Morgan Pov

I laid in bed miserable. When I woke up this morning, Calum wasn't in the room. Part of me didn't think he even slept in here last night.

I felt terrible about our fight the other day. It was wrong of me to disobey him, but it was also wrong of him to keep me in here against my will.

"Knock knock." Lucas said instead of actually knocking before coming in.

"What do you want? I'm not in the mood for socializing right now."

"Tsk. So you're just going to lay in bed all day then?"

"Yes." I said snuggling further into the covers.

"I tried to warn you. Why can't you see that he will always treat you like a possession to control rather than an equal?"

"He's my mate." I whimpered.

"Not a very good one."

"Don't talk about him like that. He's your alpha."

"Alright. I won't say anything more about it." He conceded.

"Thank you. Now what did you really come in here to to do."

"I know sitting in here is awful for you. I have an idea of how we can get you out of here for a few hours without the alpha knowing."

I instantly shot up in a sitting position to look at him. "I'm listening."

"So here's the plan," he started before moving to sit on the bed.

"No! No! No!" I rushed out. "You can't sit there. Calum could smell that you were in here last time. If he caught your scent on the bed, he would go absolutely ballistic. It would be worse than last night was and I don't want to witness that."

"You're right. We can't give Calum any reasons to be suspicious about us."

"Yeah."

"First things first, to get you out we'll need a disguise." He began formulating the plan.

"And that would be?"

"My hoodie and sunglasses."

"That's a good idea. You wear a lot of cologne so it'll definitely mask my scent."

He looked at me incredulous. "I do not use too much cologne."

"Yeah, you kinda do."

"You only think that because you have strong sense of smell."

"All werewolves have a strong sense of smell." I shot back.

He gave me an annoyed yet playful look. I only smiled back. I was enjoying our bantering and I could tell that he was too.

"Ok we're getting off track. Once we have you dressed, I'll sneak you into a guest room that's the fifth door on the left in the next hallway over."

I nodded along to the new information, letting him know I understood.

"Xavier and I will be switching shifts in ten minutes so we need to hurry. Once I get you in the room, Xavier will take my spot outside the door and we can head out."

"Won't Xavier realize I'm gone."

"Has he ever even stepped foot in this room?"

I sat there and thought about it. I rarely ever saw Xavier even though he was constantly near me by being outside my room. Lucas was the only guard that would talk to me and wasn't afraid to help me get freedom.

"No. The plan sounds good but what if Calum finds out I'm missing again? I can't handle another fight with him right now." I said. Simply remembering last night was enough to make my palms sweat.

"He's not going to find out, I promise. We will only be gone an hour and a half. I'm sorry that's all the time I could buy us."

"It's enough. How will we get back?"

"Xavier will still be by your door, but I have the shift under the window." He looked at me with a wicked gleam in his eyes.

"No way-"

"We have less than five minutes now." He cut me off. " Make your decision now. Either you come with me or stay in here for the rest of your life."

"Fine. I'll do it."

He nodded as if he knew I'd choose that all along. He quickly moved over to the window and unlatched the hooks that kept it locked. It was a good thing he'd thought of that so I could get in later.

When he was close to me again, he set his hand at the small of my back and led me towards the door.

"Down that hallway, fifth door to the left." He instructed me.

Footsteps could be heard coming up the stairs and I sped over to where Lucas had told me to go while he stayed in his position at the door.

In the guest room, a hoodie and pair of sunglasses had already been laid out on the bed. Without hesitation, I pulled the hoodie over my head. It smelled of Lucas' cologne and his natural woodsy scent.

Lucas was in the room with me before I had a chance to put on my sunglasses.

"You look good in my hoodie." Was the first thing he said to me.

I blushed deeply before saying, "Thank you."

The sunglasses went on my face and he pulled me out of the room. We walked a different way so that we wouldn't have to pass Xavier. I swear this house is more like a maze.

"Where are we going anyway?"

For a moment, I nearly felt stupid for following him without an understanding of what we would be doing. I had been so desperate to leave that room I would go anywhere else given the option.

"The woods. I'm assuming you haven't let your wolf out in a while."

I jumped up in excitement and almost squealed. It truly had felt like forever since I was last in wolf form. I missed the sensation of the forest floor under my paws and the way I could run faster than humanly possible.

The walk to the woods had taken longer than I hoped, but I was glad to have gone unnoticed by anyone.

"Turn around." I told Lucas when it was time to undress before shifting.

"Alright."

"And no peeking." I added for good measure.

"I promise I won't look."

True to his word, his eyes remained facing the trees rather than me. I successfully undressed and shifted into my light brown wolf. Instead of waiting for him, I dashed off further into the woods.

It wasn't long before his large grey wolf caught up to me. He was fairly bigger and faster than me, each one of his steps was powerful.

For the next hour, we played and ran together in the woods. It felt like I was home in the woods and there was a freedom in being a wolf that I couldn't give up.
