Chapter 30

I watched as Rain jogged over to the keyboard the organist was stuck in traffic and would be running a few minutes late. I watched as she took off her black suit jacket and laid it down on the chair next to her. I had got to pick out her clothes this morning and braided her hair. I dressed her in a black suit and shirt, burnt orange bow tie and black suspenders. She looked so damn sexy.

"Can she play?" I asked Laura.

"Beautifully. She use to play a lot but after her pops she stopped. Now she just play incase of emergencies. I never told her but I use to love watching her play," Laura said

I watched as she turned the keyboard on and she started to smoothly play some gospel song. She looked over at me and rolled her eyes. I laughed lowly and made my way back into the office. She does play nicely.

"Laura?"

"Yeah?"

"Did she really roll the casket out of the funeral home?" I asked her as I walked back in the office and sat down in the chair Rainie got my panties wet in.

"Girl did she roll it?" She said and stood up.

She rolled the chair she was sitting on into the middle of the office.

"So Rain was already in a bad mood because one of her exes Heather I think busted her windows out her car," she said and looked at me.

"Close your mouth girl,"'she said and laughed.

"Anyway, the family was coming in acting an ass. Rainie was coo' at first but then she started to turn red. She looked at them and said. 'You can take yo money back and I will give you this fucking casket and y'all can have service on the damn sidewalk.' Then she opened up the double doors," she said as she put her foot on the chair and kicked it.

"And she kicked the casket out the funeral home and walked in here slamming doors and cussing," she said and laughed.

"What the family say?" I asked her as I sat there in shocked.

"They apologized. They was scared as fuck," She said as she sat back down in her chair still  in tears.

"Damn," I said and sat back in the chair.

"She strong as hell. That lady was like 450 or something," Laura said as she answered the phone.

I looked over at the monitor they had set up and saw Rain get up as some dude sat down and started playing. She put her jacket back on and pulled her phone off the clip. She answered it and started walking back this way.  She does have a lot to do. Or she takes on a lot.

"Ma'am I understand," she said as she came into the office.

She pulled up a chair and sat down. I watched as she leaned over and placed  her head in her hand. She had been going non stop since we woke up. I could tell she was tired and it wasn't even noon yet. She looked like she was aging. I was becoming worried about her. She could die from this shit and I already know that she isn't big on talking about her feelings.

"Ma'am you can't come in right now to make arrangements we have a service," she sighed in the phone.

"Ma'am you can't bury her Saturday," she said as she stood up and started pacing.

I watched as she dropped her head and sighed. She stood in the middle of the the floor and started to rock from one foot to the other. She looked like she was about to curse this lady out.

"I understand," she said.

I watched as her ears started to turn red.

"I know but.." She started to say and got cut off.

"I know but..."  I watched as her grip tighten on the phone.

She was kind of looking a bit cute getting all piss off.

"Ma'am we have your mother here. We are waiting for the medical examiner to come,"she said.

I watched as her shoulders dropped more as she looked at the monitors. She raised her eyebrow and pointed at the monitor and sighed. She looked over at Laura as she pointed at the screen with her eyebrows furrowed.

"Seriously," she mouthed to Laura.

Laura shrugged her shoulders and went back to doing whatever she was doing.

"Ma'am I really have to go I have a service today," she said and put her hand hand on her waist.

She was looking down at the ground like she was trying to figure out how she got a flat tire or something.

" Look ma'am if you didn't mention yo mom had a doctor and let them take care of it then we could have done a burial. But you didn't and you cursed out the medical examiner. So now you have to wait. In fact if you don't want to wait I can take her back to the medical examiner and leave her there," she said as she ran her hand down her face.

"Well you can call  back at 2," she said.

She pulled her phone from her ear and looked at it. She shook her head and tossed the phone onto the desk.

"Am I red?" She asked

"A little bit," I said and smiled.

She smiled back and shook her head. She looked back at the monitor and groaned. It was more of a irritated one.

"Two crazy ass ladies in one fucking day. Imma smoke hell of weed tonight," she mumbled and walked back out of the office.

I laughed and shook my head.

"Hey Jamila," Laura said.

"Yeah," I said as I looked over at her.

"Rain birthday is coming up next month. Can you check on her. Her pops died on her birthday and she shuts everybody out and gets super reckless. Miguel has to work and Nora is just gonna tell her happy birthday then a week later realize it's the anniversary of her dad's death," Laura said and looked at me with sad eyes.

"Can I show you something?" She asked me.

I nodded my head as she got up and I followed her to the kitchen that was attached to the office.

"What are we doing in here?" I asked her as she walked over to the fridge.

"Well since you are the first girl to come to work with her and the first girl in a long time to hold her interest like you do," she said as she opened the fridge.

I raised my eyebrow there was hella take out in there.

"That is Rainies lunch. She never eats. She is always busy doing something and never takes the time to sit and eat," she said.

"Why don't you make her eat?" I asked her as she closed the door.

She smiled and walked out of the kitchen.

"She doesn't listen to us, but I have a feeling she will listen to you. Look don't tell her I told you," she said.

I looked at her and smiled and nodded my head. Rain was gonna make herself sick. Even though she wasn't mines. I still worried about her like she is.She smiled at me and looked back to the monitor.

"Watch this," Laura said as she walked out the office

I followed her and walked into the chapel behind her. When we got in there Rain was at the podium. I looked at Laura who was leaning against the wall as these two ladies were fighting. Like really fighting pulling hair , heels off everything.

"Good morning friends and family. I'm the owner of Major funeral home. Due to the fact that a fight has broken out I would like to thank all of you for attending the service of Lucy Good," Rain said.

I watched as the fight stopped and everybody started to look around.

"The service hasn't even started," Ms. Green yelled out.

She was out of breath and her blouse was barely hanging on her body.

I watched as Rainie walked over to Mr. Good who was just sitting there in shock. She bent down  and grabbed his hand and said something to him. He smiled at her as she gave him a warm smile.

I watched as she stood back up.  She walked towards the back of the chapel as Mr. Good stood up and walked up to the podium.

"I am sorry for the disruption that has just taken place. We are here to celebrate the life of my wife and her memory," he said as his voice cracked.

Rain walked over to me and winked as she stood between me and Laura. For a minute I was worried she was gonna kick the casket out the chapel and onto the sidewalk. I looked up at her and she was super red by now.

"If you would please behave and save all of the fighting till after the service I would appreciate it. Now pastor can you come and continue with the visitation. And Trice keep starting shit," he said and glared at his sister in law.

I grabbed Rain's hand. She looked down at our hands and smiled. She pulled my hand as we began to walk out the chapel and back to the office.

" I thought you was gonna kick the casket out," I said as she sat down in the chair and pulled me down onto her lap.

"I was but you would of probably curse me out and tell me I'm a horrible person," she said.

"After this can we eat?" I asked her.

" Yeah," she mumbled as she started to doze off.

I smiled and leaned back into her body as her grip became tighter.

"Rule number 2 sleep when you can while you can," Laura said and laughed.

"What's rule one?" I asked her.

"Never sleep with family no matter how sexy they are," Rain mumbled.

I laughed and looked back at Laura.

"How many rules are there?" I asked.

"I don't know ten or so. She makes them up as she goes along," Laura said and laughed.

"Uh oh," Laura said.

"No uh oh," Rain mumbled.

"Big uh oh Ms. Green is on her way in?" Laura mumbled.

"Shit lock the door," Rain said.

"She coming in hot Rainie," Laura said.

" Get up," Rain said.

I quickly got off her lap as she grabbed my hand. She pulled me quickly into the kitchen and out the back door.

"Rainie?" I asked her as she slowed down her pace.

"It's my standard escape route for crazy family members," she said as we walked around the building and into the front door.

I laughed as she open the door and looked around and pulled me inside and straight to her office.

"Your sneaky," I said and giggled.

"Just a tad bit," she said.

I watched as she sat down in her chair and pulled me into her lap. She wrapped her arms around my waist and pulled me closer.
