Y/n was lied in her bed, tucked under her warm duvet, as outside, the cold winter wind ran throught the empty streets.

She wasn't asleep, tho.

Not because of some kind of noise coming from downstairs, since her parents where already sleeping...

The only noise she heard was inside her head. That was what kept her awake.

There are many ways this noise can be called.

Some use the word 'anxiety', some the one 'paranoia'...

Y/n preferred calling it Brian.

She stared at the white ceiling of her room, trying to make him shut up, but she could hear him talking, and talking, and talking, without stopping, not even for a second, to let her breathe.

Again, and again, until she started to wish she was dead, to wish she had a gun, so that she could put it in her mouth, and make him finally shut up once and for all.

She was so tired of that routine.

She closed her eyes, trying to fall into the comforting arms of sleep, but with no success.

Every time she would close them, Brian would start shouting louder, screaming at her, insulting her, almost making her ears bleed, from how much he yelled.

"Shut up, you fucking whore!" he would say "No one gives a shit, about what you say anyway! Nobody fucking cares about you!"

She put her hands on her ears, pressing her palms against them. It hurt, feeling her auricle against her skull, but it surely was better than having to listen to him.

Suddently, he stopped.
For a moment, silence filled her mind, leaving her free to finally breathe, have some peace.

But like I said, it was just a moment.

A few seconds later, in fact, Brian came back, shouting louder than ever.

If he had had lungs, he would've been screaming at the top of them, destroying his throat. But he didn't.

If he did, she surely would've already choked him, by now.

She started crying, feeling her head pound, as a terrible headache took her.

Why was he torturing her like that? What had she done, in her miserable nineteen years of life, to deserve him?

She asked herself that every single day, and everyday, she found no answer to that question.

She wanted to scream as well, to ask for help, but felt her throat weak, and her lungs empty.

It was like Brian was trying to choke her.

She could feel her breath missing, and wrapped her hands around her neck, coughing hard, as she sat up.

"This isn't real" she kept repeating to herself "this isn't real"

She closed her eyes, and felt tears starting to run down her cheeks, as the pain grew more and more.

Suddently, it was all gone.

She coughed again, and took a deep breath, filling her lungs with air, calming down.

She opened her eyes.

"I need him"
__

Rod was in his room, sleeping, when he heard his phone ring from his bedside table.

He squinted his eyes, as he opened them, and picked it up, trying to adjust them to the bright light that came from the screen.

Finally, he managed to read the caller's ID.

Lil'one :)
...It was Y/n.

He sat up, and answered.
"Y/n... is everything ok? It's almost three a.m.!" he said, worried.

"...It's him..." she cried.

He could feel the tension and fear in her voice, as she didn't even dare to say his name.

"...Don't move, I'll be there in a minute"

He quickly hung up, and rushed out of his bed, putting on the first clothes he could find and getting downstairs as fast as he could.

Making sure not to wake anyone up, he left the house, closing the door behind him, and got on his moped.

In a few moments, he was at hers.

He left it in the bushes under her window, and quickly climbed the tree next to it, as he always did in these situations.

Her parents didn't know it, but it happened more than she actually told them it did.

He reached the top branch, and softly knocked on the glass, waiting for her to come and open it.

She appeared soon later, and lifted it up, letting him in.

He silently climbed through, and as he was stading on his feet again, he opened his arms to her, and she rushed into his embrace, starting to sob again.

She hid her face against his chest, getting his shirt all wet, as the tears quickly ran out her eyes, soon followed by suppressed whines and wails of grief and pain.

Rod gently put his hand on her head, playing with her hair, knowing it would calm her down.

Usually people try to comfort you by talking, by telling you that it will be alright... but Rod wasn't like the others.

He knew that those things never work, that knowing that it's normal to feel that way doesn't help...

So he just made sure to be there, for her. To show her he cared, to listen to her, to hug her, to do anything that could help.

And he didn't need to talk, because actions, in this situations, help more than words do.

She slowly pulled away, and dried some tears off from her cheek with the back of her hand, sitting down at the end of her bed.

Rod did the same, and took her hand in his, gently caressing it.

"...Do you wanna talk about it?" he softly said.

She took a deep breath, and felt her stomach clench just at the idea of it.

She slowly shook her head, and rested it on his shoulder, sighing.
She felt so tired

He wrapped his arm around her, and started playing with her hair again.

"Sorry if I called you here for nothing, I-

"Ehy, don't say that" he seriously said, cupping her face in his hands "This isn't nothing... and I don't care if it's just for a hug, or for a talk, or for whatever it could be. If you need me, I'll be here, ok?"

She nodded, and slightly blushed, as he softly smiled to her, staring straight into her y/e/c eyes.

She had known him since they were little kids, and he had always been there for her.

He was her best friend, her most trusted person in every situation.

When she needed advice, or someone to listen to her... he was always there for her.

He would've done anything for her, and she would've too.

She looked down at his chest, and realized he was only wearing a t-shirt, even tho it was winter.

"God, Rod... did you come here dressed like this? It's freezing outside!"

She stared back at him, and blushed hard, as she noticed his eyes weren't on hers anymore, but had moved to her lips, carefully studying them.

She shivered, as one of his hands went to her waist, and slowly got closer to him, seeing him do the same.

Suddently, they kissed.

She rested her hands on his hard chest, and soflty smiled, as she recognized a taste of mint and bubblegum on Rod's plump, warm lips.

He pulled her closer, and savoured every second of that moment, as if it was a matter of life or death.

He couldn't believe it was finally happening...

As air became a need, they slowly pulled away, resting their foreheads against each other's.

Rod looked up, and soflty smiled, seeing her do too.

"...Can you stay, tonight?" she whispered.

He caressed her cheek with his thumb, feeling his heart fill with joy, as she asked that.

"Anything, for you..."

He lied down on her warm bed, and brought her down with him, making her giggle, as she snuggled closer to him.

She rested her head on his chest, and put her arm around his waist, as he wrapped his around her shoulders.

He started playing with her hair again, and y/n closed her eyes, smiling.

Not even Brian could've ruined that moment.
