Meera's POV

I slowly open my eyes and look around at the unfamiliar surroundings. It takes a moment for me to register everything. Suddenly everything comes rushing back. I snap my head towards Abhi, he looks the same. I look down to see that I'm still holding his hand , I let it go and stand up stretching my body which is extremely sore from the uncomfortable position I slept in. 

I open my phone to check the time. Its 6am and visiting hours don't start till 7. I just sit and stare at him, he looks so lifeless . 

"Hey, you have been unconscious for around 10 hours. I miss you so much, so please get up. I miss your smile and I cant believe I'm saying this but I even miss your stupid smirks ." I'm just hoping to get some reaction but I don't get anything. I sigh and kiss his forehead. 

After a few minutes the doctor comes in. He has to run some tests and then the nurse has to change the dressings so they ask me to wait for some time. 

While I'm waiting outside ma, Alia and Adi arrive. 

"How's he, did he wake up", ma asks looking hopeful.

I shake my head," The doctor is in there, running a few tests, then we'll know"

"Meera  beta you go home for sometime, freshen up and comeback. I'm sure you haven't even eaten anything. Thodi der baad aa jaana", ma says.

"No I'm not leaving him, what if he wakes up and I'm fine, I'm not hungry". I say shaking my head.

"Bhabi if you don't eat anything you'll fall sick and when Bhai gets up and finds out he won't like it. Alia will go with you, plus we are here if anything happen we'll call you immediately"

I reluctantly agree. Alia and I head home. I enter our room and everything reminds of Abhi. I quickly take a shower which makes me fell a lot better. I put on a pale blue kurti and brush my hair. I go downstairs. Alia is in the kitchen. She hands me a plate with sandwiches and a cup of coffee.

I start eating slowly, not really having any appetite. As I'm munching on my sandwiches my phone starts to ring. Nikhil is calling me, probably to ask about Abhi. I answer it:

N: Hello, Meera you are at you house right?

M: Yeah, what happened?

N: So uncle and I are trying to take care Reyansh but he's not listening to us and is constantly              asking for you and Abhi. Can you come here?

M: Yes, sure. I'll be there in 15mins.

N: cool, bye

I disconnect the call and somehow finish eating. Then Alia and I leave for the Malhotra mansion.

The moment we enter Nikhil comes rushing towards us with a teary Reyansh in his arms.

"Thank god you are here. I love him a lot but he's a mini devil, exactly like Abhi. Talking about Abhi never tell him that I said that", Nikhil says seriously handing Reyansh to me. Despite myself I chuckle lightly. 

Looking at Rey now I feel bad or leaving him. It looks likes he has been crying for a long time. 

He fists the cloth of my dress and places his head on my shoulder. He stays like that for a few minutes then lifts his head and looks at me with teary eyes . I wipe his tears and kiss his cheek which makes him giggle. At least he is in a better mood now. 

I then make him sit in his chair and make him eat his food. Soon after that he falls asleep .

I go to the hospital again. Abhi is still the same, though his wounds are healing steadily.

2 more days pass with the same routine. Abhi is still not awake and that is making me extremely anxious. Dad and Karan also came to visit during these days.

Today is the third day , his reports show that he is healing steadily and that is the only thing keeping me sane right now. 

Reyansh and I are current at home. He's sitting on my lap and playing with a few toys. I am lost in my thoughts when ma calls me. Why is she calling me? Is Abhi fine?

I answer the phone quickly and she says that Abhi is awake. Right then my happiness knows no bounds. I tell Sarla aunty to make Reyansh sleep as its time for his nap anyways. 

I rush to the hospital. I reach Abhi's room and find ma, Alia and Adi standing around his bed. As I enter the room they turn towards me . I see Abhi propped against the bed , awake. They have removed most of the bandages around his face , leaving only a few faint scars. 

Everyone else leaves as I walk towards Abhi's bed. 

"You're awake", I whisper more to reassure myself. A tear slips out of my eye, mainly out of happiness. He looks confused for a second and then says,

"Do I know you?"

I freeze. Shock, that is the first thing I feel followed by disbelief.

"You really don't remember me?"

"Um, no", he says.

I back away a little. This cannot be happening. How can he just forget everything.

Author's POV

Abhimanyu slowly tries to open his eyes . The moment he crack open an eyelid , white light floods in. He blinks a few times trying to adjust to the brightness. 

He tries to speak but his throat is so dry that he can barely get a word out. He hears muffled sounds around him. After a few moments his hazy vision becomes clearer. He looks around to find multiple wires around him. He shifts slightly and a sharp pain shoots up his body.

"Mr. Malhotra please stay still", someone says. He does so and waits for the pain to subside. Someone brings a glass of water near his mouth and he drinks it. 

Once he is fully conscious he remembers bits and pieces of that night. He was driving home,  and then some car him him. He can't remember anything after that.  

"Thank god , you're awake Abhi", Nandini say hugging him carefully. 

"How are you feeling now bhai?", Adi asks him.

He looks around the room and the first thing he says is ,"where's Meera?".

"I called her, she's coming ", Nandini replies. Just then the doctor comes in and asks Abhi a few questions.

"How are you feeling now Mr. Malhotra?"

"Horrible", Abhi grumbles.

"That's understandable. What's the last thing that you remember?"

"I was going home last night and another car came out of nowhere and crashed into me"

"That's correct but it wasn't last night, this happened 3 days ago. You have been in coma all this time."

"For 3 days?", Abhi asks shocked.

"Yes, you were very severely injured. You are very lucky to be alive right now"

The doctor asks him a few more questions and runs a few tests. After the doctor leaves Nandini sits beside Abhi and says,

"You worried us all so much beta"

"I'm fine now", Abhi says but he keeps glancing at the door yearning to see Meera. 

A minute later the door opens and Meera comes into view. She's wearing a a white kurti and her hair is flowing behind her. His angel, he smiles looking at her. Suddenly an idea comes into his mind. 

As Meera comes towards him and everyone else leaves giving them privacy to talk. She comes and stands beside him and he takes a moment to admire her. 

You're awake", she whisper and a  tear slips out of her eye.

"Do I know you?", Abhi pretends to have lost some of his memory.

She freezes, the colour draining off her face.

"You really don't remember me?"

"Um, no", he says again

She backs away a little looking hurt. Oops, he over did it. She turns around to walk out when he calls her out. 

"Meera, I could never forget you", Abhi says. She turns to face him with a blank look on her face.

"So you were just pretending this entire time?", Meera asks him calmly.

"Yes, I- cou", Abhi begins to say with a sheepish smile but she cuts him off.

"You inconsiderate jerk. You think this is funny. I fucking hate you", she yells and runs out.

Abhi genuinely looks confused right now. What just happened? Did she just tell him that she hates him. 

"Wait, Meera , he calls out but in vain. 

Nandini sees Meera coming out of Abhi's room and goes up to her.

"What happened, is he fine?"

"Don't worry ma, he is perfectly fine", Meera replies. 

Alia and Nandini go inside while Meera is talking to the doctor outside.

When Alia enters Abhi's room, she finds him trying to get up. Both of them immediately rush to him and help him lie down.

"Bhai why the hell are you trying to get up?", Alia asks Abhi.

Abhi explains everything to them. " I dint know that she'll get angry", he concludes.

"Of course she'll get angry. Meera has been here almost all the time for the past three, worried sick about you. The only times she went home was when Reyansh needed her. Obviously anyone would be mad", Nandini tells him.

"Shit, can you go call her".

"She's outside only talking to someone , he's one of your doctors , I think", Alia says. 

Abhi was furious thinking about her talking to some random man.

"Tell that person to fuck off and ask her to come in now", Abhi tells Alia.

"Abhimanyu, mind you language", Nandini tells him. Both of them go out and Meera comes in a moment later. She crosses her arms and stands beside his bed.

"Meera, I'm sorry. I dint mean to hurt you. I would hold my ears but-", he says gesturing towards his injured hand. She doesn't respond. He continues anyways, " Ma told me that you were here almost all the time. You shouldn't have done that for me . I can't even imagine ho-"

"You think everything is about you. Well news flash Mr. Abhimanyu Malhotra it is not. I was here because I wanted to be here. I was here because I love you and I had to know that you were alright. It was for MY peace of mind and not for you", she finally bursts out. 

Unknowingly she had confessed that she loves him. Using his uninjured hand he holds her hand and guides her to sit beside him. 

"Did you just say you love me", Abhi asks, his happiness knowing no bounds

"Is that all you got from everything I said", she asks and he nods.

"I'm sorry for putting you through all this", Abhi says sincerely. 

Meera wraps her arms around him burying her face in his shoulder, sobbing lightly. 

"Shh, Meera, love, please don't cry", Abhi says kissing her forehead. 

"You were hurt and unconscious for three days. I thought that even you'll leave me ", she says through the her tears.

"I know but I'm fine now and I'm right here. You cant get rid of me so soon. Please don't cry"

Meera  lifts her head and wipes her tears. " If you ever do something like this again, I sear I'll never talk to you again".

"Okay, I promise I wont. Now come here, I never asked you to get up", Abhi says pouting like a child.

"You'll get hurt", Meera protests.

"You being away hurts more, come her", He says pulling her close to him using his non-injured arm . She rests her head on his shoulder as he pulls her closer. "I love you so much", he says against her hair.

"I love you", she says back kissing his cheek. He turns to face her and captures her lips with his. Meera breaks ways first scared of hurting him. 

"I've wanted to that from the moment you walked in", Abhi says and Meera hums in response. 

"You should sleep, you've barely recovered and need all the rest you can", Meera says standing up.

"I've been asleep for 3 days, I don't want  to sleep anymore", Abhi says pulling her back.

"It's not your choice, they are going to give you pain meds and a sedative", Meera says and as if on cue a nurse comes in. Meera tries getting up but he doesn't let her. 

"Stay", he says

"Okay", she replies leaning against him and for the first time in three days he falls asleep peacefully.
