The night was getting colder and it started to rain heavily. Lily was now sitting in the passenger seat of Nate Jacobs car. She thought of many imaginary situations about how her night may end, but none of them involved Nate. But here she was. Lily looked out the window of his car to watch the rain begin to fall faster and more aggressively.

'It's really raining outside' Lily commented the obvious

Nate nodded and chuckled, 'Yeah it's pretty bad'

Lily immediately knew that Nate was laughing at her comment. She tended to do this when she didn't know what to say.

'Do you want some music on?' He asked her as he took another sip of his beer

'I don't mind' Lily said simply, 'Should you be drinking while driving?'

Nate looked over to her and chuckled, 'I do it all the time. Who's going to arrest me?'

'A lot of people' Lily added but she decided to drop the topic

Nate leaned over towards her. His movements of his hands looked like he was going to place his hand on Lily's thigh, but he quickly pulled back and turned on his radio. Dead of Night by Orville Peck began to play softly. Lily looked down at her phone and noticed that Tyler hadn't responded for a while. She felt like maybe he didn't want to speak to her anymore or he wasn't interested.

For the past day, Tyler had been speaking to her every second and asking her every question under the sun. She knew that this may not work out as she doesn't even know his real name, but there was something about someone (especially a boy) asking her about her life and interests. It was just something she didn't get often. Male attention was something she didn't get often.

She sighed as she watched Nate make his way to her house. He noticed her loud sigh and asked if something was wrong. Lily shook her head and said, 'I'm just tired'.

Nate decided to drive up her driveway but Lily swiftly grabbed his arm.

'Don't do that' she said simply, 'I don't want my mum to see'

Nate laughed this off, 'Why?'

'I just don't want her or my sisters asking questions' Lily responded as she saw that the kitchen light was still on.

'You don't want your family knowing I dropped you off?' he asked with a subtle tone of defensiveness, but Lily noticed.

'It's not that I don't want them to know' she lied, 'Like I said, I don't want people asking questions'

'Right...' Nate trailed off

'Thank you for the drive home' Lily said, 'I do appreciate it'

'No worries' Nate said as he firmly put his car in drive

Lily took this action as a goodbye. She got out of his car and made her way towards her house. She cuddled her cardigan towards her chest when she decided to turn around and see if Nate was gone. He wasn't. She didn't want to make this extremely awkward and stand there like a creep. She turned around quickly and made her way inside. However, she stood in the doorway out of his view before he drove off down the street. She breathed in heavily as she closed her front door.

'Hi stranger' Suze Howard teased

Lily looked over to her mum and put her hand immediately to her chest. She was scared fucking shitness by her mother's introduction.

'You scared me' Lily said as she stood in the doorway awkwardly

'Who was that?' Suze asked going straight to the point

'It was Kat' Lily lied quickly

Lily never really lied to her mum or sisters. She was quite honest with everything in her personal life, but there was something about Nate Jacobs that she didn't want to share.

'Kat is upstairs with your sisters and Maddy' Suze chuckled and then turned with a serious tone, 'Don't lie to me Lily'

She felt her skin turn hot and she knew her cheeks were completely red. She really fucked up.

'It was just a friend' she partly lied again, 'I lost the girls at the party and had no way home'

'Who's the friend?' Suze asked with her arms crossed over her chest

The arms crossed was a statement and Lily knew she couldn't keep lying.

'Nate Jacobs' she said softly

Suze immediately began to laugh so loudly and hilariously that she had to put down her wine.

'Are you fucking serious?' she laughed harder, 'Lily what the fuck?'

'I don't know if you're angry at me right now' Lily said

Suze tried to calm herself down before she responded. She finally stopped laughing and said, 'I'm sorry I just didn't think you would even give him the time of the day'

'I'm not' Lily responded quickly, 'I just needed a ride'

'Okay' Suze said with an unconvinced expression

Lily huffed. She didn't need to have this conversation with her mother right now. She made her way up to her bedroom and could already hear Maddy speaking. Lily's mum was one thing, but trying to explain it to her sisters and friends was a whole other kettle of fish.

She opened the door to only be hit with a mixture of weed and 'Tease' by Victoria's Secret. Cassie was the first to smile at her and then followed Maddy. However, Maddy was looking at Lily in a way that she knew the interrogation was about to begin.

'How did you get home?' Maddy asked

Lily didn't want to answer just yet but she did say, 'Where did you guys go? I didn't see any of you tonight'

'I was with Mckay' Cassie responded first

'I was with Jules' Lexi added, 'And Rue. She ended up coming around'

Lily nodded, 'What about you?'

Maddy was looking at her now with a confused expression and glanced over at Kat.

'You didn't tell her?' Maddy asked towards Kat, 'We went and meet up with Cole and his friends'

'Who's Cole?' Lily asked

'The guy from online' Kat said, 'He's really hot and his friends are even hotter'

'Hey watch it' Maddy joked and then directed her attention towards Lily.

'So how did you get home?' Maddy pointed her index finger towards her, 'It's your turn in the hot seat'

Before Lily spoke, she felt like Maddy was already reading her mind. Maddy had this effect on people. You rather deal with it and tell the truth. Or you lie and possibly get your ass beat if you cross her. Did Nate Jacobs driving her home fit into either of those categories?

'Well...' Lexi trailed off, 'Who dropped you home?'

They were all looking at her now and honestly she felt like the girls were staring into her soul. She couldn't lie.

'Nate dropped me home' Lily said simply

All the girls had different reactions. Cassie didn't seem to mind and shrugged her shoulders. Kat's eyes immediately narrowed towards Maddy. Lexi watched her twin sister in a way that she was a ghost walking. And Maddy had a massive smirk across her face.

'Nate Jacobs?' Maddy responded, 'Are you serious?'

'He offered and I didn't know where you guys were' Lily trailed on, 'It wasn't a big deal'

'I don't see how it is' Cassie added, 'He was just being nice'

Maddy laughed loudly and added, 'I just wouldn't see you giving him the time of day'

Does she have supernatural senses and heard the conversation with her mum?

'Me too' Lexi said, 'He doesn't seem like the type of guy you would go for'

'Guys' Lily huffed, 'It's not like I am interested in him! It was just a drive home'

'Okay' Maddy commented while putting her hands up defensively, 'I think maybe he's into you'

'He's not into me' Lily responded with a awkward laugh

She could feel her cheeks turn red again and she somewhat could feel her body begin to sweat.

'I was only joking' Maddy laughed, 'But you never know Lily! Maybe he does..'
