Chapter 28 || Falling snow

Nobody noticed when I first stepped into the house, but it didn't take long for someone to notice me. Especially when there was a huge 6'4 man standing beside me. That really made me stand out.

Barry, my youngest brother, was the first to notice me.

"MOM! Sara's home and she has a boyfriend!" He yelled as loud as he could. My family was obnoxiously loud.

Barry came running up to me and jumped up to hug me. I laughed, "How's it going bud?"

He climbed down from my arms, seemingly not caring about what I just said and stared up at Noah, "What's his name," he asked.

"Noah," Noah replied.

"Like the guy from the Bible?" he asked, his innocent eyes staring up into Noah's.

"Uh... sure?" Noah looked over at me, his brows furrowed and uncertainty wavering in his eyes.

"Yeah like the guy from the bible." I said to Barry.

"That's what I thought," he stared up at me with a toothy smile. "You wanna play a video game with me, Sarah?" Barry asked as he rocked back and forth on his feet.

I let out a laugh, "Why don't you get Noah to play with you? I'm sure he would love to," I paused for a moment and looked over at Noah, "right Noah?"

"Sure." He said, of course he wasn't smiling, but if he was trying to get in my good graces than he could play with my little brother.

Barry grabbed his hand a pulled him away. Dragging him into the playroom.

I walked upstairs and down the hall to my old bedroom. Nobody noticed me and I thought now would be a good time to freshen up, there was still a little soot on my face from the explosion, even though I had rubbed it off in the truck I still had some left on my face. I grabbed an outfit from mine and Emily's closet. I then got in the shower to get rid of whatever dirt was left on my body. When I got out I walked back into my room, comfortable wearing a clean pair of jeans and a sweater. Stepping into my room I breathed out a sigh. Walking over to my bed and flopped down.

I felt the softness of my mattress and the smell of familiarity surround me. Home. I loved home. It was so comfortable. It was a place where you could relax and release, letting the stress of your life slip off your shoulders.

And that is what happened, as the stress of my life rolled off my shoulders I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

I woke up to my sister searching through her closet. Grumbling. Typical Emily.

Emily was one of those girls you'd see walking down the halls at school, hair perfect, makeup perfect, outfit perfect, basically every aspect of her life perfect. If anything I remember going to highschool with her was that while she was lazing around looking perfect and getting perfect grades I was working my ass off on stupid unit tests and shit.

Of course Emily was in grade nine at the time, that really can't be comparable.

Letting out a sigh I sat up, "What's going on Em?"

"Can't find my green cardigan, if it isn't here then I will have to change my entire outfit," letting out a big huff Emily crossed her arms over her chest while she stood in front of the two panel open door closet. I rolled my eyes.

"Emily, it's christmas. Just wear a tacky sweater with a pair of jeans. It isn't that complicated." I got up from bed and walked from the bed till I was standing beside her. Staring into the rows of clothes.

"But..."

"Emily, you only get to wear tacky sweater once a year, live a little."

Rolling her eyes she smiled, "Okay." She ran her fingers of the clothes till she came to the right hanger and grabbed the sweater of the hanger, I went back to sit on the bed.

Emily quickly changed and then sat beside me on the bed.

"Sooo... How the heck did you get a guy like Noah?" She asked randomly.

I glanced over at her raising an eyebrow, "I didn't get him, we're not dating or anything."

It was her turn to raise an eyebrow, "Oh really? Because according to Noah you're his girlfriend."

"He's often delusional," I replied.

"Why's he here then? If he isn't your boyfriend." Emily asked, letting out a short laugh.

"Well, you see I was driving down the road, and ya know, it was snowing, and I come up to this dude walking down the road. So, you know me, being the good citizen I am, offered him a ride. I later found out that he escaped from the mental asylum because he felt lonely and had nobody to spend christmas with, so here he is, spending christmas with us. Don't worry, I'll get him back as soon as the clock strikes twelve." I said smiling. I missed this, talking with my sister. Although the age gab was quite prominent she was still there to talk to me. Laurel, my older sister was harder to speak too. She was married and just a teeny bit uptight.

Emily let out another laugh, "Oh Sarah, no matter what happens you still have your outrageously big imagination. Now, like seriously. Why the heck is that god of a man sitting in the kitchen and talking with Mum and Laurel."

"Wait? He's talking to mum? Oh shit." I said, shooting up from the bed. I rushed to the door and was turning the knob whilst Emily yelled at me to come back and tell me what was going on.

I rushed down the stairs and straight to the kitchen to find, as Emily said, Noah sitting at the kitchen table talking while mum and Laurel who were cooking christmas dinner.

When Noah heard me he looked over and smiled, "Hey Sarah, finally woke up I see."

"I thought you were playing video games with Barry." I asked.

"Babe, that was four hours ago. I wasn't going to play forever." He said, giving me a smirk.

"Oh," I paused for a moment and decided to move on to the more pressing matter, "What are you guys talking about?"

"Nothing, Sarah, come mash the potatoes." Mum said, dismissing the subject.

"Noah, what were you guys talking about?" I asked.

"Nothing babe, go help your mum."

I sent him a glare. I knew what he was doing, and it made sense, but I didn't like it.

I'm pretty sure you guys picked up on it by now. Well I hope you would have. It's actually quite simple. Do I have to spell it out?

Yeah? okay. Noah was pretending we were a couple. '

Like I said before, I knew why he was doing it, but I didn't like it.

"Actually, Mrs. Delli. Do you think I could steal Sarah for a bit?" he asked. Looking over at me with a little smirk and a sparkle in his eye.

She looked over at Noah was a smirk, "Sure, but I'd make sure you get back before Mr. Delli. He wouldn't be too happy with you'll being off alone."

I rolled my eyes. It was true.

"Okay, we'll be quick." Than Noah was jumping out of his spot at the kitchen table, circling around and grabbing my hand. He dragged me out of the kitchen and to the front door where our boots and coats were waiting to be worn.

A minute later and Noah was leading me out of the door into the falling snow.
