Song for this chapter: Shiny Happy People

- R.E.M

The drive home was long, made even longer than it should be with consistent stops every thirty minutes so Gray could get his coffee. We were up all night. Waking him up after I was awoken by the alarm was a difficult task, and while I was struggling to keep my own eyes open I was doing everything I could to wake him up.

After trying everything, he just pulled me back in his arms, telling me to go back to sleep before shutting his eyes. I had to pour water over him, and when he complained I just argued that it was his fault we were up all night anyway and that I actually had warned him last night that he knew he was going to be driving today.

He then told me that it wasn't his fault I was irresistible.

"You excited to be home?" He questions, as we begin to pull into my road. I pout for a second, realising that as much as I can't wait to see my dad and brother after our long weekend away, we have school tomorrow and that thought alone sours my mood. "By that face I'm guessing not," he chuckles, pulling to a stop next to my house, "what? You gonna miss me too much, lil' one?" He smiles goofily, raising one hand to tuck my hair behind my ear.

"No Mr self obsessed, I was thinking about school." I state, watching as Grayson then gets out of the car to circle around to my side where he opens the door and stands in front of me.

"At least you'll see me there." He smirks, leaning in to place a kiss on the corner of my mouth, his hands resting on each of my bare thighs. I decided on wearing his shirt that came up extremely oversized on me, along with a pair of his sweat shorts for the journey home to make myself as comfortable as possible. My boyfriend obviously had no issue with this, I'd caught him with a constant triumphant smirk on his face as we walked through the service station hand in hand, knowing that no one would dare look in my direction while I was wearing his clothes.

"Layla!" Lydia screams from the doorway, running towards the car. "Move." She says, pushing Grayson out of the way and then dragging me out into her arms. "I missed your pretty face." She complains, making me laugh as I squeeze her tightly.

"I missed you too Lyds." I say, giggling when she lifts me up and twirls me around.

"Did you miss me as well Lyds?" Grayson taunts, and I see him leaning on his car with his arms folded when Lydia finally lets me go.

"You really think I'd miss you when you took her from me for a whole weekend?" She scoffs, grabbing my hand to pull me into my house. She drags me past both Reece and Myles who I didn't even realise we're going to be here.

"I'll get the bags then, should I?" Grayson calls after me, but I just supply him with a sheepish smile, as I greet both Myles and Reece who are stood outside my front door.

"I'll help man." Reece offers, running past me to my boyfriend after hugging me.

"Go on, suck his dick harder, Reece." Lydia calls, while opening my front door and dragging me inside.

"Are we having burgers for lunch?" I shout, my nose detecting the familiar smell. I wander into the kitchen to see my dad flipping patties over the grill.

"Nice to see you too, sweetheart." He mutters sarcastically, making me grin. I walk forward to wrap my arms around his neck from behind. The weight of meeting my mom feels heavy on my shoulders, knowing that I'll have to wait until the right time to tell my dad and brother.

"Missed you." I tell him, before walking away - hearing the boys enter through the front door while laughing.

"Do you want your bag in your room, Layls?" Grayson calls from the bottom of the stairs.

"No don't worry, I'll bring it up." I tell him, frowning when I hear his footprints come closer.

"I'll do it." He tells me, narrowing his eyes at me to which I roll my eyes at. He turns his attention to my dad who's in the middle of flipping a burger. "I missed you, Chris."

"I missed you too, Gray." He tells him, "I hope you kept your hands to yourself."

My eyes widen as the multiple unholy things Gray did to me flicker through my mind, triggering the stupid blush that causes Grayson to smirk when he lays his eyes on it.

"Of course I did, sir." He says and I notice his fingers crossed behind his back.

"What a liar." My dad hums, turning to stir the onions in the pan.

"I'm not lying." Gray argues, his fingers still crossed.

"Whatever you say, son." My dad taunts.

"As much as I'm invested in this conversation," Lydia interrupts, "can you get your boyfriend to leave so we can have girl time - he's had you all weekend." I watch as Grayson smirks, turning his head to face away from my dad to hide his wide grin. Lydia didn't mean it like that but his dirty little mind took it that way.

"Don't look at me." I hold my hands up, trying to ignore Grayson's heated gaze fixed on me. "I didn't invite him in."

"Harsh, baby." Grayson glares at me, the mischievous smirk still on his face as he remembers everything we've been up to this weekend.

"I'm guessing you have something to do with that?" Lydia turns to my dad, with her hands on her hips while she scrutinises every move he makes.

"He's staying for dinner, why don't you girls go upstairs? I'm sure the boys can entertain themselves down here." My dad suggest, and Lydia nods her head - satisfied with his solution.

"We might need to get Connor down to babysit." I comment, already getting dragged out of the room by Lydia.

"Well, he must get enough practice with you here." Grayson taunts and I reach back to lightly pinch his arm in retaliation. He flinches at the pain but stays in the kitchen with my dad as I get dragged up to my room by Lydia.

"You don't understand how awful it was without you here. It was just Myles, Reece and I. Do you know what torture that was?" She asks me while rolling her eyes. "I hope Grayson got his fill of you because he won't be seeing you for at least two months to make up for what he did." She pushes me onto my bed and then jumps onto it herself, her mood suddenly lifted and her eyes wide with intrigue.

"What?" I question timidly, averting my eyes as I know what she's about to ask.

"What do you mean 'what?' You know what!" She tucks a curl behind her ear as she sits upright, her gaze fixed on me. "How was it?"

"It was good, hot and very sunny. Grayson took me everywhere I wanted-"

"You fuckin' know that's not what I meant." She points her pointer finger at me and tuts like she's scolding a child. "Big?" She asks. "Small?" She asks with a wince when I give her no answer, "Dom or sub?" She continues, "positions?" She presses, "locations?" Her questions only make me go even more red as they continue, "just tell me one thing, did he tie you up?"

"LYDIA!" I shout, mortified as I continue to wish I never came home.

Grayson's POV

"LYDIA!" I hear Layla shout from upstairs and immediately both boys turn away from the game to look at me. I start to smirk, oh how I'd love to be upstairs right now watching my girl blush crazily as Lyds questions her relentlessly.

"Dude, that good?" Reece whispers, afraid of speaking too loud. This is Layla's house and I'd hate for her dad to overhear and think I'm that kind of guy who boasts about his daughter in that way.

"Yes." I answer simply, a knowing glint in my eye as I remember everything about this weekend.

"So what was it like?" Myles asks, but I just clear my throat while shaking my head.

"A gentlemen never tells." I say smugly, taking a sip from the ice cold glass of water in my hands.

"Layla is telling Lyds." Myles counters, leading a snort to erupt from me.

"More like Lyds is forcing it out of her." I chuckle, "besides they're girls, they talk about it differently to us."

Layla's POV

"Did he break your back? Your legs? Do a little walk, let me see if you're walking funny." She continues and at this point I'm certain she's only asking so many questions to taunt me and make me blush bright red. I take a pillow and hit her round the face with it and continue to do so until she's screaming mercy.

"Are you gonna shut up now?" I ask her, pausing my attack.

"I just wanted to know about the best night of my bestfriend's life." She pouts dramatically, leaning her chin on her hands as she lays on her stomach propped up on her elbows, "The best after every night you've ever spent with me." She adds.

"It was amazing." I huff, lying back on my bed, "I love him so fucking much, Lyds." I tell her, turning to face her. I watch as her eyes light up, and a huge grin makes its way onto her face.

"I'm so happy for you!" She squeals, tackling me into a hug when she realises that I told Gray I loved him as well. "Look at how far you've come, Layla Greene. I'm so proud of you." She awes, resting her head on my shoulder.

"No." I interrupt, "look at how far we've come." I tell her, watching as her eyes shine with tears. I know better than anyone that Lydia has come a long way from where she was when I first met her and I feel immense pride watching her become the person she is now.

"You're gonna make me cry." She whispers, a tear already slipping down her cheek. I watch in alarm as more fall down and soon I realise that we're both crying.

Thirty minutes later, we're walking down the stairs with puffy eyes and red faces. I notice how Grayson's gaze fixates on me almost immediately after hearing footsteps and I watch in amusement as panic arises on his face at the sight of me after traces of mine and Lydia's crying session linger on my face. Lydia is already over annoying Reece and Myles, so when Grayson sits up and extends his arm over the back of the couch to make room for me, I waste no time going over and snuggling into him.

"You okay, baby?" He whispers once I've rested my head on his shoulder.

"Yeah, we were just watching the vampire diaries." I lie and wince when I hear his dark chuckle.

"You can tell me the truth later." He says and lightly pokes my side in warning for the lie I just told him. "Did she question you too much that you found yourself wishing we were back in LA?" He smirks at me, and I roll my eyes at his over-confidence.

"More like crying because I was reminded of how bad it was." I sniffle, amused as I watch his smirk disappear instantly. Only seconds later, he nods his head slowly with a deadly smirk on his face which promises retribution later. I wriggle uncomfortably as he keeps his heated gaze on me, while he lightly tugs at the ends of my hair.

"Lovebirds!" Someone calls, snapping my gaze away from Gray as I notice for the first time that everyone has already left the room and now my brother stands in front of us with his arms folded. "Food's ready." He glares at Grayson, forcing me to push him once I've stood up.
When we get to the table, everyone is already sat and I smile in appreciation when Gray pulls my chair out for me.

"The perfect gentlemen." Lydia scoffs and then proceeds to kick Reece in the shin - who was unsuspecting as he choked on a mouthful of his burger.

"What?" He scowls at his girlfriend, after he's drank some water and properly swallowed his bite. She just aggressively points to Gray, who looks at his friend smugly while taking a bite of his own burger. Reece still looks confused.

"Don't mind me, just being the boyfriend every girl wants." He says after he's finished chewing. It's my turn to kick him, although I only nudge him gently with my foot, not wanting to hurt him. His eyes soften when he notices and he immediately makes a comment on it, causing the whole table to erupt in awes.

"We get it, you're the best couple ever. Shut up." Lydia grumbles, before aggressively taking a bite out of her burger.

"I personally think dad and Connor are the best couple." I argue, with a smirk on my face. Immediately my dad's head snaps up to look at me, along with Connor's.

"Hmm," my dad mumbles while pointing at me with his fork as he munches on his salad, "I really didn't miss you."

"What so you'd rather have Connor here than me?" I ask, my eyebrows raised in question.

"No I'd rather have neither of you." He replies cheekily, winking at me. Connor just scoffs, before throwing a handful of salad at my dads face.

"I didn't miss you either by the way." Connor joins in, glaring at me.

"I could tell by the way you didn't even stop your video games to come and say hi." I giggle. My brother turns his next to smile at me before leaning over the table to kiss my forehead.

"I'm glad you're home, Lala." He grins, before continuing to eat.

"So... what did you guys get up to?" My dad asks, eager to know where we went. I excitedly go into all of the details about where we went, when we went there and how amazing it was. I talk about Disneyland and watching the fireworks, only briefly mentioning seeing Alex on the beach to prevent Grayson going into a fit of rage.
Grayson tries to shut me up when I speak about him telling me he loves me and all of the effort he went into to make telling me special. He hated that, especially when Connor pointed out the blush on his cheeks.

I plant a kiss on his cheek, while chuckling, finding him adorable as he puts his head in his hands and he wishes the blush to disappear. Payback for all of the times he's done that to me and worse.

"So when are you getting the ring, blushy boy?" Myles jokes from the end of the table.

"Yeah, when are you getting the ring?" I echo, resting my chin in my palm as I gaze at him with a cheeky grin. Gray clears his throat, putting his drink back down after taking a sip. He catches my gaze and matches my grin; his eyes sparkling.

"Who says I haven't already got it?" He smirks, and my dad let's put a chuckle.

"Me. You better not have, I want to give permission first." He jokes.

"And me." Connor adds.

"Also me." Reece jokes and Grayson turns to face him with a glare.

"You're never getting a ring." He turns to me quickly, making a laugh erupt from my mouth.

"Yeah, I wouldn't want to be your wife anyway." I say nonchalantly,  while shrugging my shoulders and continuing to eat. I watch Grayson's mouth drop open from the corner of my eye, and my lips turn up in response. Connor erupts into a fit of laughter from opposite me as well as Myles who starts to hit Grayson on the shoulder while he laughs. I watch in amusement as Grayson's fist draws back and then powerfully flies forward and hits Myles in the shoulder.
I wince as Myles' face distorts from the pain, and lightly elbow Grayson in the gut.

"My girl," my dad awes as he reaches over to grab my hand, "in high school and already being proposed to." He laughs and pats my hand condescendingly.

"I didn't propose." Grayson argues while sending a playful glare to everyone at the table.

I smile watching everyone at the table as they eat, finding myself wishing that this moment could never end - everyone happy and smiling.

But I guess good times don't last forever. And happiness is only a temporary emotion.

I've been reading my earlier chapters so much recently and I really want to rewrite a few and change a couple of things about the storyline and the characters. However I'm reaching nearer to the end of the book so I'm just wondering if you'd like me to finish it before I redo the chapters or you'd like me to redo the chapters before I finish the whole book. Or I might just edit at the same time as continuing to write. I just wanted to get you guys' opinions on it before I start any major changes to it.

I know that many of you won't want to read it all again which is why I want to continue to update while I'm making edits.

I feel like my writing has improved at least a little bit and the earlier chapters aren't a true representation of the characters I've created idk
