Chapter Seven// Charlotte Grayson

The weekend went by so fast and it was already Sunday night. Sadly school starts tomorrow and it's going to be a hectic week since every teacher wants to push everything into one week.
Basically we have this week to learn new things that might be on exams.

So I'm going to be dead by the end of this week.. Yay me! I'm going to be drowning in Satan's house bills.

"Are you just going to stand there or help me prepare for dinner?" My mom asked, putting her hand on her hip.

"Yes mommy, what are we makin'?" I ask her sitting on the granite countertop. She went to the fridge and pulled a few things out. Couldn't see her because she was purposely blocking the fridge from me.

"Mom!" I yell, hearing a slight laugh slip from her lips.

"Okay okay okay, I want to try something new. The restaurant your father and I went to last night they cooked fried frog legs and it was really good!" My mother gushed out and I gagged. "No you will not make that face until you try it! I went to that little Chinese market our neighbor goes to and I spend 60 bucks on those frog legs! We are eating it and you only know about it because you are helping me cook them." She stubbornly says, bringing all the ingredients to the center counter.

I almost barfed up my breakfast when I saw the actual frog legs. God kill me now please. I don't want to eat frog legs!

My mother looks over at me smirking a little before picking up a frog leg and walks over to me. "Wash them off please and don't you dare freak out and throw up on them."

At the moment I wish I was on my period just so I don't have to cook.

Dammit.

Following my mother's instructions, my hands found themselves cleaning the stupid frog legs. She told me to be delicate with the legs because they break easily. It was slimy and just plain disgusting, but when my mom wants to do something... well she does it. With the frog legs we are having mash potatoes and asparagus. I hope she knows what she is doing.

"Okay put the legs in that pan right there and I'll season them. Start cutting up the potatoes and season the asparagus. You know how to cook those, don't you?" I nod my head and grabbed 10 potatoes. Everybody in this household can eat. It's crazy and our food goes nowhere. Except our feet.

Cutting up the potatoes into big chucks, I grab a pot and filled up halfway with water and sat it on the stove. Grabbing the asparagus, I washed them off and started cutting the bottoms off.

"Oven or marinate?" I ask my mom who was currently hitting the bottom of the parsley seasoning bottle, moving her hips and singing Drake's new song. Hotline Bling. My eyes rolled to the back of my head as she started dancing more. "Ma!"

"Oven mi hija!" Seasoning the long green vegetables, I turned on the oven and shoved the pan of asparagus in.

Sunday is always a crazy day for my mom and I. Let's just say we only cook on Sunday and the guys cook the rest of the week. And the only guy that can cook is Charlie!

The table was silent as everyone picked at the frog legs. I wanted to burst out laughing but couldn't because every time I chuckled; my mother gave me the scary death. And the scary death glare is the scariest thing alive. My dad cleared his throat as he looked between his wife and I.

"So uh what exactly is this?" He poked at the frog leg.

"Try honey! It's something new," my mom stated taking a bite of her frog leg. My dad followed behind her and so did my brothers. I was the last one to try and surprisingly it was very good!

"Wow mom! This frog leg is actually really good!" I said watching my dads smile turn into a hard cold frown.

"Are you serious! You wanted to cook this because I wouldn't try any last night!" My dad yells and my mother just laughs, taking a bit of the mash potatoes I made.

"You did good mom," Charlie says, eating more of his frog leg. Carson and I roll our eyes. Stuck up.

"Well thanks mama for cooking frog legs for my home coming." Cam jokes taking a swig of grape juice. My mom nods smiling as she looks at me.

"Charlotte has something to tell you, Darren." My mom tells my dad and I think that something is Barbados.

Oh. I thought it was a surprise... oh well. "For your birthday we are going to Barbados with Lola's family." I took a bite of my asparagus as my dad looks at me with a huge grin on his face.

"Really?! Oh how did you know I wanted to go there?!" My dad gushed out like a little girl.

I explained the whole trip to my family and they could not contain their excitement.

The rest of the dinner was just side talk and Cam told my parents about Declan. Every now and then when they talked about him it got silent and it looked like they were having an internal conversation like aliens.

Declan... I wonder when I'm going to see him again. Hopefully soon... very soon. I miss those deep blue eyes. Those kissable lips. Oh my god! Why am I thinking of him in that way?! I just met him yesterday and I thought he was a crazy stalker person before!

"I haven't seen his parents in a while, tell him they need to come over or we can go out. Have a few drinks." My mom snapped me out of my thoughts. "Maybe you kids can hang out again."

Once she said that, my stomach exploded with a million butterflies.
