Asher's POV

The secret of making things work in your lives is, first of all, the deep desire to make it work; then the faith and the belief that it can work; then to hold the definite vision in your consciousness and see it working out step by step, without one doubt or disbelief. I'm not even on step one. The mating bond is something I cannot deny. Something I cannot avoid. I had tried but failed miserably. My deep desire to make our bond work is no where in sight. All I can think about is how something will happen, which will turn the bond into shreds. But I cannot avoid her.

If you asked me what I liked about Alicia, I wouldn't have an exact answer, because to be honest there isn't a real reason behind why I do. There's just something about her. Her personality, the way she smiles, or her humour. Something about her catches my attention and draws me to her. Something other than the bond.

I wasn't looking for a Mate. I didn't want one. I didn't deserve one. No one should be stuck with me. No one deserves such a harsh punishment. Especially Alicia. She's beautiful inside and out. But sometimes I can't help it. Sometimes the desire is too overwhelming. Every time I would tell myself that I didn't want the bond, but the first image that would run through my mind was another man's hands on her.

She was mine. Only mine.

Chance's POV

The office door opened and Asher walked in being his normal moody self. He walked across his desk and sat behind it taking out some papers, beginning to work.

"Is she asleep?"I asked getting off the couch, walking to stand by him. He nodded. "Everyone leave" I sighed and waited until they did.

"What are we going to do?" I peered over his shoulder checking out the markings he was placing on the Pack's territorial map.

"What's this?" I walked around the desk so I was sitting in front of him.

'Precausations'

"What are you going to do, about Alicia?" I hesitated slightly wary of his reaction. He looked at me but didn't say a word. He looked back down.

"You cannot ignore what just happened, Alpha" I tried not to raise my voice understanding the consequences it would lead to. Like I said before, I may be his best friend - brother even - but that didn't mean the Pack rules were any different to me. I was a Pack member just like the rest, therefore acted like the rest.

'I'm going to protect her'

"Of course you are, but how?" I replied crossing my arms over my chest.

'By finding out how the Mutts entered my land'  He growled. I knew he was starting to get angry. He had a very short fuse.

"We're already working on that. They should have answers soon" I said hoping my answer would calm him down. Before he could say anything else there was a knock on the door.

"Come in" I called out. A guard entered.

"We know how the Rogues got in" He shuffled on his feet making sure not to make eye contact with the Alpha. I nodded at him to continue.

"Wolfsbane." He said.

"That's impossible. There is no way they can release wolfsbane near the Pack grounds. We have Ghost Orchids planted everywhere. Wolfsbane can never work around those"

"Yes Beta, but it wasn't released into the air." he replied.

'The Food' Asher's voice echoed in my head. Now it made sense.

"But how?" that was the real question. How on earth did they manage to poison the food?

"My guesses are during the re-stocking." The guard spoke up. I nodded taking some time to think.

"This was a planned attack. Like I said before, they were branded, meaning someone sent them to specifically do a job. What the job was, I have no idea" I sighed running a hand through my hair.

"You can leave" I told the guard who stood by the door awkwardly. He rushed out of the room.

"No one dares to lift a finger against this Pack. So who is the moron who thinks he can attack and get away with it?" I scoffed.

"The attack wasn't against the Pack." Asher said. Asher speaking was a rare occurrence but since Alicia's arrival he's began to speak more. Every now and then Asher would speak to me and but mostly through the mind-link. Asher has never spoken to the Pack. Not even once. I hold all his speeches and talks.

"Alpha, they clearly attacked us" I stressed.

"To get Alicia" He growled. Oh. We sat in silence for the next few minutes while Asher tried to calm himself down. 'I'm going to the gym'  he said getting out of chair, heading for the door.

{A/N: My Homiesss....Wassup!!??...There was a surprise POV from Asher at the start of the chapter. It wasn't long but I just wanted to give you a slight insight on his life. Hopefully it wasn't wasted. Also I'm not very good at writing from a male's point of view since I'm a girl. I don't know what the hell goes through their minds. I don't have any brothers to inspire me either. Anyway I'll try to make the next chapter a little more interesting *wink wink* but until then please...
