"I forgot my phone and I need to go to the bathroom." Elena said.
"We will wait." said Nicole.

She runs back inside and tries to find Dr. Melendez in the E.R.

She takes a walk around. A lift and a few floors later, she finds herself near some offices, stumbling across Dr. Melendez's office. It is empty. She sighs and turns back. As she turns, she sees Dr. Melendez walking towards her, looking at a file.

"Dr. Melendez." she said.
"Elena. I thought you'd left already." he said.
"I came back inside. I pretended that I forgot my phone and went to the bathroom."
she said.
He laughs. He opens the door and allows her to go in first. She nods.
"What's up?" he asked.
"Sorry about earlier. I mean Grams and her antics."
He chuckles. "It is okay. Your grandfather also apologised. It is not a big deal, really."
"Still. I find it a bit embarrassing."
He laughs.
"What are we doing tonight?" she asked.
"I don't know. Do you want to watch a movie?"
"Sure."
"Rom-com or plain com?"
"Rom-com. For sure." she replied.
He nods.
"I will pick you up at 8."
"Okay."
They are silent for a moment.
Her phone rings, breaking it.

"Thanks for phoning, Mom. You helped me find my phone. I am on my way out now." she said, ending the call.

He laughs. "Nice save."
He continues. "Are you ever going to tell your grandmother that we actually did go on a date?"
"I will, but not now." she said. He nods.
She inhales. "I got to go. See you later." she said, running out.
He shakes his head, laughing. "See you later."

She gets to the car.

"Sorry. My phone took a while to find." she said.
"It is okay." said David. "Let's go home."

They drive home and on the way, she sends Neil the directions to the house.

They arrive home and everyone tries to help Kristina settle in.

"Home sweet Home." Kristina said.
"Grams, do you want anything?" Elena asked.
"My bed. I just want to sleep in my own bed!" Kristina answered and she made her way to the room.

Everyone else watched television downstairs and Elena went upstairs and rested for a while.

It was afternoon. She decided to head to the little coffee shop with the murals and do some work.

She decided to order something different, this time. A strawberry matcha tea. It was a unique combination, but it tasted good. She ordered a chocolate croissant as well. She opened her laptop and did some work.

Before she knew it, it was already 6.
She closed her laptop, puts it in her bag and pays for her croissant and three cups of tea. Elena then walks home.

"I am back." she said, opening the door.
"You're just in time for dinner." her grandmother said. "I cooked."

"Ooh. It smells great, but Grams, you heard what Dr. Melendez said. You are supposed to rest." said Elena.

"I tried to tell her, Elena." said David.
"I rested enough, David." said Kristina.
"We all know that Grams is stubborn, so I am not surprised." said John, walking out from the room heading to the dining table.

Elena just shook her head and sat at the table. Everyone started to eat and talk in between.

Elena leaves the table first.
"Thanks, Grams. I need to go upstairs and get changed."
"Where are you off to?" Kristina asked. She then gasped. "Are you seeing your friend again?"
Everyone stared waiting for an answer, while her grandfather shook his head.
"It is none of our business. She is old enough to do what she wants and with whoever. Go get ready." her grandfather said.

Elena smiled at her grandfather. "Thanks, Grandpa." He winks at her.
She showers and decides what  to wear.
Remembering what Neil said the night before, she wears a light blue blouse with jeans and closed pumps. She brushes her hair and leaves it loose.

"Earrings and necklace or earrings and watch?" she asked herself.
She picks the latter. She looks at the time. It is 19:50. She grabs a bag and jacket and checks if anyone is downstairs. Her grandmother and dad is there. "Oh goodness." She takes a deep breath and walks downstairs.

"You look lovely." said Kristina, as she sees Elena. Her dad smiled. "Have fun." he dad added.

"Thanks, Grams and Dad." she said.
"You should introduce us to your friend some time." continued Kristina.
Elena's eyes widened. "Maybe." she said.

Her phone vibrates.

It's a text from Neil.
"I am outside."

"I am off. See you later." she said, hugging her dad and grandmother.

"Is he picking you up? Tell him to come inside." said Kristina.
"Yes and no, Grams. Love you and see you later." said Elena, running to the car.

Neil opens the door and she gets in, closing it quickly and signals him to drive.

The car is filled with silence for a few moments.

"Hi." she says, once she has caught her breath.
"Hello." he says, laughing. "What's with the running? Are you that excited for our date?"
"No..."
He looks at her surprised. "I mean yes, but I was running cause my grandmother kept asking questions about my friend."
"Which I assume is me." said Neil, smiling.
"Yeah."
"You look lovely. Nice colour blouse." he said, smiling.
"Thanks. Blue is my favourite." she said.
"Mine too." he said, still smiling.

"Anyway. How was work?" she asked.
"It was okay. Had a major surgery today. Triple bypass."
Elena's eyes widened. "Woah. Were there complications?"
"Yeah, but we managed to resolve the complications. He is in recovery at the moment."
"I am glad to hear it went well."
"Me too." he said.
She then comes to a realisation.
"Wait. Aren't you supposed to be on call then?"
"My res..."

They pull up at the cinemas and park the car.
He opens the door for Elena. "Thank you." she said.
They head to the ticket counter and Neil gets their tickets.

Elena heads over to the popcorn station and buys one container of popcorn, two sodas and four packets of sweets.

"What?" she said, looking Neil, who is looking at the sweets.
"I love sweets, okay. Much more than popcorn."
He laughs. "I never said anything." He helps her by carrying the popcorn.

They head inside. They are slightly early for the movie.

They find their seats and sit down. Elena does not hesitate to open a packet of sweets. Neil takes it, along with all the other packets and keeps it.

"You can wait until the movie starts." he said.
"Fine." she said, pouting, sulk and sips her soda, loudly, to irritate Neil.
He laughs at her cute, yet childish behaviour.
"So childish." he said, softly.

They don't talk for a few minutes until the start of the movie.

"It is starting." Elena said, excited. She opens her hands to Neil.
Neil looks at her and give her one packet of sweets and rolls his eyes and smiles afterwards. He then gives her all the sweets.

During the movie, they do not talk as much and rather laugh. When she laughs, Neil tends to stare at her. She nearly catches him, staring at her and he covers it up by staring at the screen and smiling. He then proceeds to reach for some popcorn. So does she. Their hands nearly touch and they look at each other. She removes her hand and reaches for her soda. Her heart starts beating really fast.
She forgets that her soda is on her right and reaches for Neil's instead. Both of them lift up the cup, nearly touching hands again. They laugh and Neil sips his soda and puts it back in its place. At the end of the movie, Elena starts to cry and quietly appplauds.
Neil hands her a tissue. She takes it and wipes her tears. "Thanks." She whispered. He nods. They exit the theater.

"Sorry about that. Sometimes I can really emotional. Talk about embarrassing." she said.
He shakes his head. "It is okay to express your emotions."
They walk and see a gaming machine outside.

He heads over and he plays. He wins a little teddy bear.
"For you." he said. She looks at him and smiles.
"Thank you. It is cute." she said.
They walk quite close to each other towards the car. Neil's hand holds hers. She looks at him, and he avoids making eye contact with her. She blushes and looks forward. Both of them smile. He opens the car door for her and they drive back to her house.
