Song for this chapter: Life is worth living

- By Justin Bieber

A/N - this was meant to be up last Thursday, but I'm a bad person and completely forgot about it, I'm so sorry❤️

Gray potters around the treehouse for a while, in efforts to try and find some biscuits that he apparently left from his last visit.

"When did you come here last?" I ask, timidly. If these biscuits have been here longer than a few weeks, that's not gonna be good.

"Last Wednesday." He tells me and I just nod my head.

"Do you come here often?"

"Yeah. It's my favourite place, you know?"

"I'm not surprised." I say with a little nod of my head. It's beautiful here.

He finally finds the biscuits and smiles widely as he clambers over to me, jumping over the back of sofa to land next to me. Offering me some, we both sit munching on cookies as we watch the sunset through the treehouse window. It's so pretty.

"Open your eyes! You can't sleep in the middle of this sunset, Laz!" Cleo screeches as she grabs my wrists and gently tugs me up into a seated position where she believed I could sit and watch the sunset from. This girl loved sunsets. She loved them so much that she'd read a website and find out when the ones with the prettiest colours would appear; she even knew a whole explanation as to why the colours were brighter than others on some days rather than other days. And she knew the exact meaning is the saying "Red skies at night, shepherd's delight. Red skies at morning, shepherd's warning," and assured me that this wasn't just a saying, that it was in fact so much more. In her words anyway.

Oh, how I loved her and her brain. It always fascinated me how could narrow in on different subjects how she does. If she's interested in something, it's all she'll talk about.

Unfortunately, I've seen about a hundred sunsets with this girl and she stills gives me the same information and speech regarding his lucky we are to see such pretty colours.

"It's so pretty, Clee." I mumble, squinting my eyes slightly to try and focus on the pretty colours better.

"Pretty like you." A deep voice says from behind.

"Mase!" I squeal and scurry off the bed to greet him. He plants a kiss on my cheek and chuckles at my enthusiasm to see him.

"Oh yes! Mason, ruin girl time why don't you?" Cleo huffs, Mason just smirks as he lets me go and walks over to her.

"Cleo, watching sunsets can be done by all genders." He chastises, mocking her.

"Grr, I hate couples." She says bitterly, and I chuckle. She loves couples really. She's just envious. She wants a boyfriend, and I know one day she's going to have one that meets her high standards, because boy oh boy her standards are high. But at least she's not desperate and knows that the right guy isn't just anyone.

"Only because you're not in one, Clee Clee." Mason mocks and I roll my eyes at him.

"Mase shut up." I say, "cmon Clee, let's watch the sunset before you get upset that you've missed it." I tell her and she quickly scrambles to sit on the bed. I sit next to her and rest my head on Mason's shoulder as his arm weals around my waist. He plants a kiss on my forehead and I drift slowly into oblivion.

If only forever could've felt like this.

"My dad always brought me up here to watch the sunsets." He tells me and I smile thinking of a little Gray sitting here with his father just patiently watching.

"When I was little, he always used to say that sunsets were the way that God sent us messages. That they meant that he was proud of what we had accomplished that day."

"Are you religious?" I ask and he shakes his head.

"My dad is. Although he doesn't believe the Bible word-for-word and is the least judgemental guy on this planet. I don't know what I believe, but I'd hope that there's something more after we, you know, die." He says and I nod my head in agreement.

"Yeah." I say lamely. Because I believe that if Heaven and Hell do exist, I'll be going straight down.

I'd like to hope that Cleo is somewhere luxurious right now. Her feet up, sipping pineapple juice with God's angels. She sure deserves it.

"C'mon, lets get you back to Lyds. She'll be throwing a fit that I've taken her "lesbian lover" away from her." He laughs as he stands. He gently pulls me up with him and we start our walk back to the car.

"That's what she's been saying?" I giggle.

"Apparently it's your option B, if the husband and kids life doesn't work for you."

"Yeah, we'll run away with each other and buy a house somewhere secluded." I laugh.

"You husband would definitely not let you leave." Grayson says, still chuckling and I become a little rigid as my heart beats quicker.

When we reach the car and get in, Grayson plugs in his phone to the aux and hands it to me. "Go wild." He says and I excitedly take it, immediately clicking on his music and scrolling through.

"I love this song!" I say, clicking on Goosebumps by Travis Scott.

"Look at us, having music in common." He says causing me to smile. "Anyone would think we're best friends." He winks and I chuckle.

"As if Lydia would ever let you call yourself my best friend." I laugh and he grins.

"Of course she wouldn't. I'll have to become something else then?" He hints and I smile.

"My pimp?" I joke and smile shyly when he bursts into laughter.

"I was talking about being your boyfriend, but if you're a prostitute..." he trails off laughing and I feel myself blush the tiniest bit as I laugh with him.

I look out the window briefly and see that we're almost at Lydia's house.

"Why are we back already?" I ask as I frown in confusion.

"We took the long way after you started playing One Direction. I wanted to see if your music taste got better." He teases and I send him a glare.

"You'll be there with me at the 1D reunion, trust me." I say with narrowed eyes.

"Yes and I'll be wearing a crop top with their faces on the front and the tour dates on the back!" He exclaims sarcastically as he rolls his eyes.

"Of course you will! I'll be wearing the same, so will Lydia. Goals!" I say over-enthusiastically.

He laughs and then presses his blinker as we begin to pull over to Lydia's house.

"I'm scared." I say as I suck in an over dramatic breath.

"Go." He nods to the door and I get out of the car timidly.

"Hey Gray?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you for today, the treehouse and sunset was amazing." I smile, and shut the car door.

"Yeah it was a great first date." He mutters after he rolled down the window.

"A date?" I splutter, but he only smirks before driving off. I'm left with my mouth open, shocked.

I'm all of a sudden knocked to the floor as someone starts continuously screaming.

"Lydia." I growl, struggling to talk as she knocked the air right out of my lungs. She laughs like crazy while still lying on me. "Get off me." I beg.

"How dare you?" She screeches. "All day you were gone! All fucking day! How dare you ditch me for a boy? Not just a boy - Grayson!" She shouts, not angrily though. Her face looks happy.

"He drove off without my permission! I just wanted shotgun!" I defend myself. But all she does is roll her eyes. She's still on top of me!

"So how was it then?"

"How was what?"

She slaps me upside the head.

"Your date with Gray." She says like it's obvious.

"It wasn't a date."

She slaps me again.

"Don't lie to me. I heard what the boy said."

"He was joking."

Again. She slaps me.

"No he wasn't!" Yes he was. There was no way he could've not been joking. It wasn't a date. It was not at all date like. It would've been cute if it was. But it wasn't. It absolutely wasn't.

"We were meant to be watching a movie and then you were supposed to help me get ready for my date! Now it's too late and you have to go home. Just because you decided to go on a date yourself. Selfish bitch." She says with a smile on her face as she finally rolls off of me.

"I can help you get ready?" I offer but she shakes her head in disappointment.

"Your dad will go nuts if you aren't back by seven. Family dinner remember?" She reminds me and I gasp.

"Shitttt! I'm gonna be late! I'll FaceTime you though and help you pick an outfit?"

"Yes! Good idea! But you need to go now before your dad kills you. Here's your bag." She says and then hands my backpack over and I blow her a kiss before I sprint in the direction of home.

"You don't want a lift?" She shouts after me.

"Nah. I need some exercise anyway." I call back to her.

"Text me when you're home safe please." She orders and I nod my head with a smile. Cutie.
