The repeated ringing of the doorbell, cut through the silence of the mansion.

There was no one bustling around, cleaning or cooking something because Jungkook had dismissed all the maids for the week.

So the house was completely silent, with the only two occupants of the house seated in the living room, tense and anxious.

Jungkook slowly got up from the couch he and Taehyung had been sitting on to go and open the door.

There stood the woman they had be waiting for.

Mrs Kim.

Taehyung's mother.

"Good evening, Mrs Kim."

Jungkook said stiffly as he tried not to show his distaste for the woman.

"Good evening, Mr Jeon. Your husband's luggage is in the car, you can take it in, while I talk to my son."

She said, her lips curling with disgust as she said the last word.

"Oh no, it would be very rude of me, to not show you in Mrs Kim. The luggage can wait."

Jungkook said sharply, not liking how the conversation was headed.

Mrs Kim just nodded curtly before walking past Jungkook, into the living room where Taehyung was seated, his leg bouncing with nervousness.

Sighing Jungkook followed after her into living room.

"There you are Jeon Taehyung."

Mrs Kim said sharply, her hands on her hips.

"Mother. Why are you here?"

Taehyung asked, trying to not let his fear be evident in his voice. He couldn't believe he was really having this conversation with his mother.

How could his mother even imagine that he'd do something like that?

If his own mother didn't know him, then who would?

She should know that he was not capable of doing something as despicable as that.

But then again, she never really did care about him, so how would she even know, Taehyung thought bitterly as his mother continued to glare daggers at him.

When would this stop?

When would they finally love him for him and not treat him as an asset or an object or a trading deal?

Suddenly he felt a hand creep into his, interlacing their fingers.

Taehyung peeked to his side to see Jungkook standing firmly by his side, hand clutched in his, in reassurance.

Jungkook turned slightly to look at him, sending him a reassuring smile, telling him that he's going to stand by his side no matter what, before turning back to glaring daggers at the woman who he called mother.

"You know exactly what you've done you ungrateful brat."

Jungkook clenched his jaw hard after that.

How could she even think of saying something like that to Taehyung of all the people.

Taehyung would probably never even hurt a fly.

And Taehyung was one of the sweetest person he had ever met. How could she call him ungrateful?

And a brat?

What the actual fuck?

Someone needed to hold him back from punching her, even though she was a lady, an older lady, and his mother-in-law.

Then, Taehyung just tightened his grip on Jungkook's hand, pulling him back slightly.

"Mother, please be clear on what you are insinuating."

Taehyung said, wishing hard that whatever Jin hyung had said was just a huge misunderstanding and his mother did not actually believe that.

But, as usual, luck wasn't in his favor.

She looked at him with a manic look in her eye, as she growled.

"How could you kill your own father, you ungrateful piece of shit?"

Jungkook swore, how could she even imagine something like that.

How does a mother even think that her own son, would kill his own fucking father?

Was she fucking off her hook?

"I did not kill Father. Why would I even do that?"

Taehyung gasped, choking, not believing that his mother actually just said that.

No it couldn't be true.

Even though he wasn't attached to his father, and resented him for being negligent and indifferent to Taehyung's wishes and dreams, that didn't mean he would kill him.

Yes, the evidences did point at him, but at least his mother should believe in him.

But instead, Jungkook was here on his side, even though they didn't have good first impressions, believing that Taehyung had no hand in his father's murder.

He did not poison him.

Yes, his father didn't die from the bullet.

The bullet wound hadn't been fatal.

He had been poisoned, the wine had been laced with poison.

And his father drank only from his personal flask of wine, which he carried on him and shared only with family.

And everyone knew this, including the press.

That meant, someone close to Mr Kim, a family member, had murdered Mr Kim.

And considering Taehyung's rocky relationship with his father, all the evidence pointed at him.

And the fact that he had left the reception early, just made it worse for him.

"Because he forced you into a marriage you did not want."

She snarled at Taehyung, looking at him as if she was ready to rip him into pieces by her bare hands.

And if it wasn't for Jungkook standing by him protectively, his free hand curled into a fist, she would have definitely hit him at least.

Taehyung's voice wavered as he spoke this time, he couldn't believe his own mother would turn her back at him.

Especially after all that Taehyung had sacrificed for his parents. Only to be called an ungrateful brat and a murderer.

"B-but that is n-not a justifiable reason to k-kill him."

Taehyung gulped in fear, squeezing Jungkook's hand harder, digging the nails into his other palm, trying to calm himself down.

He couldn't slip.

Not in front of his mother.

"Stop stuttering like a pathetic baby. And who else could have?"

Taehyung gasped at that.

Pathetic.

He was pathetic.

No.

But he didn't kill his father. And he needed her to believe that.

He had to try convincing her once more at least.

He wouldn't give up so easily.

"But mother, I would never do that, please believe me."

Taehyung said softly, barely over a whisper, almost begging her.

But she refused to listen.

"No I don't. You've always been such an ungrateful ass, you would go to any extent to get revenge. I am disgusted by you. Don't you dare show your face in front of me ever again."

She screamed at him before storming out of the house.

As she walked out of the door, she yelled once more.

"I'm leaving your luggage in your driveway. Don't you dare come back."

And with that she left.

Jungkook turned to look at Taehyung.

Tears were falling from his eyes, tears streaking down his face.

Jungkook's heart clenched at the sight as he pulled the younger in a tight hug, arms wrapped around his body.

And then Taehyung broke down completely.

And Jungkook could do nothing as he watched him break into pieces in his arms.

No words could ever soothe him right now.

So Jungkook just held him tight in his arms, holding him up as Taehyung's gave out, as he cried and cried and cried.

A single tear slipped out of Jungkook's eyes as Taehyung buried his head into Jungkook's shoulder, hiding away from the world.

But Jungkook never cried. He hadn't since he turned 10.

Nor did he cry when he had gotten his heart broken.

But something about the sight in front of him, something about the boy sobbing in his arms, made him feel something he hadn't in a long time.

But right now, wasn't about what Jungkook felt.

Right now, was to make Taehyung calm down and just be there for him.

So Jungkook softly whispered into his ear,

"Tae, do you want to slip?"

Taehyung sniffed softly, and after thinking for a minute, he nodded softly, hugging Jungkook even tighter, not wanting to let go.

Jungkook smiled softly at the younger's reaction and slowly puled away, untangling their arms to wrap them carefully around his waist, so that he could see Taehyung's face.

"I'll go get your stuff in, Jin hyung said he packed your little stuff also right?"

Taehyung nodded softly, bringing an arm up to wipe a few of his tears away with the back of his hand.

"So I'll go get it. How about you wait here for me, then I'll carry you up? Does that sound good baby?"

Jungkook whispered softly.

Taehyung nodded once more, sniffling before he took a step back, detaching himself from Jungkook's grasp.

"I'll be back in a few minutes angel. Then we'll get you all warm and cuddled up."

Jungkook said softly before he walked out to get the luggage that had been left out in the driveway.
