Levi's P.O.V.

I could see my warm breath in the air, the wind whistling through my fur as my legs pounded against the grassy floor of the woods. The ground shook beneath our paws with every step we took.

We were getting closer to her, I could feel it. Hope began rising in my chest and I prayed for her to be okay.

Nothing compared to the pain of our separation, not the anger my father directed towards me when he was alive, not the fear I saw in some of the pack members whenever they looked at me because I was always going to be the man who killed his own flesh and blood.

They never saw past my blood-stained hands long enough to see that I was only a scared boy who grew up too fast under the watchful eye of my father's abusive words and hate-filled fists. They saw the scar on my face and trembled in fear at the thought of what other terrible things I was capable of if I was able to take the life of my own father.

They all seemed to forget what a cruel Alpha he was the moment he died by my hands. Their image of him was replaced by me, yet another monster.

It took years to get the trust and respect I have now from some of the pack members.

But not Rain.

She was terrified of me when she first saw me and I remember the way she trembled because she thought I would hurt her. But she slowly began to open up to me and even when her nightmares would wake her up and her fear of men would haunt her, she always found her way back to me.

She pulled me closer instead of pushing me away even after finding out how I got my scar. She kissed away my worries and opened her arms with a smile on her face, no hint of hesitation or condemnation to be found.

All I could see was her love for me and now there is nowhere that I could go without wanting Rain by my side.

We were nearing the borders of the Prometheus Pack and I let out a piercing howl, the rest of the warriors joining in.

Mate or not, Rain was mine and there was nothing I wouldn't do to get to her back.

Rain's P.O.V.

I blinked away the fire in my veins and the sleep clouding my eyes. My heart began to pound as I took in my hazy surroundings.

An unfamiliar heartbeat echoed in my ears and my body jostled within the embrace of unfamiliar arms. I struggled to make sense of what happened and I tried to piece together the events that led up to this.

The last thing I remembered was being drugged once again by my father and his crazed eyes as he whispered assurances of how everything would be okay and how he was taking me far away from the pack where no one would be able to harm us.

My skin itched where he was holding onto me and I pushed down the urge to shudder, not wanting to alert him of my consciousness. Through my squinted eyes I could see that we were no longer back at my old pack. The greens and browns of the woods were all that surrounded us. The leaves crunched under the heavy footfalls of the man carrying me.

The stench of blood filled my senses and it didn't take long to figure out whose arms I was in. My father had shed so much hatred and abuse that it became a part of him. The warmth he once held when my mother was alive was now drowned in the darkness staining his soul. He was too far gone to atone for his sins and I knew if I didn't use this chance to get away, I might never be able to escape.

I had no idea where he could be taking me since he never mentioned anything in the past few days he was holding me captive.

There was nothing holding me back from escaping. No chains. No silver. Only my fear of what he would do if he was able to catch me and the faint presence of the drug still in my system.

I counted down the seconds, willing my heart rate to slow down so he wouldn't be able to hear it. My breathing evened as I waited for an opening to make my getaway.

A sudden howl broke through the silence and my father stumbled, clearly surprised. I sucked in a harsh breath before roughly pushing him away and leaping out of his arms.

He yelped, startled by my actions and I could hear him chasing after me, the twigs and branches snapping under his feet.

"Sweetheart, come back," he cooed, his voice sickeningly sweet. "Why are you running from me? I have to get you someplace safe. It's dangerous out here."

The days I spent running and training under Alexander's guidance made me grateful because without my endurance and the adrenaline pumping through my veins, I surely would've been caught the moment I tried to run.

My shaky legs trembled as I fought against the urge to collapse from exhaustion and I hurried towards the direction of the howling. I would recognize his voice anywhere. It was Levi and the rest of the pack had come with him.

"Levi!" I screamed, my throat burned from its lack of use. "Levi! Where are you?"

"Honey!" my father chastised, his fury making itself known. He was clearly angry at my disobedience and I could hear the disbelief creeping into his tone. "What do you think you're doing?"

"Levi, please say something," I yelled, my desperation was increasing as my speed began slowly down. "Levi, I'm here!"

"Get back here," the monster roared. I could feel his presence right behind me and I felt tears of frustration prickle my eyes.

I had no idea whether or not anyone heard my screams but the hope that someone did was what kept me fighting to stay awake as my father lunged for me. His large hands wrapped around my throat in a choking embrace, my back pressed against the rough trunk of one of the trees.

I clawed against his hands and kicked at his chest, struggling to get free. His irises were shadowed by obsidian and I saw a brief look of confusion flicker in his eyes. His lips parted, "Rain?"
