Ty's POV

I tap my pencil on the shelf of my locker before throwing it in. It's the end of school and everyone is already leaving. While closing my locker and re-checking my bag, I feel a hand on my shoulder.

I turn to see Kasey. Her hair is in long waves of red and I get a giant whiff of her perfume.

"Kasey," I say through gritted teeth. I spot the rest of the group waiting for me at the door. Kasey smiles and trails her hand down my arm and I shake it off.

"What do you want Kasey?" I ask impatiently. She looks shocked for no reason and starts laughing obnoxiously.

Is she okay?

No.

I roll my eyes and began walking past her. She stops me and I turn around, almost knocking heads with her. I can feel eyes on us and that's definitely the group. Of course. I step back, still facing her and she gives me one of those fake plastic smiles. "We weren't finished yet, Ty-"

"I was finished," I reply, leaning against the wall. "What were you saying?"

I see Blake hiding his face with his shoulders laughing and Kaydon slapping him to stop. Parker and Sierra are doing finger hearts and doing kissy faces and I roll my eyes at them. Cameron was no where to be seen. Kasey scoffs and starts brushing through her hair.

"I was wondering if you would like to go have some lunch or something tomorrow. It is a nice day tomorrow and it's a weekend." she offers and I laugh for a split second. Then my eyes divert to a passing by blonde. The familiar smell of flowers and citrus and that cheery smile. She doesn't seem to notice us talking.

Cameron makes her way to the group and they all talk to each other. Kasey clears her throat and I honestly forgot I was still talking to her.

I sigh, "Kasey. I'm not interested in you, I don't like you, you called my friend worthless, I may have stuck up for you but I realized that I made a huge fucking mistake." she looks taken aback and I step forward, leaning down near her ear and I can immediately see Cameron's alert eyes.

"So no, sorry to break it to you. I'm not having lunch with you."

I walk away and to the group. They all greeted me and Cameron raised an eyebrow towards me and I raise one back. She nudges my arm as the others converse in their own conversation. "You okay?"

We've been getting on better terms. Sometimes we still argue over shit but that's like us since then. We hadn't had time together like we used to, Parker has been stealing her for boy help with Evan.

The one thing I've noticed lately about Cameron has been the way how down she looks. She wears her hoodies or her brother's with any type of bottoms. She used to style it up every now and then. Her hair has been in a messy bun or down hidden beneath her hood. Her mascara seem smudged some of the time and she fidgets with her golden rings on her fingers.

They may seem like style changes but she was always the most put together person out of all of us. She was bright, cheery, and full. Now she's dull and empty. It was like a piece of her was missing, and it broke my heart.

She nudges me again, catching my attention. I nod quickly and we follow the group as we walk to the parking lot to our cars. "How are you and Kasey doing?" she asks, pulling her hood down and brushing through her light blonde, frizzy hair.

I chuckle, "She's been, well, Kasey as usual." The group was still laughing along together and they just let us be.

"How's your art project coming a lot? Isn't it due next week?"

She sighs knowingly. The backpack on her shoulders slides down on her left arm and she lets it hang as she leans against her car. I lean against it too right beside her.

"I'm almost done with it. I still have some finishing touches, but overall, it's done." she smiles to herself and I see that little spark in her eyes. It always comes when she's excited about something. Art, volleyball, music.

"How about yours?"

Oh shit, I had a project to do.

Cameron turns to look at me. "You forgot didn't you?"

I shrug, "No biggie. I can just whip something up quickly this weekend." she shakes her head and I crack a grin. Before we could continue this good conversation, Blake claps his hands.

"Ty, we gotta go come on!" he starts walking towards his car where he'll drop me and Kaydon off. Parker was already waiting next to Cameron and I say goodbye to the both of them.

Kaydon lifts Sierra's chin up with his finger and thumb to kiss her and I slap him on the back to let him know we gotta go.

"Asshole," he mutters under his breath and Sierra laughs. She kisses him on the cheek and waves me goodbye before getting into Cameron's car.

I nudge him. "You know you love me." I tease and he rolls his eyes, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"You wish I love you."

"Ouch, Kay. That hurts, I thought we were something more,"

Blake honks his car and we both jump from the loud sound. He rolls the passenger seat window down and lowers his head. "Are you guys done bickering like a married couple? We gotta head to the park to practice!"

I put my arm around Kaydon, blowing a kiss to Blake and Kaydon shoves me off. "Excuse me? Did you just blow Blake a kiss?"

I smirk, "What about it man?"

Blake groans, "Oh my god, if you don't get your asses into the car, I'm going to break both of your skulls." We hop in while laughing and Blake just turns up the radio even louder to drown us out.

**

I slide off my shoes before locking the door. The sounds of the loud TV is playing in the background and the sound of the water faucet turned off.

"I'm home!" I shout and I hear a chorus of hellos. I walk into the living room and lightly pushed Travis's head.

"Hey, Trav." I call out and he mutters a hey before focusing on the TV. I step into the kitchen and was greeted with a lovely smell off spaghetti sauce. My dad is at the island on the stool, looking at the mail and Michelle is wiping down the counter with four plates steaming with pasta.

She looks up, noticing me. "Ty! How was school?" Dad looks up and smiles, fixing the glasses on his nose.

"Hey, kid."

I nod in acknowledgment. "It was fine. Forgot I had an art project I need to do so I'll be doing that this weekend." Michelle rolls her eyes and hands me a plate. I lean back against the sink while digging in and Travis walks in sitting on the stool next to dad. A plate was slid to him.

Dad snorts, "You better get that done then Ty."

"I will, don't worry."

We all eat and gage into light discussions about football, Travis's basketball games, and more random topics. My dad and Travis were in the living room watching TV so I cleaned up the dishes and put them in the sink, helping Michelle wash them.

Michelle and I were washing in comfortable silence but she broke it by asking me a question.

"How's the group been so far?" she asks, scrubbing down the plate with a sponge in her hand.

I take the soapy dish and rinsed it off. "The group's fine. Kaydon and Sierra has been showing how single the rest of us are and Parker is obsessed with a baseball guy." I chuckle at the baseball guy part. "I honestly didn't think she'll fall for him."

Michelle laughs and starts cleaning a cup. "Is Cameron okay?"

I hesitate on answering and she quirks an eyebrow up. "Is she?"

I nod slowly before explaining on my hesitation. "She's been fine, Michelle. She's just acting a hit down and more dull lately. Also pretty fidgety." She nods along to try and understand what I'm saying and I stay silent as she thinks.

"You know, it's good to check up on her once in a while." she replies, turning off the faucet before drying her hands on the towel. I wipe mine off with a paper towel. "Sometimes she's going through something we don't know."

I nod my head, leaning against the counters staring at the hardwood floors. "I know. I don't want to bother her too much, Michelle." She puts a hand on my shoulder reassuringly.

"Trust me when I say this dear," she says softly. "She'll appreciate it if you ask." and she walks away leaving me in deep thought.

I get off of the counters and reached the living room where everybody else is. My dad and Michelle are sitting on the couch laughing with each other and Travis is turning on the Nintendo Switch.

"Hey, bud you up for Mario Kart?" I smirk and he rolls his eyes, handing me a controller.

"You're so on!" he challenges and I sit down next to him on the floor, waiting for the game to pop up.

My dad snorts, "Ty, you sure you gon' beat this kid?"

I roll my eyes at him. Travis sticks his tongue out at me and I flip him off. I get a slap on the shoulder by Michelle.

"Ty!"

I give her a shrug and a wink. "Love you Michelle!" the game starts and we both scream and shout while trying to beat each other in the game.

My phone starts to vibrate and ring. I turn over and turned on my lamp before sliding to accept on the call.

"Hello?" I mutter, glancing at the clock. It's almost one in the morning. I hear shuffling in the background and I sit up, rubbing my eyes.

"Ty! Are you awake?" Blake's voice makes its way into my ears.

I roll my eyes even though he isn't here. "No, Blake I'm dead asleep." he groans and I chuckle.

"Okay, but seriously are you able to come over?" the concern and panic in his voice washes away the teasing in me and I pull on a dark red hoodie before grabbing my house keys.

I open my door, making my way carefully downstairs. "Yeah, I'm on my way over. Is everything okay?"

He sighs, "Cam's having a real bad scare dude. I could hear her crying and shouting and when I tried going in there she told me to call you." my heart stops and I almost stop in my tracks. I unlock my front door and ran down the neighborhood to the Davis's house.

"Alright, let me in." I hang up and I wait outside for the door to open.

My mind is racing about Cameron and if she's okay. She has never had these before and it's freaking the shit out of me. My heart is racing and my breathing is rapid. Finally after what seems like a lifetime, the door opens and I run straight in, ignoring Blake whisper yelling at me.

I go up the stairs straight to Cameron's room and opened the door gently. She's a mess.

Her hair is wildly down with tangles and knots. She's in a black tank top and red sweatpants and I can see the tear stains on the side of her cheek. Her head is down and her arms are crossed on top of her head and I gently close the door behind me. I don't care if Blake yells at me, she's more important right now.

I carefully walk over and placed my things on the table. "Cameron?" I whisper and she lifts her head up ever so slightly. I exhale deeply as I see her bloodshot eyes and the many tears flowing down her cheeks. Strands of hair are sticking to her face and I immediately go over, kneeling beside the bed. She scoots over to me, her legs dangling down the bed and puts her arms around my neck crying into me.

Her head rests on my shoulder and I just rub her back letting her cry. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing but it's breaking my heart. She eventually pulls away and I move back the strands of her hair that are sticking on her face.

"What's wrong, blondie?" I slightly smile and she sniffles, wiling her nose with the back of her hand. I get up to grab the tissue box and she gladly takes it from me.

She laughs softly, "I don't even know why I'm crying." her voice is hoarse and cracking. I sit next to her and she faces me, sitting criss-cross. Her hands rip the tissue and I take it from her, giving her a small pillow to fidget with.

She takes it. "I'm glad you came Ty." I nod.

"Of course I would come. But why me instead of Sierra or Parker?"

She runs her hand through her hair before cringing and grabbing a hair tie to tie her hair up. Her now messy, tangled hair is in a bun and she wipes away the stray tears at the bottom of her chin.

"I just needed you," her voice shakes and I look down at the comforter.

"What's going on blondie?" I quietly ask. She stays silent for a moment and she goes into deep thought.

She starts to laugh and I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. She's.. laughing. Am I dreaming?

Her laughter dies down for a bit and she looks up at me. "I'm a mess," she shakily laughs between her words. "I'm a fucking mess. I can't seem to just be normal. I cry every night, I wish I was different, I fucking hope I can be different. What the hell is wrong with me?" her breathing starts to get out of control and I grab her hands, rubbing her knuckles.

"Hey, hey," I assure her, looking into her pale blue eyes. "Breathe, love, breathe."

"You aren't a mess. You're perfectly capable of yourself. You don't need to be different, you don't ever have to be okay? There's nothing wrong with you. Who the fuck told you that?"

She avoids my gaze and I grab her chin to focus on me.

"Who told you that?" I repeat and she sighs.

"No one. It was me." she confesses and my shoulders tense up. "Ty, I fucking hate myself. I hate everything I do and say. I hate how I'm so emotional every day right after I'm happy. My family is broken, I'm broken! I can't be this girl I used to be." her voice makes me want to cry from how hurt and pained it is. Now the tears are falling from her eyes as she rambles on.

"I don't want this life Ty! It's too much. I just had a fucking nightmare of my dad calling me a slut, whore, bitch. I got cat-called, I got fucking touched by creepy men at a party, and no one was there in that nightmare to help me! I'm so fucking stupid!" she cries on. I squeeze her hands and she squeezes back in relief.

"Ty, I'm so done. So, so fucking done." she whispers shakily, and I pull her in. I hug her for as long as she wants and that's for a while. My heart aches for this girl. For this sweet, happy bundle of joy. My heart physically hurts so much and I just want to cry for her.

"Cameron," I say and she looks up, pulling away. "You are not done. You can fucking love yourself. You're not broken, you're not stupid, you're not what Harry says you are. You are so much more."

"You're beautiful. Inside and out, as cheesy as it sounds, but I know for a fucking fact you have a beautiful soul. A bright smile, brighter than the fucking stars and suns, and a pretty fucking awesome personality. That's good enough. You don't have to be this expectation you set for yourself. You can never be 100% of what you want to be. It'll always go up to 99." she wipes the tears off of her face.

"You hear me?" she nods and smiles. I sigh, rubbing her shoulder. "Get some rest blondie." I say and she nods.

"Thanks Ty." she says quietly. I give her a salute before going to the door.

I turn around before leaving. "Anytime."

I open the door and Blake is sitting on the ground at the top of the steps. He sees me and immediately yanks me to his bedroom. I follow anyway and he closes the door behind him.

"You." he says and I look to the left and right.

"Me?" I ask, pointing to my chest. He scoffs, nodding his head.

"Yes you! What did she say?" he flails his hands up in the air, plopping down on the bed in a huff.

I shake my head, knowing Cameron will tell him when she wants to and when she's ready to. "It's up to her to tell you man." I reply and he nods in understanding.

We sit in silence for a while before he breaks it to ask me something. "Hey Ty?"

I look up at him and he's staring at the wall in front of him. "Yeah?"

"You can't like Cameron okay?" he says and I almost falter from where I stand. Why would he think that?

"I don't, why?" I ask, crossing my arms. He takes a deep breath for answering.

"She's in fucking pain right now dude okay? Her heart can't handle love and shit right now. I know you both have tension. Lots of it. I'm just telling you, it's better if you don't like her." his words somehow took a sharp stab at my heart but I don't show any emotions.

I nod. "I won't, I promise."

He laughs, "You better."

I walk over to the door, wanting to just go back to my bed. I've had enough talking for the night. "Night, Blake."

He waves. "Night Ty."
