Finley's P.O.V

"Luke," I began. "You are not cool."

Luke grinned at me, a little twinkle of mischief in his eye. "On the contrary, little sister, I think I'm quite the cool cat."

I winced. "First off, please don't ever say that again. Second, you're still not cool."

"I got you and Eli back together, didn't I?" He countered. "Without me, you'd still be moping around like you lost your soul."

I was stung. "I was not moping."

"Oh, yeah you were! Honestly, it was pathetic, with you all depressed and dragging your sorry ass around when he was only a phone call away."

"And what did you do when you and Allie got into a fight?" I countered. "You did, and I quote, "shouted, punched some stuff then cried for the last half hour.'"

Luke was silent for a couple seconds. "I hate you," he commented.

I chuckled slightly and stood up from the couch, stretching. "You love me," I said, ruffling his hair as I passed him, heading into the kitchen.

"Hey!" Luke protested, his hand going to his hair. "I hate you!"

"No you don't!"

...

I groaned as the bell rang, making me leave the safety of a silent study hall and brave the halls of my lame high school. I really, really, really would rather not go to AP Biology. I found Eli by his locker, realizing that he had the next class with me.

"Hey," I greeted him as I leaned against the locker next to his.

"Well aren't you the cool kid," he said, grabbing his Bio book.

"I wish that I could be like the cool kids, like the cool kids," I sang.

"Yeah, let's not sing," Eli said, shutting me up.

I frowned. "You don't like my singing?"

"Hm," Eli stroked his chin, pretending to think about it. "Now that I think about it... no."

I pouted. "You're so mean to me."

Eli rolled his eyes, grabbing my hand and interlacing our fingers. "Yeah, I'm so mean to you."

I was still pouting when Eli bent down slightly and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

"Fin," he whined. "Please, I'm not mean to you! I love your singing voice now please smile again!"

I broke out in a smile, just because I wanted to, by the way, not because Eli told me to. "Your wish is my command," I said sweetly.

"Oh?" Eli wiggled his eyebrows. "So I could wish you to do-"

"Finish that sentence and you'll wish you'd never been born," I warned him.

Eli was silent for a second as he registered my words. "You have been hanging out with Allie too much," he muttered.

"Eli!"

"What? I didn't say it was a bad thing..."

...

I was sitting in my gym class, waiting for the gym teacher to finish explaining archery. I kind of liked my gym class, as I got to wear whatever athletic gear I want, which explained why I was in sweats and a loose T-shirt for gym. Honestly, I don't understand why we had to change for archery, but nonetheless, archery was going to be fun.

"Hey," I heard someone say.

I turned my head and saw the boy that Eli had fought saunter up to me, a cocky smile on his face.

"You're Finley right?" he asked, pausing in front of me.

"Um, y-y-yeah," I stuttered, uncomfortable with the attention of this jock on me.

His smile spread a little wider. "Excellent."

That was a strange remark, and I was about to awkwardly walk away when he said, "Hey, why don't you be my partner for archery?"

"Um," was all I got to say before he grabbed my arm and shouted, "Hey coach! Finley's my partner!"

"I d-d-don't," I tried to protest but it was too late. Trey (that was his name, right?) Pulled me over to a target and grabbed the bow.

"I love archery," he told me as he readied his first shot.

I barely nodded, as I was fiddling with my fingers like there was no tomorrow. Its a habit I had when I got nervous. Trey shot his arrows(missing two out of the three, by the way) and he handed me the bow.

"Your turn," he smiled.

I took the bow silently and held it in my left hand, resting the bowstring against my hip, placing an arrow on the string and holding it in place with my pointer, ring and middle finger. I held the bow up and pulled back, but it was hard. This bowstring had resistance and I was so pathetically weak(hey, I live in my room, alright) that I was having difficulty pulling back. I decided to hell with it and released. My arrow flew over the target, hiting the mat behind it.

Trey, who was watching me, said, "Hey, you're doing it wrong, let me help you."

Before I could protest, he was behind me, putting the arrow on the string and holding it up with me, his hands over mine of the string. It was rather like a couple move, like the guy teaching the girl to play the piano or something.

I didn't like it.

My entire body tensed up but Trey didn't seem to care, he just whispered, "Okay, so you pull back-" he pulled the string back and held it taunt, still with his hand over mine. I started breathing heavier. "And you breathe-" he exhaled slowly, right next to my ear and I shivered, my breath uneven and rapid. "And you release." He let go of the arrow, releasing my hand and it hit the target, right in the red.

His hand dropped to my waist. "See?" He smiled. "Its easy."

"D-Don't," I stammered out before I dropped the bow and ran, hiding my face from the rest of the class, searching for a place to have my anxiety attack.

...

"So," Eli said, his tone terse and irritable. "Word on the street is Trey Fuller is so attractive to you that he gave you an anxiety attack."

I blinked when I realized what he was saying and I rushed to reassure him. "No, no no, he made me be his partner for archery and before I could protest he already said that I was and when I had diffficulty pulling the string back he did the creepy thing like in the movies, like, teaching me how to shoot and stuff, but it was creepy and that made me have an anxiety attack," I finished, taking a deep breath.

Eli crossed his arms. "I'm still pissed," he informed me.

I winced. "But nothing happened."

"But he touched you," Eli retorted. "And I don't like that, considering he told me he wanted to fuck you."

"If it makes you feel better, he still had a black eye," I offered.

A small smile lined Eli's lips. "Good," he deadpanned.

I smiled slightly. "Guess what?" I tried, knowing he was still angry.

"What?" Eli asked.

"Winter Break starts at the end of next week," I grinned.

Eli smiled back. "You do realize I'm spending Christmas with you, right?"

I smiled mischeviously. "Your present is amazing."

Eli's smile dropped a little. "I hope you like yours." He looked embarrassed, which was adorable in my opinion.

"I'm sure I will."
