Finley's P.O.V

I didn't go home.

Well, I did, I just wait straight to the tree outside my bedroom window and up to the roof, where I was now sitting hyperventilating. I feel... I don't know. I don't know what I'm feeling. I'm not going to tell Eli. He's going to freak out and muder Trey and even though he did try to rape me, he apologized.

I had no one to turn to.

Except...

I pulled out my phone, which was now cracked, the bastard, and dialed a number that I hadn't in a long time.

"Hello?" Allie answered.

"Hi," I squeaked. "Um, its me."

"I know, I have caller ID, dummy," she laughed. "What's up?"

"I'm sorry to have called you, with what's up with Luke and stuff, but I didn't have anyone else I could talk to and-"

Allie cut me off with a laugh. "Just because Luke and I are broken up doesn't mean we can still be friends."

"O-Okay," I said flustered.

"What's wrong?" Allie asked, sounding much more like a stern mother than a college partier. "What happened?"

"Someone tried to rape me," I whispered. "But he just tackled me, he didn't touch me or anything."

Allie was quiet for a second. "Fuck," she swore. "Are you okay? Did you tell Eli? Who was it?"

"His name is Trey Fuller," I whispered.

"I'm gnna kill the bastard," she hissed.

"Don't!" I protested.

Allie paused. "Why the fuck not?"

"He didn't actually do anything," I explained. "He just tackled me. He apologized and threw up because he was so guilty and disgusted that he tried to rape me."

"Big deal!" Allie burst out. "So what, he puked? That doesn't mean shit! He probably just had a bad pie for lunch or some shit! He tried to rape you, Lee, this is a big deal."

"But he didn't," I insisted. "He said that he loved me but he knew that I wouldn't have loved him if he went through with it."

"Well, la dee fucking da for him," Allie said. "Okay, honestly, that's so fucked up. Who does that? Apparently this kid, and by doing this, all you're doing is giving permission to do it again, don't you see? Rape is not a light subject, this is pretty damn serious."

"I know its serious," I said.

"Then enlighten me, Lee, on how you just want to skip on home and not tell anyone about this, about how someone almost raped you, for God's sake, and you don't want to report him."

"You weren't there," I tried to explain weakly but Allie cut me off.

"No, I wasn't, but damn, I know that rape is not a normal thing and you should report him, and if you won't, I will, Lee, I swear to God, because this is not normal and unsafe for you and other girls at your school," Allie spat.

I considered this, and realization hit me and I brought my hand up to my mouth. "Oh God," I sniffled.

"Lee?" Allie sounded concerned. "Are you okay?"

Trey tried to rape me. He was going to do it, touch me in places I hadn't even let Eli near, and completely and utterly invade me in the most vunerable way ever. Oh my God.

I think I'm going to be sick.

I retched and clamped my hand over my mouth, trying not to spill my lunch all over the roof's tiles.

"Lee? Finley?" Allie asked. When I didn't answer, she said determidly, "That's it, I'm coming over. Don't move, okay?"

She hung up and I put my phone down slowly. Oh my God. He tried to touch me in a place that I wouldn't even let my boyfriend come near. Oh my God. Why the hell did I think I couldn't report him. So what if he didn't actually do it! He tried, and the only reason he didn't is because I screamed and had an anxiety attack.

This is why I need Allie.

She provides the slap of reality that I need to come back down to Earth and realize the severity of the situations I get stuck in. She made me see things in a clear way and helped me make sense of them. How did I survive this long without her?

Oh right, I lived in my room.

The thought of Trey crossed my mind again and the urge to throw up was too overwhelming. I lost my lunch all over the roof's tiles. I grimaced at the smell of it and moved my hair off my shoulder to get it away from the puke.

Looks like two of us are puking today.

The thought made me want to throw up again.

...

True to Allie's word, I stayed on the roof and watched as she drove up and parked on the street. She got out and waved at me. Halfheartedly I raised my hand in a wave. I watched as Allie suddenly took off in a sprint and ran towards the tree by the side of the house. At about two feet away, she made a giant leap amd grabbed the bottom branch.

Hoisting herself up, she made her way nimbly from branch to branch until she neared the roof and after checking her grip on the branch she was hanging from, she swung onto the roof and landing like a cat.

She made her way to me then collapsed, panting.

"What was that?" I asked, amused.

"Oh that?" She waved an airy hand. "Sorry. I've been watching American Ninja Warrior and wanted to do some ninja work."

I chuckled. "Well, it was pretty nice."

"Thank you," she said, putting some of her curly hair behind her ear. "I try."

I bit my lip as I stared down at my hands. After hanging up, I had done a bit of crying as realization had hit me like a semi.

"Hey," Allie touched my shoulder gently. "You okay?"

"Why am I so stupid?" I asked, wiping my eyes. "Why did I say I wouldn't say anything? I just have him permission to do it again, like you said."

"A lot of rape victims don't," Allie said softly. "They're too scared."

"But he doesn't scare me," I protested.

"Your subconcious is a powerful thing," Allie looked off at the sun. "It tells you things that you don't even realize. When you see him, do you feel slightly awkward, like you don't know what to do?"

I nodded.

"Do you feel like if he talks to you you want to go away?"

I nodded.

"Then you're afraid of him," Allie finished.

I considered this. I guess... I thought that he just made me nervous, like most people do, but Trey was a different story. "How do you know so much about this?"

Allie let out a short laugh. "Pychology major."

I nodded and kept my head down. I wasn't in the mood to talk.

"You have to report him," Allie said firmly.

I bit my lip.

"No, Finley, this is not debatable, you have to report him, or at the very least, tell Eli," she said sternly. "And if you won't, I will."

"I'll tell Eli," I whispered, looking at my fingers. "Promise."

"Good," All ie said, her tone making it sound like it was final. "Now, if you excuse me, I actually have a lot of coursework to do, so I'll just go home."

"Okay," I said, standing up. "Do you want to go through the front door or down the tree?"

"Through the door, definetly," Allie said, looking faintly horrified. "That was too much physical exercise for one day."

I laughed. "Well, it was pretty cool and athletic."

"I'm athletic!" Allie said, sounding a bit offended. "I played soccer in high school, I'm Australian and my brother did, so, I kind of had to."

"You have a brother?" I asked with interest.

Allie grinned. "Easy there tiger. I know us Australians are attractive and all, but he's twenty-nine and married."

"And he played soccer?" I asked.

Allie nodded. "Yeah. And when I was old enough, and considering the fact that I'm Australian, he coached me. I'm not like, persuing it as a career though. It was always more of a hobby."

I stood up as well. "Well, let's get off the roof. Its cold."

Allie followed me as I made my way down and in my window. I opened my door and went downstairs. When we reached the bottom, I turned to the front door and saw Luke coming in.

I froze and Allie bumped into me. "What the hell, Lee,"she said.

Then her eyes fell on Luke and she froze like a deer in the headlights.

Luke turned, having heard her voice and when he saw her he immediately paled. "Um, Allie," he mumbled. "What are you doing here?"

"Finley had a crisis," she said evenly. "She called me and I came over to help. Is that a problem?" She said it defiantly, but at the end her voice shook.

"N-No," he said, looking down. "You can still be friends with my sister. You don't need my permission."

"Good," Allie said. She turned to me. "I'll see you later."

She had to pass Luke to get out and as she was leaving he touched her arm gently. "Allie...," he said softly. He squeezed his eyes shut and swalllwed hard. "It was nice to see you again."

Allie's eyes softened and she stepped closer to him to press her lips to his cheek before she hurried out the door.

Luke opened his eyes and they were so pained that I felt my heart break for him.

He met my eyes, and we faced off, brother vs. sister and he shook his head before brushing past me.

I feel bad for him.
