ISAAC'S POV

Friday had rolled around pretty quickly seeing as it had been only two days away and I found myself looking at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. There wasn't much to prepare except for my outfit since all my documents had already been in place for an event like this. Jeremy had suggested I dress sharp because first impressions are really important. I wasn't picky when it came to my dress code as long as I felt comfortable and liked how I looked I could wear anything. I had decided on blue khakis, a white button down, a grey blazer and some brown loafers. I had a few custom made suits courtesy of my father but I didn't want to look too formal for the interview.

"If you're done admiring yourself breakfast is ready." Jeremy yelled from the kitchen.

I knew he hadn't cooked any breakfast, the only decent thing he could do was make a cup of coffee. Giving myself one last look in the mirror I decided I was good to go. I kept my hair short, kind of having already been used to keeping that way when I was still a vet. I found beards scratchy so I always made sure to trim it down but not shave it off completely.

I walked into the kitchen and found Jeremy drinking coffee and beside him was some pathetic looking attempt at making toast and eggs. How could someone mess up eggs?

"Is that breakfast?" I asked with a cringe.

"Yeah."He replied sheepishly and I laughed at his attempt to look innocent.

I took off my suit jacket, rolled up my sleeves and put on an apron not wanting to mess up my clothes and got to work. Within ten minutes I'd made us some fried eggs, sausages and a few slices of toast each.

"This is one of the reasons I'm going to miss you when you leave." Jeremy commented munching down on some crunchy toast.

"Well I actually hope I get the job so I can stop being your personal chef." I retorted and he frowned at me."Where is Kim?" I asked noticing his absence.

He was always here for breakfast, liked nipping at my heels for a taste of my food. He was a huge fan of toast.

"The neighbors kid came by to pick him up while you were in the bathroom. I asked him to take care of him for a few hours since neither of us will be home." He explained and I nodded in understanding.

Kim had no issues being left in the house alone but the neighbors kid always loved having him. We kept referring to him as the neighbors kid because we always ended forgetting his name. He was fifteen and home schooled so he said Kim was good company for him and he always helped him pick up girls. Apparently Kim was a chick magnet. It was true in a way because we got stopped a lot when I took him for a walk, by all genders but especially the females.

I had no issue with female attention having been used to it all my life because of my looks. As long as they respected my boundaries and personal space they could look all they want. I'm not saying that to be cocky or anything but if I fought it and kept asking people to stop looking it'd take a lot more energy and time. I preferred coming to terms with the fact that I was good looking and that turned heads, that way all the attention wouldn't bother me as much.

I had been in two relationships my whole life and neither of them could handle the distance caused by me being in the military. They had seemed to take it well at first but after a few months they just couldn't handle it anymore and gave up. I didn't blame either of them because I didn't know how it felt to be in their shoes. Not knowing if I was safe or if I'd come back in one piece or never come back at all. I hadn't given up on love. I had just stopped looking.

Now that I was hopeful about getting a stable job maybe I could find someone to build a life with. It's not like I was getting any younger. In a few months I'd be thirty. Many people my age already had significant others but I didn't even have a job. I hoped that would change soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

"We better leave now if I am still going to drop you off." Jeremy claimed loading our dishes in the dishwasher.

He was really spoilt and didn't like hand washing dishes.

"Aren't you already late for work?" I asked him putting on my coat.

"My boss likes me so I'm not worried. I'll just say I had a flat tire or something." He declared.

"You used that excuse last time." I interjected picking up my folder with all my documents, my keys and my wallet.

"I'll think of something. Let's go." He grumbled.

I chuckled and followed him outside making sure to lock the door behind us. We said hello to a few of the neighbors we came across. Jeremy lived in a great apartment building on the second floor. They were clean and everyone respected each other. It was the perfect place for him.

When we got to his car he unlocked it and I settled myself in the passengers side. I'd already told him where I was going and he knew the place so he didn't need the directions. I was still familiarizing myself with the city and it was definitely a maze but I'm sure I'd catch up soon. Nairobi was always so full of life and it never ceased to amaze me at how so many people could be so comfortable being congested in one place. It was a beautiful city with so many things going on and had beautiful sites. I had been in worse places and Nairobi was doing good for itself even being the capital of a third world country.

"So did papa call again?" Jeremy asked after a few minutes of driving in silence.

"Not after how I talked to him last time." I replied and he hummed in response.

My dad had been so proud when I joined the military because he had a son he could brag about so when I quit he hadn't been too thrilled. He took it even worse when I told him I was leaving the US and moving to Kenya permanently. He didn't actually have a say in it because I was old enough to make my own decisions but he did take it hard.

My dad was not a bad person, he was just too much into his head about having the picture perfect family. I didn't believe in that, that's why I joined the military in the first place but he still took the joy out of that by always bragging about it. Now I was in another continent and I felt free to live my own life free from his shackles. And unless he could afford to buy the whole of Kenya then I was safe. He didn't even acknowledge my Kenyan family anyway and they didn't like him so it's not like I had anything to worry about there. I was thirty years old not eighteen, there are things I shouldn't have to worry about at all.

"Bro we're here." Jeremy announced touching my shoulder and jolting me from my thoughts.

I blinked a few times to clear my thoughts and looked outside. We were parked in front of a six storey building painted in jungle green with the name Zuri Safaris on its side. There were other business buildings around it but for some reason that particular building stood out.

"Good luck bro. You need it." Jeremy said with a whistle.

"Why did you say it like that?" I asked.

"Because this company belongs to one of the most influential business women in the country. She's not even a woman, makes her sound too old, she's a high class lady. She's been featured in" Who Owns Kenya? " and that's a big deal. Dude trust me, she may not look like it because she's a humble person but she is really powerful and a good business woman." Jeremy ranted.

His talk kind of shook me a little because it seemed like I was way over my head. Was this really what I had signed up for? But no there was no time for doubt as I was already there. I decided to shake off Jeremy's words and his go in.

"Thanks for the pep talk. I'll see you later." I replied still digesting everything that he had said and got out of the car.

"Good luck. Have a good day." He hollered at me.

"You too." I replied and watched him leave.

It was twenty minutes to ten so I was on time. At least she didn't work in those fifty floor skyscrapers. Now that would have been intimidating. There were a few cars parked outside in the lot and there were there reserved spaces on one side. One was marked CEO and an SUV was parked in front of it. The other two were empty, one was marked LK and the other AK. They must be related to the CEO because hers was marked MK. My boss was going to be a female, that was definitely going to be a whole new experience. I had no problem working for a female as long as the work environment was conducive for me.

Taking a deep breath I walked inside the the building. I had to go through a security check first which the always alert side of me approved off before walking to the reception. The building was very modern looking with white walls and nature paintings on the walls. There were three receptionists sitting behind a long desk all busy with other people so I had to wait a few minutes to be served. They were all immaculately dressed wearing ear pieces. Looks like this company meant business.

"Welcome to Zuri Safaris how may I help you." The nice looking lady asked me with a genuine smile on her face when it was my turn.

She looked stunned for a few seconds when she saw me but she composed herself real quick. See what I mean about turning heads.

I hope they were all nice because I had come across some very rude receptionists in the past.

"I have an interview here at ten." I replied with a small smile.

"Okay can I have your ID please." She requested trying her best not to make it obvious that she was checking me out.

I took out my ID and gave it to her. She clicked on her computer a few times before handing it back to me together with a visitors badge.

"Sixth floor." She directed pointing towards the elevators.

"Thank you." I replied with a grateful smile.

"Anytime."She squeaked blushing pink.

I walked towards the elevators and took an empty one to the top floor. I could have easily taken the stairs but I wanted to be on time with a few minutes to spare. The elevator opened revealing and immaculate floor with another reception at the front.

I walked towards her"Excuse me. I'm here for an interview." I informed her.

She looked up from her desk and I noticed her swallow hard checking me out. I hoped that wouldn't be a problem if I got the job.

"Oh yes that. ID and badge please." She requested and I handed her both.

She checked both of them and handed them back to me.

"Down this hallway and last door to your right." She instructed.

"Thank you. Have a nice day." I replied and followed her instructions.

I found the door marked CEO and opened it only to find another waiting room with two sofas and another fancy looking desk with a lady sitting behind it. Her plaque said Joan N. PA. I walked towards her.

"I'm here for the interview." I informed her. That statement was becoming sort of repetitive.

She didn't even look up when she replied too busy typing away. Someone was a busy bee.

"Take a seat and wait you turn. Miss. Kiarie will be with you shortly." She instructed.

I took my seat next to one other guy who looked too shabby to be here for an interview. He was also chewing something green looking. That was definitely not interview behavior. I decided to look away before I judged him too hard.

I looked around admiring the place. It looked like everyone who worked here enjoyed what they do and that's what I was looking for. A conducive working environment where I enjoyed my work and the pay was good.

"Mr Gichovi you can go in now. Don't knock just walk in." Joan instructed and the guy next to me went inside past the wooden doors.

He was the only one there which meant that I was next. I was not nervous I was just afraid I wouldn't get the job. I knew I was qualified enough for it and I just hoped the boss would see that too and give me the position. One thing was strange though is why the CEO was the one conducting the interview. Didn't she have people to do that for her? Well I was just there for the interview, the rest didn't actually concern me.

A few minutes later the guy came back out muttering curses under his breath. Were interviews supposed to be that short? He didn't say anything but walked straight out. I guess it didn't go so well for him. I waited my turn hoping it'd be better than his outcome.

My train of thought was interrupted by two ladies coming in and going straight to Joan's desk. They looked almost identical. Same height and facial features but different body shapes. They could pass for fraternal twins but the slim one looked a little older than the other.

"Hey Joan. How are you today?" The slim one greeted.

"Am good Miss. Lulu, Miss. Amani."She replied politely.

"Is she busy?" The one I had gathered as Lulu asked.

"No she's not but she has one more interview." Joan replied pointing at me with her pen and all three turned to look at me.

It was definitely a sight to see. Joan was looking at me for the first time even if I had been here for about ten minutes. She blinked really fast as if to confirm what she was seeing was right. Amani the younger one clamped her hands over her mouth holding in a gasp as her eyes went wide while Lulu gave me a once over, she didn't seem too affected by my looks.

"We'll just go in and see her before he does." Lulu proclaimed and dragged her sister who seemed to be in a trance staring at me. She gave me a shy wave which I returned with a kind smile. She seemed like a sweet girl but she was obviously too young for me. Lulu was not as affected by my looks, she dismissed me as if she was used to seeing people like me.

Joan was still staring at me and when I met her gaze she yelped and sat back down hiding behind her screen. She hid behind her computer but would peek at me ever few seconds. It was very amusing. She looked like a nice person too but if I got my job I didn't think it would be nice to date someone I worked in the same environment with.

After a few more minutes Joan told me that it was my turn to go in and that I didn't have to knock. I stood up and straightened my jacket and walked to the door. I still rapped on it a few times before turning the knob and walking in. I don't think I was prepared for the all the feelings that bombarded my body when I saw the gorgeous beauty sitting behind the desk. Oh boy I was definitely going to need all of Jeremy's good luck on this one and maybe some more. I took a much needed calming breath and walked towards her feeling very unprepared. I hope I didn't screw it up by saying something dumb. Keep your fingers crossed for me you guys.
