The youngest two were were in shock as all eyes were on them.
They froze.
The awkward situation made them both uncomfortable.
Taehyung would have wanted to speak but he was taught otherwise, so he just pressed his lips together, waiting for the other to answer.

"What! No! I was just lost in thought! I would never marry such a weak looking alpha!" Jungkook frantically answered his father, disgust visible on his face, feeling rather frustrated at their sudden assumption.
The members at the table just laughed. Jungkook instantly began sipping at his drink to shift everyone's eyes away from them. He watched the ripples of the deep red as he thought,

How could they think that! This third son, the alpha, he must be playing some sort of tricks on me. Well he should know what won't ever happen.
But, he looks so soft, so innocent.
My words were too harsh. I shouldn't have said that.
The young alpha huffed as he listened to the elders.

"So my dear son Namjoon, do you agree with the date set," the Jeon Alpha spoke. Everyone faced him and with a calm smile on his face he stated his answer.
"Of course."

A gentle warmth of happiness spread over Seokjin's face, one that was foreign to Taehyung. It was genuine and from his heart, not a fake smile he would always give to his parents or his brother Jisung. It made the omega feel content for his brother.

Seokjin Hyung, this is the first time I've seen him so happy. I know there's deep love between the two, they're so lost in each other's eyes. Taehyung admired.

"We are more than satisfied with your choice of date. We hope to bring our kingdoms together further and for our people to have freedom within. To you, our dear son to be, we hope you will take good care of our son Kim Seokjin. I can assure you we have done all we have in our power to raise him well and worthy of you." The Kim Alpha said with a slight warmth to his voice. Hyerin smiled delightfully and so did the heads of the Jeon family.

They began bringing their conversations to an end due to the time.

It all had happened so swiftly that the younger members at the table were left clueless as to what had been discussed.

"So, Jungkook you know soon it'll be our turn," Jisung smirked.

Jungkook grit his teeth in frustration but sweetly stated, "It will never be you and me."

"But you just clearly rejected that other piece of shit, after all you could only choose between me and Taehyung!"

"I never meant for it to come across that way, but I'll certainly go for Taehyung. Don't worry I'll be sure to invite you to stand right next to us at the alter."

Jisung clenched his fists at the table in anger whilst smiling brightly to the others. Jungkook found his actions rather amusing.

He pat his hand on Namjoon's back as a small congratulations making the other blush and beam with delight.

Jungkook looked up at Taehyung to see the pained expression hidden behind the small smile.
He knew he had hurt the blonde deeply, and he definitely never meant for his words to come out that way.

Taehyung had tried his best to remain composed. He had tried to not cling on to any hope that Jungkook might be want to marry him, that he might be saved from the curse of a life he was living in.
He knew it was all in his dreams, he knew he would never be worth anyone's partner yet still, still he had found himself desperate.

Jungkook's opinion pf him made Taehyung's heart sink.
He knew he wasn't an alpha, but if Jungkook really thought of him as weak there was no way he could hope for much any longer. No body would want him. With Jungkook flat out rejecting him like that, he had no chance at all.
Disregarding all his emotions he got up and bowed to all the Jeon family as they took to leave rather content with the outcomes of the night.

As Taehyung put his head up his eyes got caught with Jungkook's again; the same tugging feeling growing, but he was quick to cut it all off and smile.

Jungkook had felt the same sensation, and was rather surprised at how suddenly the blonde turned away, but he smiled back lightly anyway, before turning around to leave.

To say he felt guilty would be an understatement. He realised he was assuming too much, perhaps Taehyung wasn't like his older brothers. He certainly didn't act like them, he seemed rather reserved. Then he turned around to glance back at Taehyung discretely, only to see the other in the distance with a glinting stream down his cheek, a tear.

***

There was a soft breeze blowing during the early hours of the morning. Jungkook stood out on the balcony of his room, lost in thought as he gazed upon the cream wispy clouds. The sun was not out yet, the sky was still tinted faintly with the darkness of the night.
The alpha felt as though he could stare into the blue of the sky and explore oceans and galaxies, get lost into an endless stream of serenity.
But the pained expression of Taehyung kept haunting him, and it wouldn't let him sleep.

Im so stupid how could I have just said that. No alpha would want to hear a comment like that. Ugh what should I do. I should just apologise next time I see him...

Knock. Knock.

Jungkook sighed as his trail of thought was lost at the sound. He dragged his feet to the door to see his brother beaming at him.
"Come on Jungkook-ah, don't give me that face. I have a lot to share with you. But more importantly there's a lot I think you would want to hear from me." Namjoon smirked at the younger.

"Do you want to talk in the balcony, I get us chairs..."

"No it's fine we don't need chairs, what are legs for?"

"Ah Hyung I was just trying to be kind"

"The kind gesture was noted"

They burst out in a quiet laughter at the awkwardness as they walked over to the balcony.

"So tell me."

"Tell you what" Nakhon mischievously challenged.

" Ah come on tell me what you said you would tell me"

"Is there something you want to hear?"

Jungkook pouted. It was too early for his brother to play with his mind. Namjoon chuckled and began,

"I'm just kidding. Well, there's so much to say I don't know where to begin."

"How about WHAT YOUVE BEEN HIDING FROM ME! I saw you lovebirds staring at each other like that. How long have you been seeing each other?"

"Woah Jungkook we don't want to wake the entire kingdom. Me and Seokjin have been together since perhaps just over six months-"

"SIX MONTHS!" Jungkook couldn't keep his mouth shut from the shock. "Sorry, ahem, carry on." He smiled sweetly.

His Hyung rather disturbed at the sudden outburst furrowed his eyebrows slightly and laughed.
"Yes I'm sure it's quite shocking but you don't know the full story. Our parents have already decided on our partners based on our DNA. You know since we're all alphas it's very difficult for us to become mates. The Kim family has no beta son so according to our traits we have been matched."

"Wait does that mean that, I've, been, matched too?" There was slight anger in his tone of voice. He hated it. He hated how his parents would control everything in his life, and if they went as far as selecting his mate for him, he definitely wasn't having any of it.

"Yah why are you getting so worked up about it... but you're right. I'm sure you can guess who your partner is but remember this Jungkook. I don't know what is up with the Kim family but the conditions they set after the war of the kingdoms was ceased included these marriages. I know for a fact that mother and father would never set this fate upon us if they had a choice, but for the good of their people they're going along with it.
The Kim Alpha is a very dangerous man. The entirety of his bloodline have been viscous alphas that are cold and unforgiving. If we make a single wrong there's no guarantee we'll be able to save our kingdom from their ruling."

He sighed deeply, "Jungkook I'm trying really hard to respect the decisions made and you should too. I would certainly say I'm very lucky to have been matched with Seokjin though. We have a special bond I can't explain. It's like he gets me and I get him. What more could we need." Namjoon smiled to himself at the though of Jin.

Jungkook, who had been listening attentively to every word, thought of his fate. If his brother was matched with Jin, then he would be with!.. no way,

"Hyung wait does that mean my partner is that bastard J-Ji-Jisung!"

"Mother and father have never mentioned it to me before. But you know their third son, was is Tae..."

"Taehyung."

"Yes, Kim Taehyung, it could be him. Come to think of it you guys looked like lovebirds yourselves, even our parents noticed haha."

"Ah Hyung I'm not sure what happened. It was like I just looked at him and I couldn't bring myself to look away. At first I thought he was using some sort of trick to make me notice him, but, he seemed too innocent for that. His soft blonde hair was unlike anything I'd ever seen for an alpha, his eyes too they were a deep brown but I could swear at times I saw shades of blue. Ugh I think I'm just a bit tipsy for the morning."

"What?!" Namjoon was speechless.

Jungkook's confusion made its way on to his face.
"Hyung"

No response.

"Namjoon Hyung."

"..."

"HYUUUNG!!!"

"Wha- yah Jungkook my ears! Sorry I just, never mind you should get a few hours of sleep before breakfast. We have training to do and I can tell you're going to get exhausted." Namjoon smiled but as soon as he turned away the shock returned to his face.

No way, Taehyung and Jungkook, they can't be...
