My baby Trinity in mm.

Korie

I sat there watching Mo on the other end of the couch studyin' her body language. I could tell she was tense and had a lot on her mind, so I wanted to get what was on her mind, off.

"Mo."

"Don't," she held her hand up, "do not fuckin' talk to me. Don't look at me, don't talk to me, I don't even want you to breathe too hard, or else I'll slap the shit out of you."

With me being me, I scooted closer to her, I want her to get it all out.

"Move! Don't come any closer, I have mace." She dug in her purse.

"You mad at me?"

She abruptly stopped her search. "Am I mad?! I hate you! You said some disrespectful shit that I would never even think of saying! I hate you! I hate you!"

"What else?" I moved closer to her putting my arm around her shoulders.

"Korie! I'm not playin'!" She pulled her mace out and aimed it at my eyes. "You so stupid!"

"I am, I'm stupid as hell. What else Mo?"

"You're an idiot, you dumb, and I hate you." She dropped the mace and put her head in her hands and cried.

"I know, I'm all of those things. And I don't blame you one bit for hatin' me. I hate me too for even lettin' that not only come out of my mouth, but cross my mind. I didn't mean it at all, I was upset and in the heat of the moment. And that still ain't an excuse, I'm wrong as hell, one hundred percent." I pulled her hands away from her face and looked in her eyes.

"Do you know how many nights I've cried over loosing my baby? Do you know how close I've came to ending my life, on multiple occasions? I wake up every morning with my baby on my mind, I go to sleep every night with my baby on my mind. Loosing him or her was the darkest time of my life, not the rape, not the beatings, not my mama disowning me, not being sold for money! But loosing my baby!" She cried harder staring in my eyes.

Hearin' all of that just made me feel ten times worse, I never would've thought a happy spirit like Mo's would have suicide on their mind. That just goes to show, you never judge a book by its cover. Even though Mo had been through shit that some people couldn't even fathom goin' through, she wore her heart on her sleeve, and she always wore a smile and brought everyone around her spirits up as well. That's just something I've learned about her in the short time that I've known her.

"I'm so sorry, what can I do to show you how sorry I am? I'll do anything, please."

"I need space, I need time, I need a break from you." She wiped her eyes.

"Okay, I don't want to, but I can do that."

"Yeah, you really didn't have a choice." She got up and headed for the door. "Tell Khadijah I'm stayin' with Trinity, and I'll see her tomorrow." And with that she walked out of the door.

I sat on the couch thinking about the words that she'd said. She's been through so much, and I put her through some more shit. I wouldn't even blame her if she decided to not give me another chance, because I don't deserve it. But that don't mean I ain't gone try.

Monique

"Girl yes," I sighed while brushing my hair, "I told him that I need space away from him. What he said really hurt me and even though he said he didn't mean it, that doesn't take away the fact that he said it." I explained to Trinity.

"You're absolutely right, but to be honest, I really think you and Korie would be a great power couple." She laughed.

"I am gonna miss my baby Lyric though." I pouted.

It's no secret that I love that little girl. She is all that and then some, she's smart, funny, and very pretty might I add. It's something about her that drives me into mommy mode. I'd do anything for that girl, she's got me wrapped around her little finger.

"I'm sure Korie will let you see her."

"Yeah but I don't wanna see him though, that's the thing." I plopped down on her bed.

"You do realized, all of your friends are his friends and vise versa, right?"

"Don't remind me." I said dramatically.

"Okay how do I look?" She spun around.

"You look hawt!" I gawked.

Trinity was about to go out on a date with this guy she'd met at her school that she was attending.

Trinity got out of the fast lane, and slowed down to enjoy her young life. She enrolled in a community college and she's been working at Applebee's as a waitress. To say I was proud of her was an understatement.

"You sure? This isn't too much?"

"Girl no! Y'all goin' to Bavette's Bar and Boeuf." I fanned myself.

"Girl you don't even know what that is." She teased.

"I sure don't but I heard they bomb as fuck and fancy as fuck and expensive as fuck, he payin' right?" I raised an eyebrow.

"He betta' be, or I'll be headin' to the bathroom when the check comes." We laughed as she put everything she needed in her clutch.

Trinity had become like a little sister to me, I held her best interest at heart. I never wanted her to be in a situation like she was in before, again. There are nights when I stay up late helping her with papers or homework just so she doesn't feel like she's doing this alone with no help.

As of lately, Antoine has been hanging out with 'Korie and the crew', so he doesn't really spend much time with Trinity. She says it doesn't bother her, but I can tell it gets to her. Sometimes she calls him just to hear his voice, but he ends up saying he'll call her back because he's with the guys.

She's been trying to tell him about her little guy friend that she's been talking to, but she never gets the chance.

"Okay, I hope this goes well. Anyway I'll most likely be out late so don't wait up." She threw up the peace sign before heading out the room, and out the door.

I slid out of her bed and went into the bathroom across the hall. Looking in the mirror, I noticed the dark bags under my eyes, and dark circles.

"I need some rest, but first I need a shower."

I walked out the bathroom and into my temporary room. Trinity had given me some night clothes and hygiene products to use until I go shopping, which will most likely be tomorrow.

After grabbing the clothes and hygiene products, I went to the bathroom inside of my room and turned the shower on. I stripped out of my clothes, letting the water get hot, once inside I let the water fall down my skin and just relaxed. It felt so good to be in this shower, I felt a wave of calmness and peace for once. After just standing there for a while, I began to lather my body with the Warm Vanilla scented body wash. After about 30 minutes, I hopped out and dried off, putting on my lotion and clothes.

I went downstairs and checked all of the locks before heading back up to my room, and cutting the lights out. I slid into my bed letting the covers engulf me, and soon I had drifted off to sleep.

Trinity

I pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant and parked my car. Sean and I had decided to just meet each other here instead of him picking me up, because quite frankly I didn't trust him enough for him to know where I lived.

I pulled my visor down and looked in the mirror, I applied more lip gloss, and fluffed my hair before stepping out of the car.

The plan was to meet here at 8:30 and here it was 8:45, of course I had to be a little late.

Walking into the restaurant, I spotted Sean at a table in the back.

"Hello beautiful." He stood up to hug me and pulled my seat out.

"Hey Sean," I spoke shyly, "you smell nice."

"Damn, I don't look nice?" He laughed, flashing his million dollar dimple.

"No I didn't mean you don't look nice, it's just the cologne you have on smells really good."

"I know ma, I'm just messin' witchu." He chuckled. "The waitress came by to take our drink order, I ordered you some water with lemons because I didn't know what you wanted, feel free to change it."

"Oh no that's fine, I'll just stick with that."

"Ok cool, so have you talked to your brother today?"

I always vent to him about my brother, I tell him my brother is my number one man, not in a incest kind of way, but more so like my number one priority when it comes to a male.

My brother has always taken care of me and made sure I was straight, so he's got the biggest spot in my heart.

Lately he hasn't been paying me any attention, and just like any little sister who loves their big brother, I felt some type of way.

"Nah, I went by his house earlier, but he wasn't there. Then I called him and it went to voicemail after a few rings. Halfway back home he texted me and said he was out with some chick and he'd holla at me later." I said putting air quotes around holla.

Sean nodded his head understandingly and looked around the dim restaurant.

"What's on your mind?" I rested my chin in the palm of my hand.

"Nothin', I just hear you talk about your brother all the time and it makes me think about my big brother." He played with the napkin on the table.

"What happened to him? If you don't mind me askin'."

"I honestly don't know," tears formed in his eyes, "one day he just stopped answerin' the phone and I hadn't heard from him since, and that ain't like him. But he was in the streets heavy, he would eat, sleep, and breathe the streets, so I'm pretty sure somethin' caught up with him." He looked to the ceiling.

"I'm sorry to hear that, were y'all close?"

"It was a long distance type of thing, because we have different mamas, so he always lived out here in Chicago, while I on the other hand just moved here from Cali." He explained.

The waitress approached the table with our drinks and was ready to take our order.

"I'll have the eight ounce steak and mashed potatoes with asparagus on the side." I ordered

"And for you sir?" She looked at Sean with a flare in her eyes, something like a desire.

"I'll have the shrimp fettuccine with garlic bread, and can I get a refill on my drink." He held his cup up.

"Sure no problem, I'll be right back mister..."

"Sean."

"Sean, okay I'll be right back with your order." She walked away, bound to break her hips if she switched any harder.

"Wow," I took a sip of my water.

"You hear that?" Sean cupped his hand behind his ear.

"What?" I got quiet and looked around.

"It sounds like," he leaned in closer with his hand still behind his ear, "sounds like someone's jealous." He smirked.

"That was so childish!" I laughed. "And no, it wasn't jealousy, it was shock, because I can't believe some females would do all that when a man is with another woman. It's flat out unbelievable."

"Maybe she think you my sister." He shrugged.

"Yeah, you right, brother." I decided I would play his game better than him.

We engaged in a little more small talk before the waitress brought our food to us.

"Thank you." Sean said to her.

"Oh it's no problem, let me know if you need anything else."

"My brother said you're really pretty, you guys should exchange numbers." I interrupted.

She blushed and looked at Sean, tucking some of her stiff weave behind her ear.

Taking out her pen and notepad, she wrote something down and ripped the paper off handing it to him.

"Call me sometime," she licked her lips, "next time don't make your sister do the dirty work." She winked at me and smiled before walking off.

Sean stared blankly at me and I couldn't help but laugh.

"What?" I dug into my food

"Why you playin' wimme?" He tilted his head.

"Because I like playin' witchu, and I know you ain't gone do nothin'." I winked.

"Oh for real?" He smirked.

"For real."

For the rest of our time we ate, laughed, and enjoyed each other's presence.

"You ready ma?"

"Yes I am, I'm stuffed."

"I know, you ate your food and mine." He laughed standing up from his chair.

"Don't do me like that." I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Here's your change, I hope you enjoyed your food." She handed him the money and the receipt. "Don't forget to call me."

"You can keep this," he handed her back the change, "and this." He handed her the paper with her number on it.

She looked at him with a confused look on her face and I couldn't help the laugh that escaped my mouth.

She looked at me and rolled her eyes.

I wasn't gone say anything but I wasn't one to put up with some random bitch's attitude.

"Me and my man, will be leaving, so take your tip and that number and mosey on to another table before I have to take these heels off and you can meet me out back."

"Have a good night." She walked away.

"Oh, yo man? I like the sound of that miss feisty." He put his hand on the small of my back as we walked out.

"I had a really good time tonight Sean."

"I'm glad you had a good time, that was the plan." He laughed. "I enjoyed myself a whole lot too."

He pulled me into a gentle hug, and pecked my cheek before helping me in the car. Once I was safely inside, he walked to his car and hopped in blowing his horn and waving, telling me to pull off. I pulled off, and he did right behind me, but once we got to the main road, he went to the opposite direction.

Sean
I'm at the crib, text me when you make it home. -11:49 p.m.

Me
Pulling up now, about to hit the hay. -11:57 p.m

Sean
You so corny dude. Text me in the morning, get all yo beauty sleep, even though you don't need no moreπŸ˜‰ -11:58 p.m.

Me
But I'm corny?! Thanks tho ❀️ and I will. -12:01 a.m.

Once I got in the house, I pulled off the heels that were killing my feet and threw them down by the door. I walked up the steps to my room and stripped out of my clothes. After taking a quick shower I laid down and said a quick prayer before texting my brother 'goodnight'.

I found myself not being able to fall asleep, so I picked up my phone and dialed Sean.

"Hello?"

"Hey, were you sleep?"

"Almost, wassup?"

"Nothin' I couldn't sleep, I got a lot on my mind." I admitted.

"Well I'm all ears baby, tell me what you got on that pretty mind of yours."

I talked and talked until 3 in the morning, when I finally grew sleepy. Sean told me he would stay on the phone with me until I fell asleep because I honestly didn't want to hang up. I felt so comfortable and safe knowing he was listening to me, I felt at ease.

I may have found someone else to fill the spot my brother held. I may have finally found a keeper.
