Someday I'll wish upon a star
Wake up where the clouds are far behind me
- Israel Kamakawiwoʻole

We shift, Atia takes over. She picks up the bag from the ground and runs quickly to the pack border.

A loud howl erupts from behind us.
Juda is warning the patrol warriors.

Hurry Atia, we won't have much time now.

I can see the border getting closer.

More howls come from behind, Alpha Juda has joined them. The second we cross over. He won't be able to stop us.

Just another 50 yards to freedom.

Atia is in full stride, we are so close, just then something bites our foot.
We tumble over. Unable to control the sudden force knocking us to the ground.
She gets up and growls at our attacker.

Although I've only seen him once, I recognize this wolf as Judas. His eyes are locked onto ours. He towers over us by at least a foot, if not more. A whimper leaves from him, his eyes are begging us not to do this. A part of me almost feels sorry for his wolf, they can't control the way they feel. But, as quickly as that bit of concern came, it left.

As he steps towards us, when out of nowhere another wolf comes out of the shadows. The wolf lunges at Alpha Juda catching him off guard.

What is happening.

It's dark and I can't really make out who the wolf is but I don't waste this opportunity. We get up and run to the border. If we waste another second the border wolves will be here and we would be captured.
Whoever this wolf is, he did us a favor. I just wish I could know his name. I will pay him back, if they don't kill him tonight, I swear to the Moon Goddess.
We rush through the border lines and I can feel the last piece of the pack land ties leave me.
I can hear the river now.
Atia picks up the pace.
We approach the river bed.

Without a second though Atia dives in.

The cold river water washes our scent away.

We are finally free.
