Finley's P.O.V

I was waiting outside impatiently when Eli finally pulled up next to me. I got in the car and slammed the door. "You're late," I told him.

"Yeah, well, I came as soon as I could, I can't fucking teleport," Eli grumbled, driving out of the parking lot.

I immediately felt bad. "Sorry," I apologized, leaning forward and kissing him on the cheek.

Eli grumbled again, but I could tell that he wasn't really mad anymore. "Yeah yeah, sure you are."

"Well, what do you want me to do to make it up to you?" I asked him.

Eli turned to me, a hopeful smile on his face and a mischevious look in his eye. "Tell me what my Christmas present is?" he tried.

I smiled. "Not gonna happen, and keep your eyes on the road!"

Eli looked back at the road and steadied the car. "Right, sorry. So where are we going again?"

"Ashton's house," I told him, settling back in my seat and put on my seatbelt.

"Which is where?" Eli prompted.

"Oh yeah!" I exclaimed then told him the address.

Eli turned on the right street and drove a little while. I could see muscles working in his jaw, which only happened when Eli got pissed. And he was pissed.

"Are you mad at me?" I asked timidly.

"No," Eli all but growled.

"You're mad at something," I decided, crossing my arms. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Eli said slowly, a hint of anger in his voice.

"You're mad," I said in a small voice. "Why won't you tell me why?"

"Because I don't want to worry you," Eli sighed, glancing over at me and when he saw me his eyes softened considerably, but he was still angry.

"You're worrying me now," I pointed out.

Eli sighed. "You're not going to let this go, are you?"

"Nope," I smiled slightly, pleased by my, alright, small victory but a victory nonetheless. "So are you gonna tell me?"

"Nope," Eli said, turning on another street.

My mouth opened a bit in shock. "Why not?" I questioned.

"Because," Eli replied childishly.

"Don't be childish," I said.

"Who, me?" he asked, feigning innocence. I stuck my tongue out at him. "Hey!" he exclaimed, pointing at me. "Now who's childish?"

"What's wrong?" I whined.

"Nothing," Eli said, his tone back to being angry instead of happy.

"Fine," I pouted, but then a slightly sinister idea came to mind. "Fine, I know other ways I can get you to tell me."

"What-" Eli started but I cut him off by leaning closer.

"Eli," I whispered in his ear, putting my hand on his thigh.

"Fin," Eli warned. "I'm driving."

"So?" I asked, still right next to him, bringing my hand up his thigh. I kept going until I was quite close to a certain part of his anatomy when Eli jerked away, swerving a bit with his car.

"Fin! What the fuck!" he exclaimed, focusing on the road for a second before turning back to me. "Why would you do that to an unsuspecting boy?"

I shrugged. "You wouldn't tell me, so..."

"So you decide to make me almost kill us?" Eli asked incredulously. "Girls are crazy," he muttered under his breath.

"I heard that," I said sternly.

"Heard what? Me trying to get us to your friend's house alive? Oh my bad," Eli said sarcastically.

I frowned. Eli was in a pissy mood. "Are you mad at me?"

"No," Eli all but growled.

"Then who are you mad at, Eli, because you're acting-" I began

Eli interrupted me. "Like what? Huh? A boyfriend because someone else kissed his girlfriend and she doesn't even seem to care?"

My entire body seemed to sag; I suddenly understood why Eli was so angry. "Eli," I began, putting my hand on his arm. "You do know that the only reason I don't care is because Ashton is my friend, right? All I want to do is comfort my upset friend. She was crying. I need to make sure my friend is okay. I didn't like the kiss. Well, it wasn't that bad but Ashton is my friend."

"Do me a favor," Eli grumbled. "Don't say you liked Ashton's kiss in front of me again." He sounded irritated, but I could see the corner of his mouth turn up and I knew the storm had passed.

I leaned forward and pecked his cheek. "You're a good boyfriend," I told him.

"I know," he replied with a cheeky grin. "We're here," he announced, stopping the car.

I got out and paused, my hand on the door. "Do you want to come in or stay in the car?"

Eli made a face. "And deal with your woman drama? I'll stay in here, thanks."

I shrugged. "Suit yourself."

I shut the door and began walking up the path. Ashton's house was an off white, dirty from the winter. The two story building had grey shutters and a large wraparound porch. For some reason, the door was a bright turquoise and I recognized Ashton's taste in the decoration.

I stepped onto the porch and stopped on the mat that read wipe your paws.' I rang the doorbell and took a step back.

"Hello?" A woman answered the door.

She must be Ashton's mother, I thought. She was tall, taller than me, around Ashton's height. She was impeccably dressed in a dress that hugged her curves and was a floral print. Her feet were clad in heels I couldn't hope to walk in and her blonde hair was up in an elegant bun; her makeup, while perfectly done, was a bit too heavy.

"Is t-this Ashton's h-house?" I questioned.

The woman's nose wrinkled as she took in my appearence. I suddenly felt self-consious in my dirty converse. "Yes," she said. "May I help you?"

"Well, Ashton w-was shopping with me e-earlier, and she g-got upset and I j-just wanted to make s-sure she was okay," I said, fiddling with my fingers.

The woman sighed deeply. "Come in," she stepped back, allowing me to enter.

I glanced around the entry hall and saw pictures of Ashton's mother, father and a girl I didn't recognize along with Ashton. The girl must be Ashton's infamous sister. Ashton was in two pictures; her sister dominated the frames.

"Ashton has always been a sensitive girl," her mother said, redirecting me to the living room, I cautiously took a seat on a white armchair while Ashton's mother settled on the couch. "What upset her this time?"

The choice of words made me wonder how many times Ashton had a meltdown. Apparently, often. "We were shopping, and she tried on a dress, but she said she was fat and ran out crying," I decided to omit the part where Ashton kissed me, as I bet her mother would probably react in a negative way.

Her mother sighed. "Ashton constantly struggles with her weight. She's always been heavier than her sister and its taken a toll on her. She is a tad overweight-"

"Excuse me?" I shot up, my voice rising. "Ashton is not fat! Your daughter is anorexic! She's starving herself to live up to your ridiculous expectations of her! When she tried on that dress, I could see her ribs! If you think that's overweight, then get your eyes checked!"

I stormed out of the living room and headed up the stairs, to where I knew Ashton was crying in her room. I barred in the room and found Ashton lying on her bed, face buried in her pillow and her shoulders were shaking.

"Ash?" I asked softly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, lifting her head just enough for me to see her makeup streaking down her cheeks.

"Well, first I was yelling at your mom," I said. "I told her to get her eyes checked."

Ashton let out a giggle then groaned, burying her head under her pillow. "I'm so sorry."

"For what?" I asked. "Ash, its okay."

"No its not!" Ashton exclaimed. "I kissed you and you have a boyfriend! You're straight! I'm not! How is that okay?"

"Its okay if you like girls," I said. "There's nothing wrong with that. Love is love. You can't help who you love, it just happens. Fate can be cruel sometimes. Life is cruel sometimes."

Ashton groaned. "Its hard not to kiss you when you talk like that."

A small smirk spread across my lips. "Really?"

"Really," Ashton confirmed, sitting up and brushing the hair out of her eyes, which were red and puffy. "You're kind of irrisistable, to both guys and girls."

I chuckled. "Well, I'm flattered."

"I'm sorry for kissing you," Ashton apologized, looking abashed. "It was wrong."

"Its okay," I smiled. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay. And all I care about is if my friend is okay. I don't mind that you kissed me, or that you're lesbian, but I will mind if you kiss me again."

Ashton nodded earnestly. "Yeah, I completely understand. It was a moment of weakness where I was sad and you made me feel better and I just had the urge. Its kind of weird actually. You're more like my sister."

"So we're cool?" I asked.

Ashton nodded in confirmation. "We're cool. So you yelled at my mom?" She asked, a small grin on her face.

I shrugged. "She was talking smack. She needed to be put in her place."

Ashton's grin grew wider. "Yeah, she is a bitch."

And that's when I knew Ashton was back.
