'Something beautiful even if it started like this' those words played back in Lily's mind while walking back to her bedroom. She had arrived quickly and made her way to her bed. The thought of going to sleep was more than perfect. Although, before she could crawl under the covers, Lily suddenly heard Lexi's soft voice.

'Lily' she whispered, 'I just wanted to say I'm sorry'

'That was so embarrassing' Lily whispered back to her from her side of the room, 'I just want to be left alone'

'I know what I did wasn't right' Lexi began, 'But it was just my way of talking about what was going on in our lives. Hence, the title..'

Lily rolled her eyes slightly and said, 'I know you like writing and using your imagination, but sometimes it's not always helpful'

Lily was simply trying to pick her words carefully as she knew Lexi did take a lot of things to heart.

'Well Nate confessed his feelings' Lexi said simply, 'Isn't that helpful?'

'I don't know' Lily said while laying back down, 'It's a lot to take in'

'No shit' Cassie added as both girls jumped slightly, 'What?'

'You scared me' Lexi cried

Both Lily and Lexi could see Cassie shrugging her shoulders, even though their shared room was only getting light from the bright full moon, which shined brightly through their window.

'Sorry' Cassie said, 'But I kind of agree with Lexi. It's a good thing with Nate and it's kind of romantic'

Making a bet with Mckay was suddenly romantic?

'I don't know about that' Lily said simply

'Will you ever forgive him?' Cassie asked softly, 'And I know I'm not the one to talk about this stuff. I forgive to easily and Lexi never forgives'

'True' Lexi quickly added

'I want to forgive him' Lily admitted, 'But that night in the living room with Rue...it never leaves my mind'

Both of her sisters sat in silence as she continued, 'It's just hard'

'I know' Cassie added, 'But I understand why he wanted to protect his dad, even if it doesn't make sense to us...it's his family'

'Maybe Nate didn't want to hurt you, but it's possible he didn't have a choice but to take Mckay's bet' Lexi added, 'Trust me I'm trying to understand this myself, but it does come back to family at the end of the day'

'I would do anything for you guys' Cassie said with a soft tone, 'So I kind of understand him trying to protect his dad, but he just went about it the wrong way'

'Then what do you suggest I do?' Lily asked her sisters

'Give it some time' Lexi said

Cassie nodded in agreement, 'It probably won't be easy to forgive him, but you can always work towards it. Even just being friends'

Even Lily knew that wasn't possible. There was no way in hell she was just going to be 'friends' with Nate. It was like asking her to place her hand on a hot frying pan or jump off a cliff, except that would be less painful.

'We all know that won't happen' Lexi simply stated, 'I don't think either of them could be just friends with each other'

'I'm just trying to make suggestions' Cassie said

Before Lily could answer either of her sisters, Nate had sent her a message. She looked quickly without opening it.

Nate- Hey it was good seeing you tonight. I understand if you don't want to ever talk to me again, but I just wanted to say I meant everything I said. I wish you well Lily I truly do.

'What?' Lexi asked as Lily's face was lit up by her phone screen, 'Why do you look like you're about to vomit?'

'Nate sent me a message' Lily said as she read out loud what he wrote.

'Damn' Cassie whispered, 'That's just sad'

'It's not that sad' Lily lied as she could feel the sadness creeping up on her

'It's fucking sad' Lexi added, 'Depressing if you will'

'Just hearing that makes me sad' Cassie said, 'Imagine writing that...like you know you really messed up'

'Come on' Lily replied, 'It's fine'

'It's clearly not' Lexi pointed out, 'I can hear it in your voice'

'Shut up' Lily said as she turned over in her bed, 'I'm going to sleep'

Cassie shrugged again and said, 'This is just depressing'Β
