And in that moment, I realized that I'm in love.

Cameron's POV

I grab my hair clip to clip up my hair and locked my car. I walk to the bench he told me to meet at and sit there with my notebook. I fix the drawstrings of my grey zip up and the ones on my black shorts. The wind blows against me and hair gets in my face.

Ty called me today to meet up at the park to work on the project. Parker and Evan wanted to meet up with us a bit later to go shopping for the formal coming up at school.

The formal is a winter formal our school and student council does every single year. There's not a theme, just remember that you can't flash a boob or whatever. Girls every year are anxious and so excited to have a date to the formal. The girls and I always went with each other and we're doing that this year. Sierra got a dress from her mom a couple weeks ago and it's so perfect, she's wearing for the formal. No literally, it's absolutely gorgeous and Kaydon would die if he saw her in it.

Parker and I are going shopping to find the perfect one. Now, for the guys? I'm hoping the guys find suits that fit. Blake I'm not worried about, he's actually pretty good with style. Kaydon is also pretty good at suits as well, but Ty and Evan? Those two are terrible with formal outfits.

The one thing I'm terrified for, and has always been afraid of, is the many judgmental looks I'm going to get. I always have a fear of just looking so bad that people will laugh at me or talk shit about me. Dresses always show my body too much for my liking, and I hate it. I would always try and grab a sweater on the way out but Parker had told me that I look fine and amazing.

I'm not sure I did. I felt exposed and not good enough for the dress. I throw away every single one after I wear it.

"There she is!" his voice snaps me out of my daze and I smile. He's wearing a black t-shirt and cream colored pants. I chuckle at Blake's beanie on top of his head and he raises an eyebrow.

"Something funny, Davis?"

I cross my arms and sigh. "Nope, nothing. I don't even know you."

He sits down and leans back, legs spread one of them barely touching mine. "Ouch, that hurts."

"You did it yourself," I snort and he rolls his eyes.

"So, why did you need me to be here today, Mr. Shruder?" I ask, laying the notebook on my leg.

He looks at it curiously and then takes it. Its a blank notebook so there's nothing special in it. He hands it back and looks at me. Those stupid brown eyes piercing through me. "I was wondering if you wanted to work on the project here, but two shitheads just popped out of nowhere," he said lowly. I turn to see Parker and Evan walking towards us and I put on a smile.

"Hey, guys!"

I nudge Ty's leg to be a bit more cheerful. "What are you guys doing here so early?" I question and they sit down next to me. I can see Ty's whole mood flip and I put a hand on his bouncing leg to assure him that it's okay.

"Well looks like Shruder over here is in a pissy mood," Parker snorts and Ty throws a small stick at her to which she catches.

"Wow, Sanchez you caught something!" he gasps dramatically and I whack his shoulder.

Evan puts an arm around the bench and chuckles. "We're here to go formal shopping." he says sarcastically cheerful. Parker sends him a glare and stands up, yanking me up with her.

"Let's go!"

"I hate buying suits," Ty groans as we all walk into the busy mall. Girls are coming out of dress stores with huge bags and hangers with their dress.

Evan clutches onto Parker. "Me too, it's fairly busy at this time." he says wearily.

Parker and I walk side by side to the nearest dress store. It had a beautiful silk black gown at the front hut it wasn't for me. I nudge Ty to get his attention and he immediately looks at me in concern. I nearly laugh at his immediate concern and he raises an eyebrow.

"I'm fine, I was just going to say that you and Evan should go find some suits," I assure him and I can see his shoulders visibly relax. "You and Evan should go find a store."

Parker nods, "Now go!" she shoos them away and they walked away with a rolling of their eyes. Parker drags me inside and I instantly get anxious from the many girls in thus store, frantically looking at dresses.

Some were with their moms, coming out of the dressing rooms and looking at the mirrors. Some were fighting over gowns and screaming. I see some shoot a look our way and they look at us up and down before their eyes widening at our height compared to them. A girl gives me a judging look and I zip up my hoodie and Parker leads me to a more less crowded area.

"Okay, so our plan is to find a dress that you will look good in and you will keep." she points at me and I groan.

"What if I don't want to keep it?"

Parker rolls her eyes in annoyance. "Cam, it's senior year! Please keep these ones, you look good every year okay?" she says softly and I avoid her gaze.

"Trust me, you're too hard on yourself." she puts a hand on my shoulder and begins looking at racks of dresses.

She looks at each dress with an analyzing stare before putting them back. I go to a nearby rack with my size and look through them. I see a sparkly purple mermaid one which does not appeal to me.

My hands felt a very rough felt dress and I walk away from that. My eyes stop on the blue section and I stroll on over there. Another girl is already looking through that section and I just walk by, onto the side of silkier dresses. I stop on a long sky blue silk dress with a slit down the left side. It has more of a square neckline and thin straps and I just gaze at it. It is so beautiful and just stunning. I take it off the rack and on my arm to try on later.

The girl beside me stops right next to me and I turn to her. "Can I help you?" I ask and she narrows her eyes at me.

"I'm just not sure that dress will flatter you." she says and I was taken aback.

"Excuse me?"

"You see, you have to have the right skin tone and neckline to really impress everyone in that dress. I'm not su-" she was cut off by seeing someone next to me and I almost let out a breath of relief when I realize it's Parker with a red dress on her arm and a cold expression on her face.

"You have something to say?" she asks the girl and the girl scoffs, putting a white dress back

"I did, until you interrupted me." Parker laughs and I walk away but still in earshot of what they're saying.

"You don't get to say shit to my best friend, you hear me? She bodies any dress she wears while you can't seem to find a dress that matches your fake ass tan." Parker says bitterly and my eyes widen at her comment.

"Scurry off to the other side of the store. Maybe you'll find luck there."

I hear the sound of boots walking off and I walk back to Parker who fixes her composure. I put a hand on her shoulder and she smiles at me.

"You really didn't-" I started to say but she puts a hand up to cut me off. She side hugs me and takes a look at the dress on my arm.

"This looks absolutely gorgeous! Let's go try them on!" again, she drags me to the fitting rooms and goes inside. The inside of them are busy as well but we find two open ones at the end with a mirror by it. She heads in and winks at me good luck, hoping the dress fits and I walk in as well, locking the door.

I set the dress on a hanger and I look at it. Am I going to "body" this dress like Parker said? I kind of wish Sierra was also here to assure me as well. She would give me honest opinions since she knows my style the most. I begin doing the usual, taking my hair out and slipping on the dress. It fits like an absolute glove, yet I don't even know how I look like. I hear a knock on my door and I open it to a gorgeous Parker in her red dress. Hers is similar at the neckline but hers is tighter at the waist and a higher slit on her right leg.

"Oh dios mio! You look fucking hot in that dress, Cam!" she squeals and I laugh at her little Spanish she rarely says. We both walk out to the mirror and I gasp in all honesty.

The dress checks everything off of my list. It hugs my body perfectly, the slit made my leg look longer, and I felt really nice in it. Until I see a billion other girls behind me have a similar style and look absolutely better in them. It was like Parker could sense my flip in opinion on the dress. "Cam," she says softly and I turn to her.

"You are enough for this dress, you hear me? Don't doubt yourself. You look good and if you don't feel good in it, we can find another one." she assures me and I hug her tight. What would I do without her?

"I hear you, Parker." I chuckle and she hugs me again.

"Now, let's send a picture to Si!" she says cheerfully and I laugh as she takes a mirror picture. She sends it to our groupchat with the three of us and I can hear Sierra spam texting.

I laugh at Parker's typo and she rolls her eyes. We both walk back in our fitting rooms to change and I felt sort of happy now that I think about it. The dress felt like me. I felt really good in it and I'm starting to wonder if I should've doubted myself at first. I put the dress back on the hanger and I walk out at the same time with Parker.

We ended up paying for each others and we she texted Evan to see if the guys were done picking out suits.

"I swear, if Evan chose an ugly ass suit," she trails off and I start laughing at her doubt in Evan.

"Parker, Ty could do so much worse. That boy hates suits." I add and she snorts loudly.

"Only Blake and Kaydon could pick actual good suits," she comments and I nod. Parker said that Evan and Ty were done and waiting at the food court.

We both make our way down the escalator and to the busy food court. People everywhere had food and walking around talking. It was so crowded, I kept bumping into people near me. I look around to find those familiar brown eyes and a dark grey beanie. It was like my eyes immediately sensed where he was and I saw him, already eyeing me. He was glaring at the dudes beside me, almost shoving me, but Parker puts an arm around me to keep me next to her.

"I spot your jealous boy," she whispers and I shake my head, chuckling.

"I see your boy," I whisper back and we both are in fits of laughter as we sit across from the two. They look at us confusingly and we both calm down to them both. We set our hangers and the dresses in the protective bag on the table. I spot their suits in boxes instead.

"Beckett, I'm hoping you got a good suit." she warns and he shoots his hands up in defense.

"Hey! The guy at the desk suggested it so it's not my fault," he defends and she rolls her eyes.

"But you bought it so it is your fault if its bad," she points out and he shakes his head while smiling. I look at Ty.

"Did you find a good suit?" I ask as Evan and Parker are in their own world, bickering. Ty looks at my face up and down before answering.

"I did, pretty unique if you ask me," he says with a smirk. "I called in Kaydon and Blake to help."

"Ah, you asked the two who know more about suits to help you." I sigh and he shakes his head.

"I picked it, they helped me decide between another one and the one I got." he corrects me with a smug grin and I narrow my eyes.

"Well, can I see it?"

He shakes his head, "Nope. Not until the formal."

I smile and I look at my dress. "Same with my dress," I say and he puts a hand out for me to shake.

"Deal, princess?"

My jaw drops at the nickname and I whack his hand. My heart is beating rapidly and I hope my cheeks aren't red.

"Deal, babe." I wink playfully and I swear I saw his breathing stop and his eyes slightly shifted but he covers it up with a playful grin.

"I seriously think you guys are dating secretly without us knowing," I hear Parker whispering and I shoot her a glare.

"Just friends, you know." I reply and she raises an eyebrow in question.

"Friends don't look at each other like that every second and don't have huge levels of sexual tension." she says with a knowing look before returning her conversation with Evan.

Look at each other like what? There's tension? I seriously think she's messing with me. There's no way. We're just friends.

Right?
