As soon as I exited the stadium gate, I rushed to my car. My heart was racing a mile a minute, and my hands were gently shaking against the steering wheel.

Once I made it to the nearest drug store I rushed in, frantically searching for a test. When I finally found one them, I took two, just in case.

When I brought them up to the register I gave a small smile to the elderly lady behind the desk. Her smile only got brighter when she noticed what I was paying for, but she never said anything. For that I was thankful, because as of right now I don't fully trust my voice.

After paying for the items I once again hurried towards my car, heading straight to my apartment complex.

The elevator ride up was excruciating, my mind could focus on just one thing. Myles, the pregnancy test, my new job. So much is happening and I just can't keep up.

Finally the ding from the elevator sounded, and I made my way towards my door.

Waiting for the results felt like an eternity. My hands were sweaty, and heart was thumping loudly in my chest.

Finally after five three minutes passed, it was time to check. First I turned the box over to look at what both results meant.

One line = Not pregnant

Two lines = Pregnant

I looked at the little white stick. My breath hitched when I saw two prominent pink lines.

I scrambled to take the other test.

Same result.

I'm pregnant.

Though I was currently freaking out. I couldn't help but feel a tad bit excited. I've always wanted to be a mom. I just expected it to be with my husband and not a football player I met at a bar.

Suddenly my thoughts drifted towards Myles. There's no way that he could be okay with this. He's a professional football player who is constantly traveling and hardly has time to eat, let alone care for a baby.

But I would be traveling as well. Now that I'm photographing his team.

Maybe this could work.

That is, if he wants it to work.

Just from the few times I've met Myles he seems like a good guy. But looks can be deceiving.

I guess I should call him.

Myles

I was just getting into my car, leaving practice, when I suddenly felt my phone vibrating in the pocket of my basketball shorts.

When I took it out a smile lit my face as I looked at the name.

Incoming call from...
Harper 🤤😏🍑

The emoticons just added to my already wide smile.

When I picked up the phone I answered,"Hey," with an overly chirpy voice. I quickly cough,"I mean, hey," I said with a deeper voice. My hand immediately palmed my face which was slowly turning red.

She chuckled quietly but I could still hear it.

All at once the tension became thick. It felt as if we were having an intimate conversation with someone else in the room.

"So.... I was wondering if we could meet up sometime," she asked with a breathless, shaky voice.

I could feel my hearbeat pick up speed at the thought of seeing her again.

"Just name a time and place babe, and I'll be there," I said playfully.

"Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" I asked confused.

I didn't hear anything.

"That was the sound of me rolling my eyes."

I tilted my head back letting out a laugh.

"How about tonight at 6, my apartment," she said with seriousness.

I was confused as to why she wanted to hang out at her place. But I quickly told her that I would be there.

When the line went dead I received a text from Harper with the address of her apartment.

The next few hours dragged on. Six couldn't come fast enough.

When it was about time to leave I quickly threw on a pair on dark blue jeans, boots, and a red flannel button up.

When I arrived at her apartment I had gotten just a tad bit nervous, but I don't understand why.

Hey, we've seen each other naked. So....

I gave three hard knocks on her door. Not five seconds later she opened the door, looking just as beautiful as the last two times I've seen her.

Her hair was slightly disheveled, looking as though she's been running her hands through it.

She gave me a tight lipped smile, and held the door open wider for me to walk in.

Her apartment was clean with dim lighting. From where I was standing you could see the kitchen and living area. With a hall straight across from me.

Harper led me over to the couch.

She's been awfully quiet tonight.

I thought nothing of it as we both sat down in the couch, our knees almost touching.

She looked nervous, and I didn't know what to think of it.

"Why do you look so nervous?" I asked voicing my thoughts. I haven't known her for too long though I've spent enough time with her to know that she usually isn't this quiet.

"Well," she paused, "there's something I need to tell you."

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Harper then pulled something out from her pocket.

My eyes widened at the two pregnancy tests in her hand.

"I'm pregnant," she said shyly still looking at the tests in her hand.

A small gasp left my lips as she said those two words.  Then I asked the question that she may take the wrong way, but needed to be asked.

"I don't mean to offend you, but are you sure the baby's mine and not your ex boyfriend's," I asked sheepishly.

She nodded her head, "I understand why you asked me, but yes I am sure. Luke and I hadn't had sex for two months before we broke up, because I was so busy with my exams. And since there's no bump and I'm just now experiencing morning sickness, there is no way it could be his."

After she was done explaining I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

"But if you'd like we can get a DNA test, once the baby is born."

I loved how she was being so considerate towards me and my life. She understood how this would affect me in my line of work.

"If you wouldn't mind," I said being considerate towards her.

She nodded her head, her shoulders sagging in relief.

"You took that a lot better than I expected you too," she said with a slight chuckle.

I laughed lightly, "This may be weird, but I've always loved the idea of having a kid. Playing with them in the yard and giving them piggyback rides."

I was looking at the ground, but when I looked back at her, her eyes were twinkling with a slight happiness.

"Me too."

She spoke with such honesty, and conviction. It made me that much more excited for the baby.

"I booked an appointment with the doctor for an ultrasound, if you want to come," she said sheepishly.

My smile became even wider. "Of course! I would love to."

She smiled at me.

My eyes flickered down to her stomach. Though there was no bump, just knowing that our little creation was growing inside her was enough to make this running back crumble to his knees.

Deep down I knew this baby was mine, and I was going to do my best to make sure his mom was mine as well.
