It's the first time I've been to a party without the whole gang, it was just Adam, Rhiannon, Edward and I that was invited to Rachel's thing. Which is supposedly a small gathering for dinner and drinks.

It was on a hotel rooftop, over the top decorated and people dressed in glamor. Of course, a "small gathering", there were at least close to about a 100 people here.

"And i thought we were pretentious" Edward whispered to Rhiannon and I, throwing an olive into his mouth, his playful attitude being the only thing to sort of calm us down.

I was wearing my figure hugging red lace dress, down to my thighs, compensating it's simplicity with jewelry and makeup, that'll do for me. While Rhiannon wore leather pants and knee high boots, she was coming for blood, announcing that she is not to be messed with tonight.

It had only been 15 minutes or so since we got there together, Adam's hand cradling mine, he kept pulling me closer to him.

But that was soon intercepted when Rachel made a bee line through the crowd, strutting as she made her way towards us, her black dress dragging behind her feet, her signature red lips formed into a smirk, "So nice of you to make it" she called out, her eyes bouncing from each and every one of us before landing on Adam.

"Adam, i have some people here for you to meet" I don't know where the god damn fuck she got the confidence from, her hand reached over to cling onto his arm, slightly tugging at him, pulling him away from us. "Uh R-Rachel"

A confused expression glossed over his face, turning to look at me and Rhiannon, who was shooting daggers at the woman. But Rachel was adamant, strong willed, she overpowered him enough to actually drag him away, confident enough to drape her arm over his bicep as she lead him towards the crowd.

My heart sank as i watched it all happen before my eyes. What. The. Fuck

"Now i know she did not just fucking do that" Rhiannon seethed, her lips parted in shock. "You gotta fight her"Β  Edward was equally surprised, a bunch of wrapped cheese and salami on his palm.

She reeked of authority, and i know she's not gonna let anything get in her way, she's like the girls actually, like Erika and Rhiannon, except, she's possibly evil. I always wondered what it would be like to get on the wrong side with the girls, you don't want to be their enemy oh god no. They have all the resources and the power to give you hell, and now i think I'm gonna find out what that's like. Something tells me Rachel always gets what she wants, and it's aching my heart to realize that Adam could be it.

There's two ways I could go about this, confront her like i did with Jenna, or let things play out. The difference with Jenna and Rachel was that Jenna, was highly misunderstood, spoilt and immature, and all she needed was a friend. I mean it's crazy, all i did was give her bare minimum advice and six months later shes in Milan and living it the fuck up, but Rachel? She knows her shit, she knows what she wants.

There's only so much i can do, if Adam himself wont do much about it, and I know he is, i saw him put her in her place. Besides, she's a potential business partner, I don't want to get in the way of fucking things up for him at work. This is so yucky.

I could see crowd of people gathered around Adam and Rachel, busily chatting and and even laughing with wine and whiskey glasses in their hands. And each time she gets just a little closer to him, going so far as to caress his back or cling onto his shoulder as if they were a couple, my heart stung 10 times deep, a lump in my throat crudely forming. This was slowly becoming uncomfortable and unbearable to watch.

Every time our eyes locked, he gave me a warm smile, attempting to move past the crowd to walk up to me, making me momentarily forget what was upsetting me earlier.

But each time he tried to do so, some person in the crowd, or even Rachel, catches him in a conversation, breaking his attention from me, bringing him further back into the crowd. "That bitch is despicable" Rhiannon chastised, a champagne glass in her hand.

She was glaring into the crowd, "Don't worry we got you" Edward stood next to me, his towering figure bringing a sense of comfort and protection. I guess the couple adopted me tonight, standing on either side like my bodyguards.

I couldn't help but smile at the comfort they were bringing me, grateful that I don't have to see what i was seeing, alone. "Let's pull the fire alarm, so we can all just get the fuck out" the heir to Alexander Motors, whispered to the two of us, taking a sip of whiskey.

That would be a nice plan actually, there's nothing more i want than to get the fuck out from this place.

They could only do so much however, when Rhiannon was approached by an old man with a beer belly and obnoxious gold rings adorning his finger, claiming to know her father and capturing her to a imprisoning conversation, which prompted Edward to stand guard by her.

And now here we are, alone in this party, my friends caught up to converse with a stranger and my boyfriend essentially help captive by a woman whom I'm pretty sure is pretending to act like his girlfriend. Feeling awkward to stand alone, i found myself texting Liam about everything.

"She sounds condescending" he texted back, immediately making me feel less alone and comforted. "Want me to come pick you up?"

Although the idea of leaving this party is my utmost priority, I can't up and leave Adam, and Edward and Rhiannon. This sucks, disrespectfully.

"Nah, i gotta stay back :(" i sighed, dissociating from my body to jump into my bubble, distancing myself from the party altogether, "OOO tell me about today!" I inquired excitedly, interning clasping my hands together as if i came up with an evil plan like a cartoon villain, or like how those flies do?

There was a pause, the sounds of chattering and clinking of glasses echoing around my ears, which i was desperately trying to tune out. Liam is anyway a really bad texter, he takes about 10 minutes just to send out three words, every single day he convinces me that he's an 80 year old on the inside, or possibly time travelled. This gonna take a while.

"She's Sofia, i knew her a little school" oh? Interesting, but I'll always be team Hollis. "And?" I prodded. Oh god he's gonna take another 10 minutes to reply back, i impatiently tapped my foot on the floor, messing around with my phone to seem distracted until he responds back light years later.

"We just hung out" i pursed my lips, holding back my smile. Sure Liam, 'hung out'.Β

"By hanging out you mean going feral on each other in the middle of the day?"

I know he's blushing like a strawberry right now, I've teased him enough times to picture his exact face. "It was one kiss :P" another reason why i think he's actually a grandpa is because of his use of the old time emojis and not the ones that comes with the phone? That it rubbed off on everyone, including me, that i now use regressive emoticons and not the emojis, but that also could be because he's lazy to search for the myriad of emojis to best suit his text. "Do we see this going anywhere? Please say yes?"

We are so close to seeing him happy with somebody, let this be it. "Maybe, we'll see" i internally groaned, if he just for once, took down his walls, which i know it isn't easy, it took me a really long time. But you never know till you do. "Do you like her?"

There was an extended pause, he's either texting slow or thinking real hard for an answer, "so far, a little"

YAY, PROGRESS, GET IT SOFIA

"Fucking finally Sawyer" a smile on my face, i replied back, i love a cute blossoming relationship.

"I see you're occupied" a sharp familiar voice broke me from my bubble, shooting up to meet the dark eyed, red lipped Rachel standing in front of me, her fingers holding onto a champagne glass, her glassy skin shone under the dozen shimmering fairy lights.

My heart immediately sank, for some strange reason, i felt almost incapacitated from speaking.

"It's admirable to watch how he's got the crowd going" walking to stand beside me, she gestured at Adam, taking slow sips from her glass, I felt my body turn to stone. "I- yeah"

Is she really going to openly thirst over my boyfriend, next to me? Audacity is an understatement. CALL . HER. OUT.

Silence

Oh my god what do i do? Do i just walk away?

"And what do you do Antheia?" Her condescending tone was stabbing into me, making my heart violently beat against my chest, "um wh-"

"Never mind, i don't care" she caught me off guard, my brows raised as i watched her attitude shift, from what was once a supposedly welcoming guest to a rude and demeaning one. What the fuck is happening.

I watched her stare across the room, dragging her gaze back, her glare now stare at me. we're both the same height, maybe even an inch shorter than me, but why do i feel so... small?

"It's awfully insolent of you to be amongst us, isn't it?"Β  She spat. "Excuse me?"

She inhaled deeply, crossing her arms across her chest, she scanned me from head to toe, "I don't know if you've known, i assume you don't, you seem far too ignorant" my brain is going blank, i in no way anticipated this sudden attack, why is my throat going dry. "but Adam is capable of greatness, he can achieve so much, but yet here you are, anchoring him down to your level of mediocrity" she tilted her head in a mocking manner.

"It's both tragic and selfish"Β

My heart sank deeper into the pit forming in my stomach, my lips parted, I couldn't believe i was hearing. The burning sensation of tears formed on my waterline, hindering me from responding back, "What? Wh- the fuck is your problem?"

Unfortunately, this is the best i could do.

She scoffed, rolling her eyes, "Look at the Kings, look at him, you've seen all the things they can do" she licked her bottom lip, taking a sip from her finishing glass of champagne, "What do you offer to the table? Nothing"

I felt my knees weak, my head dizzying, "you don't belong here, you're not like us" she looked across the room, a pretentious smile on her face as if she didn't spend the last few minutes verbally degrading me.

"I-"

"If i were you, I'd take what's left of my pathetic dignity and walk away" her glare was deepening into me, "Adam's not meant for someone like you Antheia"

I stared back into her venomous gaze, all of the bustling sounds around me, tuning out. "What are you saying?" I croaked.

"He needs someone by his side, to understand what he's doing, and build with him. And that will never be the likes of a dullard like you" She gave me a sharp condescending smirk, eyeing me from head to toe once more, reading my reaction and smiling victoriously.

"Hey, I'm so sorry, you wanna go?" Adam's familiar voice caught me by surprise, pulling me away from the shocked stupor i was in. I shyed from his gaze, attempting to collect myself before answering him.

"I'll see you back at work?" She cooed, her pretentious smile adorning her face, reaching out to kiss him on his cheek, her nails digging onto his bicep before walking away. "I tried to avoid her all night for fuck sake" he sighed, his familiar warm hand snaking to grab mine.

"Yeah let's go" i nodded, finding whatever strength inside me to respond back.

For the first time ever, I couldn't stand up myself.
