Morgan Pov

I quietly followed after Xavier and Lucas.

I was used to Xavier being around, but Lucas was unfamiliar to me. He was seemingly the exact opposite of Xavier. Whereas Xavier had rich chocolate brown skin, Lucas' was a creamy white. His blonde hair and easygoing smile made him seem a lot less intimidating than Xavier. They both had a fair amount of muscle but Lucas was much more lean while Xavier was bulky.

I looked around as we walked and noticed that we were in a part of the house that I'd never been in before.

"Where are we going? Isn't my room the other way?" I asked them.

"We're just taking you where the alpha told us to." Lucas replied.

It seemed I was right about him being the nicer one of the two. Then again, I was pretty sure Xavier was still not happy about me tricking him for my escape earlier. He could've gotten in big trouble with Calum and it had to be at least slightly embarrassing to get outsmarted by someone who is half his size.

"Is your alpha good to you?" I asked him. I wanted to know more about my mate and what he was like. If I couldn't find out from Calum, his guards would surely tell me.

"Yeah. The alpha's a good man. A bit demanding at times, but he treats us well."

"Would you consider him as friend?"

"No. The alpha doesn't have many friends. He's close to his beta but that's about it. If he becomes friends with pack members they often end up asking for favors from him and he doesn't want to play favorites." Lucas told me.

I frowned at hearing this. It sounded like my mate had a pretty lonely life. It hurt me knowing people would use him just for his position.

It was then that we finally stopped in front of a door. I knew that it wasn't to the room I'd been staying in and it didn't quite make sense to me why we were here.

"In you go." Xavier told me as he opened the door.

Stepping into the room, some of my confusion was erased. His smell was everywhere. I knew whose room it belonged to, but I still didn't understand why I was here.

I stepped further into the room examining it. There were a couple doors to the left, which I assumed led to a bathroom and the closet. Across from me lay a massive king sized bed covered with soft cyan comforter. To my right was a whole sitting area with a couch in front the TV and a large gaming system. Right next to that was a small kitchen area. This was less of a bedroom and more of an apartment.

I turned around to ask my guards why I was in Calum's room only to meet the sight of a door being closed.

As much as I wanted to explore the room, I stood there disappointed at being alone again. The guard's weren't exactly my friends, however, they were the only people here that I talked to.

Deciding I could go for a snack, I moved over to the kitchen area to search for food. I started opening cabinets to see what they held. There were mostly cups and plates in the few overhead cabinets.

Looking into the small pantry, I found canned goods, granola bars, and various cereals. One thing in there that surprised me was several packs of Cosmic Brownies. They were the most unhealthy food item I had seen since I arrived here and I couldn't imagine Calum munching on them.

Moving on to the refrigerator, I looked in to see things like milk, cheese, and cold cut meat. I also found the perfect snack. There were many Tupperware containers holding sliced fruit. I grabbed one with watermelon and a fork before I walked to the bed where I laid down and ate.

Eventually, with a full stomach and the comfiest bed in the world, my eyes began to close and I swiftly fell asleep.

"Wake up, Morgan." Calum whispered while gently shaking my arm.

I peeked my eyes open to see Calum sitting next to me with a soft smile.

"Would you like to have dinner with me tonight? I see you've already eaten all my watermelon."

"There wasn't that much left anyway." I shot back.

He chuckled at me before continuing, "Would you like something more to eat?"

"Yes. I'm always up for food."

"Good. I like girls who have a large appetite."

I didn't respond to his compliment. It didn't sit well with me that he probably liked many other girls shortly before I arrived. Maybe he still does.

I remembered why I didn't like my mate right now and with that thought the silence between us grew awkward.

"Let's go." He said standing from the bed.

"Where?"

"Downstairs. We'll have dinner there."

I followed Calum out of the room and even turned to see Lucas and Xavier standing on either side of the door.

The dining room was large and the table had more than enough seats for the two of us. In fact, several pack members that stayed in the house were already seated and talking.

They immediately stopped as their alpha entered the room. Calum took a seat at the head of the table and gestured for me to sit in a chair next to him.

When I sat down, many young woman came out serving us with full plates. The meal was a simple chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans.

The food was delicious but I couldn't help but feel odd the whole time we ate dinner. No one talked to me. None of the males even looked at me, which had to have been Calum's doing.

It upset me that Calum wouldn't talk to me either. He simply shoveled food into his mouth.

Even though the food was good, it was the worst dinner of my life.
