It is finally the week of the wedding.
Elena has already started baking off some of the cupcakes.
"How are we doing with the confectionaries?" she asked Justin.
"Uh...Okay. I think."
She sees Justin carrying boxes, that are a bit too heavy for him alone. Lynn helps him.
"Thanks, Lynn."
She winks. "No problem."

"Confectioneries are okay. We are actually ahead of schedule." said one of the other bakers.
"That's great."
Justin goes to the front to help out the customers.

"So, is he coming to the wedding? Did you invite him as your date or were you too chicken?"
Elena scoffs.
"No."
"No, as in he is not coming?"
"No, as in I was not too chicken."
Lynn's eyes widened.
"Are you for real? Elena Castillo finally had the guts to ask a guy out?" she said, softly.
Elena laughed.
"Wait. Is it the surgeon?"
Elena nods.
"Woah. I want to meet him."
"He is coming to the wedding."
"As your date?"
She nods.
Lynn squeals like a little girl.
"Shh. You want everyone to hear?"
"Sorry."
Elena rolls her eyes.
"I wonder who Justin is going with.."

Lynn seems uncomfortable.
She stammers. "He... Um...asked me."
Elena's eyes widened. "And? Did you say yes?"
"Yeah. But now I am not so sure."
"Why?"
She types it on her phone, in case someone hears.
"I think I'm in love with him."
Elena hits Lynn's arm.
"Now? You realise this now?"
"What do you mean?"
"I saw this coming, ever since we went Carlo's Place. When you spoke about med school. And I think he feels the same."
Lynn is shocked. "But what if he doesn't?"
"You'll deal with that when and if you get to that point."
"Talk to him after work." Elena adds.
She nods.

Elena checks her phone. She realises that it has been a week since she last had a proper conversation with Neil. Both of them have been so busy.

Just then, a customer arrives. Justin goes ahead to help him. They greet.
"Uhh... A slice of chocolate cake, please."
Justin nods and rings it up.
"Thanks."

Elena came to ask Justin for something and then he leaves while she remains behind. She sees the customer.

"Neil?!" She removes her apron, but it takes too long. She runs into Neil's arms. "Hey. This is your place?"
"Yeah."
"Nice name. I like it."
She smiles.
"This is the best thing that has happened all day. Thank you so much for coming early."
He winks and gives her a quick kiss, before anyone notices. He then pulls away.

"Have you settled in yet?"
"Yeah, I'm staying at a hotel nearby. It is best that way."
"Okay."
"What are you up to in there?"
"Just making some last few things before Saturday."

"Oh okay."
"Can I do the dishes?"
She insists that he doesn't, but he is persistent. She sighs.
"Sure, come on through."

"Everyone, this is Neil. He is going to be helping with the dishes."
"Why is he here? With us? He is a customer."
"Well... I just thought you could use the help, especially with the wedding."
Lynn looks at Elena, pulling her to the side, along with Justin.
"He knows about the wedding?" said Justin.
"Yeah."
"Wait. Elena, is he the doctor?" Lynn asked.
She nods.
"He is my boyfriend." said Elena, feeling shy.
Justin and Lynn look at each other.
"What?!"
Neil looks at them.
Lynn just feigns a smile.
"How long?" said Justin.
"Um... Quite a while."
"Did you decide to be together when you came back?" Lynn asked.
"No. We became a couple before then."
Lynn gasps.
"And you kept quiet about it all this time?"
Elena nods. "Sorry."
"Wait. So exactly how long?"
"Two months and a bit."
Justin and Lynn gasps.
"I really wanted to tell you, but I just never thought it would really matter, until now or after the wedding."

"It's okay. I am just glad that you finally found someone." said Lynn.
Elena smiles as Neil watches.
"Me too."
There is a moment of silence.
"I think we need to get back to business though." she added, while changing her tone and clapping her hands.
"Right. We're nearly done." said Justin.

Elena told Lynn and Justin to clean the seating areas while she and Neil cleaned up and finished icing the last of the cupcakes.

"We're done. Now we just have to deliver it." said Lynn, putting the cupcakes and confectioneries away."
"Well done!" Elena said giving everyone, including Neil, a high five.
"Thanks for the extra help today. You've really put us ahead of schedule." said Justin, shaking hands with Neil.
"No problem. Glad I could help."
"See you tomorrow." said Lynn and Justin to Elena and Neil.
"Yeah."
He turns to Elena.
"You must be relieved."
She nods.
"I am, but I enjoyed working with you today. Nice icing skills."
He laughs. "Thanks. I try."
She laughed.
"Want to grab some dinner?"
She nods.

They meet at Carlo's Place and order pizza.
They make small talk, laugh for a bit and catch up.

They then head outside.
"I look forward to tomorrow." he said.
"Me too."
He smiles and leans in to kiss her.
He pulls away and she smiles, blushing.
Their foreheads still touch.
"I missed that." she whispers.
"Me too." he nods and gives her another quick kiss.
"Good night."
"Good night." she said.
They got into their cars and headed home.
