.

"Oh,"

"It's fine, brat." He assures you. " Anyway I made breakfast if you wanted to eat."

"Thanks, Levi," You say with appreciation. "Hey, uh, do you have to work today?"

"No," He replied shortly.

"Do you have anything you need to do today?"

"No,"

"Cool, do you think we-

"Actually, I am going to be meeting with a lot of business people, and stuff like that," He remembers. Levi doesn't feel right about lying to you but it will all be fine in the end.

"Actually I should be leaving soon, " He promptly walks to his room.

"Okay then." You mumble in defeat. You stroll up the stairs to the kitchen. When you came up, you were pleasantly lured in by the aroma coming from the kitchen.

"I know you didn't plan on coming out of your room, but if you did, I bought breakfast, because I know you like those ok-tasting pastries, I got you a few. I didn't know if I would see you this morning, which is why I left the note."

You look to your side and beam when noticing the (pastries).

On the counter, there was a box of (pastries), a plate of croissants, a plate of eggs and strawberries, and finally, a glass of water, accompanied by a cup of tea.

Thanks, Levi.

You easily take one pastry from the box, starting your breakfast. Levi's small act of kindness lifted your mood.

People say that it's easy for one thing or event, to make or break your day. Maybe it would be a good day.

A few minutes later, you hear the front door open and close, signaling that he had left.

———————————

Sasha held the phone to her ear, waiting for it to go through.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Y/n!!" Sasha says happily. "What're you doing?"

"I'm eating, what about you?" You asked

Usually, she was doing the eating and you were doing the talking.

"Oh, what are you eating?"

"Levi got me some pastries for breakfast," You answer her.

Sasha and you didn't speak for a minute you heard some rustling coming from her side.

"Sasha is something wrong?"

"I'm uh, uh-

"Sasha?"

"I'm in front of your house."

You scrunched your eyebrows in confusion. "How'd you get

"Don't worry about small details, y/n."

"What?" You asked.

"Can you open the door, it's kinda cold out here." She says.

"Uh yeah, sure." You agree. You walk down the stairs past your room and out the hallway, to the front door. As soon as you opened it, you were met by a bear hug and a big smile from Sasha.

"I'm also really hungry." She smiles cheekily. You look at her and grin. "Mm-hmm." You reply moving out of the doorway for her to enter.

She heads straight, which leads to the lower balcony. She looks left then right, then at you sheepishly. You shake your head. " Come on, over here."

You lead her to the kitchen and she instantly goes for the croissants. You sigh and sit next to her, watching Sasha devour the flaky pastry.

"These are so delicious," She squealed.

"I can tell," You quip. The way she ate as if the world was kind of cool, but also concerning. "Hey, Sasha you might choke if-

Sasha wasn't sitting next to you anymore. You heard a gasp come from the living room.

"Is that a piano?" She asked, in marvel.

"Yeah," You responded, still confused about how she got her fast without you noticing.

"I've always wanted a piano," Sasha said sitting
on the bench. She played a few random notes. You cringed at the dissonance. "I didn't know Scary Shortman played the piano."

"I don't know if he can, but I can," You explain to Sasha. She turns around to face you, a dramatic expression plastered on her face.

"Can you play something on the piano for me?" She asked.

"Sure, "You sit on the bench next to her and ready yourself to play. Before you could play a key,

"Actually I have to use the restroom, can you tell me where it is?" Sasha asks.

"You can use my-

I mean the guest room, let me show you where it is." You finished. You barely saved yourself from that mistake but you wouldn't dwell on it.

You lead Sasha to your room, I mean, the guest room 😉, and pointed out the bathroom. "Thanks y/n!" She says. You leave her and return to the piano.

"Now all I have to do is place it in the draw and leave." Sasha reiterated to herself.  She opened the empty drawer and place the note inside. Next to the one already inside.

She closed the drawer and exited your, the guest room quietly.

An hour later

Sasha isn't here.

You went to your room to check on her, but no noise came from the bathroom. For 30 minutes you sat there at the door until you realized she wasn't there and you looked stupid sitting in front of a door waiting for someone to shit, even though nobody is in the bathroom shitting.

She didn't answer your calls or texts. She didn't read them either. You wondered if she was playing a prank. You left it alone, being too tired and confused to think about it anymore.

You really just wanted to talk to Levi, it didn't matter what you both talked about you just wanted his company. Levi being here with you was enough.

Right now, you wanted to sleep. Sleeping away the day was a really good plan.

3 hours later.

"Sasha, call her," Levi instructed. Sasha nodded and did as she was told. Levi looked around the empty, beautifully decorated room.

It would be about 15 minutes before guests started arriving, and at least an hour before the driver brings Y/n here, as long as everyone stays on task.

"Uhm Mr. Ackerman," Sasha said. "She's not answering, I think she might be mad."

"Mad?" Levi asked. "Why would she be mad?"

"If you did what you were supposed to, she shouldn't be upset." He spat.

Meanwhile, you were slumped on the carpet floor, resting your back on the bathroom door, dozing away your issues. The only thing you decided to do was shower and then sleep, but you didn't even get up to do that.

Your phone rang again, this time waking you from your sleep. You didn't bother to look at the caller's I.D. "Hello?" You call.

"Y/n!" Sasha exclaimed.

"Sasha?" You asked obviously still tired. "Why-

"Dont worry about me, I left something for you in one of the drawers near the bed, look for it, "

"What, Sasha," You say again. She ended the call.

Your head turns to the closet on the opposite side of the room. You walk to the closet and open it to reveal a white dress, (any design, it doesn't have to be a dress either, just something white you would want to wear to the party).

You walk out of the closet with a smile plastered on your face, holding the garment between your arm and torso.

He knew?  You say to yourself. You put down the dress and pick up the white card. It had additional writing that you didn't read.
