Something I never understood in life was the way people took it for granted. Saying slang terms like YOLO or Carpe Diem. They say you only live once. But that's simply not true.

You only Die once.

You live everyday. And yet, people are out there living dangerously. Not caring that they will die eventually.

Death always followed me though. It was my opportunity that was always knocking. And my locks weren't holding up that greatly.

Was I dreaming again? I don't know. I thought my dreams were gone. With the pendant that protected me, but glancing down at the necklace, it seemed to be doing nothing but keeping the ancestors out of my head.

I was standing in the living room of the Mikaelson's Mansion. I was home. But nobody was here with me. The eeriness of the quiet made my stomach tighten in fear. I was only human. Could my dreams kill me in the real world? I had no idea.

"Fancy seeing you here." I snapped my eyes up to see the blonde haired man standing there. I took a step back immediately, not even needing to think about it. He held his hand up. "Don't worry- you can't get away even if you run." I flinched as he flashed in front of me. Inches from me. Holding my breath as he smirked at me.

"You don't scare me. You can't hurt me here." The man looked at me, furrowing his eyebrows with a slight tilt of the head.

"I can't?" The next thing I knew I was on the floor, a scream leaving my lips, my cheek stinging as warm blood dripped down my cheek bone. "Hmm-" He kneeled down in front of me. "Seems like I can." He pointed out. "Should probably run now. I love a good game." I swallowed hard as I scrambled up, running out of the house as fast as I could.

Running was not how I thought I'd be spending my dreams. The fact that my body was resisting the extreme workout made me wonder if it was actually a dream. Why was my body resisting so much? The burning in my calves screamed at me. Breathing out my nose as I inhaled through my mouth.

There's no point in running.

I squeezed my eyes shut for a moment as I ran. The voice in my head wasn't my own. But was it ever? Was that normal?

You're not normal.

That's true. I'm not normal. My mates were Vampires. Original Vampires at that.

"I see you." I heard the man speak. I looked around, I was surrounded by trees. My eyes jerked around, looking for the man. "So you just give up? Just like that?" I froze, my breath catching in my throat as an arm wrapped around my waist and a hand went to my throat. My back hit his chest causing my heart to speed up in fear. "You're just as pathetic as that damn bastard boy." He whispered.

"Who are you?" I asked in a shaky tone. The man chuckled into my ear.

"You know- I am not a normal Vampire. I usually don't feed on humans." He admitted, inhaling at my throat. Tears were pulling from my eyes on their own. But I held the cry's down. Not wanting to sound as weak as I actually was. "But you're not exactly human....are you?"

"I-I don't know what you mean." I stammered out. His hand tightened around my throat, halting the air from getting through. "I...human.." I rasped out. Trying to find a way to get out of his hold. But the more I struggled, the tighter his arm got around my waist.

"Are you?" He questioned. What was he saying? Was I not human like I had thought? I wasn't a witch...Definitely not a Vampire or a Werewolf... What else is there? "You really are clueless, aren't you?" He breathed. "Doesn't matter. You're dead." With that I felt his fangs rip into my skin- it was nothing like how my mates bit me. The burning pain exploded throughout my body. A scream pierced through my throat as he bit down harder.

Death was always knocking on my door. Whether it was from running from my mates enemies. Or dreaming of it. I was going to die and I could not get out of Death's grip.

The world went black.
