Lily walked through the halls with her head down. It was no secret that she had missed a couple of days of school in the past couple of weeks. Although, she was trying to catch up on work by staying back at the library. She reached the school library and made her way to her normal seat. However, before she could sit down, Josh Davis was already making himself comfortable in her spot. She hesitated before walking away from him and finding another seat. But Josh had noticed her before she could do so.

'Hey' Josh said softly, 'Been awhile since I've seen you'

'Yeah' Lily laughed it off

'Did he forget about everything that went on between us?' Lily thought

'It's nice to see you' Josh said with a smile, 'Do you want to sit?'

Lily truly thought about this gesture. Should she sit down with him? Even after everything that happened, but she also thought that it was over between them. It wasn't a big deal.

'Sure' Lily smiled as she next down next to him

'So what brings you here after school?' Josh asked as he shifted in his seat to face her.

'I'm just catching up on some homework' Lily said simply, 'I've just missed a couple of things'

'Right...' Josh trailed on, 'How's Nate? I heard you guys were a thing now'

Lily couldn't tell if Josh was fucking with her or not. Did he know about the thing with Nate? To Lily, it felt like everyone and their dogs knew about Nate's cruel bet with Mckay.

'It's over' Lily said simply trying to hide her nervousness

'Over?' Josh asked

'Yeah me and Nate' Lily responded quickly, 'Over.'

'Rightt..' Josh nodded, 'What did he do?"

Lily just shook her head and said, 'It doesn't matter'

It did matter to her, but Lexi Howard was always right. Lily had to remember that.

'I respect that' Josh laughed it off slightly, 'Still recovering from getting a glass bottle smashed on my face'

'Yeah' Lily said softly, 'I don't really know what to say to that'

'Doesn't matter' Josh smirked at her, 'So I'm guessing you have heard about me and Jess?'

'Over?' Lily laughed slightly

'Yeah we are over' Josh said as he looked over at Lily

Lily watched him looking over like he was studying her, instead of his homework. She sat back and suddenly remembered the same look from Nate. The night at Mckay's house where they stood outside of the bathroom waiting to go inside. She would have never guessed that her and Nate would be in that same bathroom weeks later. A sharp and paralyzing pain began to creep inside of her chest when she thought about it. It was like time was not moving when Nate was inside of her mind.

She needed to forget why she thought about him. She wanted him to leave her alone, even in her dreams.

'Did you want to come to Lexi's play with me?' Lily asked abruptly, 'It's this weekend'

Josh sat back with a surprised, but pleased expression, 'Sure I would love to'

'Shit' Lily thought immediately after asking him.

...

All the Howard family had arrived at the school's auditorium and took their assigned seats. The room was already full with students and their parents. Lily immediately felt a little anxious when she tried to find Nate, but he wasn't in the audience. Although, she did notice Kat and Maddie waving at her with smiles on their faces. She smiled softly and then went back to not looking around the room. She didn't want to accidentally make eye contact with anyone.

Cassie was sitting between Lily and Suze with a smile on her face, 'I'm excited for this'

'That's great' Suze said, 'Your sister worked hard on this and I'm glad she finally gets to show the world how talented she is'

Both of the girls simply nodded and went back to looking at the stage. However, Cassie had softly nudged Lily.

'What?' Lily asked

'Don't freak out' Cassie said with her eyes quickly looking over Lily's head, 'Nate's here'

Of course he was there. Lexi said it was an open invitation, but it doesn't mean he had to take it.

'Josh is here too' Cassie said as she watched him approach the two sisters

'I know' Lily said quickly as she turned around to greet Josh

He smiled and sat down in his seat next to Lily. Cassie sat back in shock and quickly nudged Suze.

'What Cas?' Suze asked, but she quickly recognized Josh, 'Hi Josh'

'Hi Mrs Howard' Josh said with a smile, 'You should be really proud of Lexi for this'

Suze was trying not to rip off his head and said instead, 'I am. Very proud mama'

Suze quickly narrowed her eyes towards Cassie. It was all they both needed to say about it. It was a simple act of revenge on Nate. Suze was a little proud of Lily and didn't think she had it in her. On the other hand, Cassie was simply confused and shocked. But it didn't matter.

The revenge plot that Lily came up with at the last minute, it was working. Nate was now staring them both down from his seat. He immediately felt a sharp pain in his chest and the thought of smashing another glass bottle was ideal. Josh Davis was now sitting next to his girl... well she was. He felt like his face and ears were on fire and if someone could see his emotions, there would be burning red fire coming out of his ears.

This burning red feeling was felt by everyone in the room that knew about them. Cassie was scared to look over at Nate as she could feel his eyes burning the back of Lily's head. Maddie and Kat were looking between them with uncontrollable laughter.

'Nate's fucking pissed' Kat giggled as she nudged Maddie to stop staring

Now, Lily was dying instead and she wanted nothing more than to sit next to Nate. She never imagined that she would try her best to avoid him and choose Josh Davis over him. It felt wrong, but she knew that it would look bad if she told Josh to leave. Lily suddenly felt like sinking into her seat and wished a giant black hole would just take her away. Even though the room was crowded and extremely loud, she could hear the silence between Nate and her. It was louder than anything or anyone in this concert hall.

Cassie turned slightly to speak to her sister, but Lexi's play had begun.
