What You Mean To Me • Finding Neverland

"Every star that's ever fallen
Knows the way to where we're going

Now I really know just what you mean to me..."

The next morning came, and Amora was preparing a hearty soup for Mel. Dr. Puula told Amora everything she needed to know about caring for a sick person, so she was prepared for Mel's cranky behavior.

The soup was piping hot, which was perfect for a man with hypothermia. Amora sat the soup on Mel's bedside table, opened Wattpad, and started reading.

Thirty minutes passed, and Mel started shifting which made Amora put her phone down. "Ughhh." Mel groaned, his head was pounding and he felt like his body was on fire, yet it felt numb. He opened his eyes and saw a black-haired woman.

Mel started to have coughing fits, and Amora knew just what to do. She opened the medicine on his table and poured it on a spoon. "Mel, I'm going to place this spoon in your mouth, and I'm going to need you to swallow the medicine."

And Mel, even though he felt like crap, could swear that voice belonged to his angel, but he was sure that he was hallucinating. So he opened his mouth for the strange woman and swallowed the disgusting syrup.

"I've got some soup for you if you'd like." Dr. Puula said that Mel wouldn't be able to talk much, so Amora was gonna find a way to communicate with the sick man.

Mel was fading in and out, all he wanted was Amora right now, not some random lady who sounded like his Amora.

"S-soup." Mel stuttered out, his voice was raspy and it hurt to speak. Mel hated to look helpless, but the lady was there to help.

Amora gave Mel a look of sympathy, she wanted him to feel better. "I've got it right here, Mel. Open up." Mel's mouth slowly opened, and he wished that his arms weren't so weak.

After feeding Mel, Amora continued to read her book. Meanwhile, Mel was thinking about his angel. He missed her, and if he wasn't so sick, he'd go find her and apologize.

Time passed and night fell, Dr. Puula came in and did a check-up on Mel as he slept. Amora watched his every move just in case she needed to do something while he was gone.

"He's getting better, I checked his tonsils and the swelling has gone down considerably. He should be able to speak clearly without straining his throat tomorrow. Give him lots of water and soup, and be sure to put lots of vegetables in it, they're good for his body." Amora made a mental checklist and nodded her head.

"Thanks, Dr. Puula. I'll make sure to do everything. You have a good night." Dr. Puula waved bye to Amora and left.

A rolling bed was put in Mel's room for Amora, she wanted to be nearby just in case he needed her. Lying down on the bed, Amora finished reading her book and eventually fell asleep.

The next day, Amora overslept, but Mel was asleep anyway. Dr. Puula had already checked on Mel, and he was doing better. By two in the afternoon, Amora was in the kitchen whipping up a vegetable soup for Mel, he hadn't woken up yet, but she wanted to make sure that everything he needed was in the room with her.

Carrying the soup to his room, Amora was surprised to see that Mel was sitting up. Placing the soup on his table, she smiled awkwardly.

Mel looked towards his door, and it shocked him to see Amora. "When did you get here?" He asked in his normal indifferent tone, Amora was glad to hear it.

She raised a brow in confusion though. The realization hit her, Mel had no idea who was taking care of him. "Well, I've been taking care of you. I don't want to cause you to have a painful headache or anything, so I can leave."

Mel groaned aloud, he had no idea that Amora was taking care of him. Now she knew that he could be helpless. "Sit down, Amora. I need to clarify our situation." Amora sat, but she was wary about what Mel would say. If he was going to hurt her again, she might have mistakenly poured the hot soup on him.

"First, I would like to thank you for taking care of me. I'm sorry that you had to see me helpless." With a deep breath, he continued. "The other day, Amora, I'm terribly sorry. The headaches that you give me aren't that bad, and your perfection is completely bearable." Mel looked genuine, and his confession made Amora crack a smile.

Amora was just about to speak, but Mel sighed loudly. He was going to try Regina's suggestion as well, he needed this to work one hundred percent. "Before you speak, I just want to let you know that I'm in love with you." Amora's face dropped, she couldn't believe her ears.

From the look on Amora's face, Mel's plan didn't work out properly. She looked, well Mel actually had no idea what the look on her face meant.

Finally, she spoke. "Y-you what?" Amora didn't know what to say or think, she wasn't expecting that.

Mel was confused, maybe Amora had trouble understanding him, his voice was still a bit raspy. "I said that I'm in love with you. And-" Mel heard sniffs coming from Amora that made him concerned.

His legs weren't that strong yet, but he was going to comfort his angel. Carefully he got up from his bed with wobbly legs, he held Amora in his arms.

"Why are you crying, my angel? Was it something I said?" Mel silently cursed Regina, their plan wasn't good enough to make Amora happy.

Amora shook her head in Mel's hard chest. Tears of joy ran down her face, Mel was in love with her. He didn't hate her or think of her as a nuisance. "Mel, you love me? You truly do?" Amora needed to know that he wasn't playing with her emotionally.

Mel chuckled, Amora didn't believe him. He guided them to his loveseat and sat her on his lap. "Yes, I truly do. I spent so much time thinking about it, wondering if I love you, and I do. That's why I was on the mountain two days ago. I went to Regina before I left, and she gave me a diagnosis, it was love. Of course, I didn't trust her completely, so I googled it, and turns out that the feeling I get when I'm around you is a term called butterflies, but I believe it should be called elephants. They also said you feel a rush when thinking of them, and it makes my head hurt thinking of you, my angel, you control my mind. Jealousy was another thing, I never felt that before I met you. But one thing, they said, if you love someone, you'd be willing to let them go. I could never do that, I love you too much, and I'm too selfish to let anyone else have your heart." Amora's heart could've burst, Mel really was perfect.

"Another thing, I have to explain something to you. I have Alexithymia, it's a personality characteristic in which the individual is unable to identify and describe their emotions. The main feature of Alexithymia is an emotional unawareness, lack of social attachment, and poor interpersonal relating. Furthermore, those suffering from Alexithymia have difficulty recognizing and understanding the emotions of others. Which is why I had trouble explaining my feelings, I'm sure you would've liked some of the cute explanations I found on google, but I couldn't tell you like that, and I'm sorry." Amora felt terrible, she just thought that Mel was a jerk, but he wasn't.

"Thank you for telling me this, everything makes so much sense now. Don't get mad, but I just assumed that you were raised by robot-like people." Mel laughed, his angel was the cutest.

"Angel, my parents are very emotional people, imagine their shock when their only child came out strange." Amora and Mel continued to talk about random things, just enjoying each other until Amora remembered something.

"I love you too, Mel. Surprisingly, it took a conversation with my mother to make me realize it. I know now that she was using reverse psychology, I realized that even in our misunderstanding, I still thought you were perfect, and I still wanted to be here with you. I love you, Melchizedek." Mel felt the 'elephants' again, he liked hearing Amora say that she loved him.

"Let me take you out, I would like to try again. I only hope that I won't disappoint you again." Amora loved the sound of that.

"I'd love that! But, we'll have to do it when you've regained your strength." Amora jumped up. "My goodness, Mel! You didn't eat! How could I forget? I'll be right back. You get back in your bed, and I'll be right back!" Amora rushed into the kitchen to reheat the soup.

"I'm back!" Amora said with the bowl of steaming hot soup. "Would you like me to feed it to you?" She asked kindly, she wasn't sure if his arms were strong enough yet.

Mel sighed, he forgot that he was a bit sick. He found the strength to get up and comfort, Amora, but unfortunately, he was weak now. "I've worn myself out, my angel. I hate to have you catering to me, it should be me catering to you. But, I'm weak at the moment, so may you?" Mel was a gentleman, and he hated the idea of lying around having the woman he loved to feed him like a baby.

Amora didn't mind at all, Mel was always quick to serve Amora, so now it was her turn. "If we're going out tomorrow, I've got to make sure you're strong." Mel opened his mouth as Amora fed him his delicious soup.

"My angel, the soup is magnificent. Did you make this?" Amora blushed, Mel was too kind.

"Yes, thank you!" Mel continued to eat the soup, and within two minutes the soup was gone.

"Thank you, Amora. I feel so much better." Mel could feel his body getting better, and he had enough strength and energy to take a bath.

The next morning came, and Mel's health was fine according to Dr. Puula. At noon Mel took Amora to the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.

"Mel, this is so beautiful. Thank you for taking me here." To say that Mel was a bit off, he proved that he could be a romantic guy, even if he didn't exactly know it.

Amora laced her fingers in Mel's as they walked around the garden. "I knew you'd enjoy it. I'm terribly sorry for how our last outing went, never again will I allow you to cry tears of sadness." Mel made a vow. Amora meant the world to him, so hurting her would mean losing her in the long run.

Amora hugged Mel tightly and sighed. "One day my heart is gonna burst open because of you. You may not know why, but you make me so happy." Mel didn't know why, but he did know that telling Amora his feelings made him feel something, he wasn't sure what, but it wasn't horrible.

The couple enjoyed the serene feeling as they walked around the garden. Soon enough, they found a fountain, and Amora wanted to make a wish.

Amora tossed a coin into the cute little fountain and smiled. "Are you gonna make a wish, Mel?" Mel wore a ghost of a smile.

"If it will make you happy, my angel." Amora couldn't contain her exuberant smile as she nodded her head.

Mel grabbed a coin from his wallet and tossed it in the fountain. He didn't make a wish though, he was more of a doer than a wisher, but for Amora, he'd do anything.

"Usually you aren't supposed to tell your wish, or it won't come true, but I'd like to know what you wished for. In exchange, I'm willing to risk mine not coming true as well." Amora was pure, her personality, and the way she saw certain things amazed Mel. His angel was perfection.

Being so in awe of Amora's risk, Mel threw another coin in the fountain, but this time he made a wish.

"I'm going to be honest. I never once in my life imagined having someone, ever. I never found myself worried that I would lose someone that I hold dear to me, I'd probably be sad for a day or two, but I'd move on. I never felt the need to love someone other than my parents, truth be told, I believed that romantic love was a delusion. Quite frankly, the idea of a person constantly being near me and talking to me was out of the question. Until you happened. What you make me feel never existed before you came along, l was clueless. I can't even imagine my life without you if you left me, I'd never move on. Now that I know you, I can't see how I could ever live life without knowing you, you make me feel alive. I said all of this to say, I've never been a wisher, but you're one of a kind, and I need all of the luck, wishes, and God Himself to guarantee that you'll be mine forever." Mel was serious, she was a breathtaking angel to him, and he wasn't going to risk losing her.

Amora couldn't help herself as she slowly leaned toward Mel. It seemed like time was frozen at that moment, everything was perfect around them, the setup for a perfect kiss. Amora was nervous, but Mel wasn't. With a quick swoop motion, Mel had Amora in his arms, and without a moment of doubt, Mel kissed Amora.

It was perfect. Amora's eyes shut instantly, and she wrapped her arms around Mel's neck, her nerves were no longer a problem. Mel was the greatest kisser in the world, not that Amora knew any other kisser, but he was gentle, yet strong. Just like his personality.

"Y-you're so," Amora tapped her head to figure out what she was trying to say, but she settled on this. "I really love you, Mel."

"I love you too, angel."
