Harper

The buzzer sounds, signaling the end of the first half.

It's the first home game of the season, we're up, but only by three against the San Francisco 49ers.

The boys start making there way off the field to the locker rooms. I begin to follow, slowly but surely in my wheelchair, trying desperately to hold onto my equipment while still using my hands to propel the chair.

Suddenly I start to move, much faster, no help from myself.

"Don't worry, I gotcha babe," whispered Myles, his lips brushing against my earlobe.

I sighed in satisfaction, his show of affection warming my chilly body instantly.

We walk through the doors of the locker room, the warm air hitting instantly.

"I got it from here, go join the team," I tell him with as small smile of reassurance.

Since the accident he has barely left my side, never wanting me to strain myself too hard. He's being protective and it's very sweet, but I worry that he forgets to take care of himself sometimes.

He gives me a hesitant look, but eventually gives in, "Alright, don't go back out there before we're done, I'll push you back out to your spot."

I give him a firm nod.

Relief shows through his features, "Thank you!" he says quickly bending down giving me a light peck on the lips.

Myles hurries through the doors to meet his team, leaving me with a love sick grin on my face. Everything has become so familiar with him, never forced, never awkward.

I pick up my forgotten camera from my lap, looking through the photos that I took, deleting the ones I thought weren't good enough or were just boring shots.

Lost in my own thoughts I didn't realize someone was approaching me.

"Hi Harper," I slightly jump in my chair when I hear someone say my name. I look up from my camera to see Kayla silently laughing at me.

I chuckle along with her, "Hi Kayla."

"I haven't talked to you in a while, how have you been?" she asks with a genuine smile.

"I've been really good actually, besides the wheelchair that is," I laugh.

"Well you're handling it a lot better than I would've."

I smile, thinking of how Myles has been my main source of strength, "If it weren't for Myles... I don't think I would be doing as good as I am. He's always there for me, taking care of us," at this I touch my bump, "he carries me everywhere because he wants me to heal as best as possible. He cooks for me, he cleans up after, even when I protest. I don't know what I would do without him."

I look back up at her, realizing that I had spaced out while I was talking. Kayla wears an earsplitting grin on her face, like she knows something I don't.

"It sounds like you're in love with him," she states matter-of-factly.

A deep sigh resonates through my nostrils, "How could I not be? He's everything I've ever wanted, everything I never knew I needed. He cares about me so deeply, he loves and adores our child. Myles in the best person I know. His heart is kind and pure, he holds a childlike innocence that I absolutely love. He can be goofy and make me laugh, but he can also be sweet and gentle."

"So yes, I am definitely in love with him."

Kayla looks back at me with excitement, "Why don't you tell him then?"

My answer is instantaneous, "Because I don't think we're ready. Yes, we have a deep connection. Yes, we're absolutely enamored by one another. But, we haven't even officially been together a week. Maybe it's just me who isn't ready. Maybe I'm not ready to love again. Even though I've obviously already have fallen for him, telling him that would make it real."

She nods her head in understanding.

Before she had a chance to say anything more we hear the sound of loud cheers erupt from the room next to us.

I quickly move away from the door so I wouldn't get ran over by a bunch of huge football players.

They all start running out, Myles coming out last so we could follow the rest of them. He carefully, but quickly leads me back to my main spot at the fifty yard line.

Giving me a swift kiss on the cheek he sprints off towards the team.

I continue to take pictures throughout the third and fourth quarter, following the team up and down the field with each play.

The game was close, but they luckily secured the win with an amazing play with four minutes to go in the fourth.

I now sit here taking different pictures around the stadium as I wait for Myles and the rest of the players to finish with their post-game interviews.

With the camera up to my face, I look through the lens, looking for anything worth taking a picture of.

My view is soon obstruct by a wall of muscly skin.

I lift the camera higher towards the mans face to be met by the familiar sight of Myles.

Well, he is definitely something worth taking a picture of.

I begin taking pictures of him, he tries to dodge the camera, all of the sudden shy.

His cheeks turn slightly pink as I continue.

Not wanting to embarrass him I drop the camera, laughing lightly.

"I think those are some of the best pictures I've ever taken," I comment truthfully, scrolling through them.

Myles looks away, rolling his eyes, cheeks still slightly rosy.

"Are you ready?" he asks, clearly trying to change the subject.

I nod my head with a smile on my face, "Are we going out with some of the others?"

"Yeah just a few though. I think it's just supposed to be Jake, Jax, Teagan, and us," he says as he starts pushing me towards the entrance.

Soon we make it to Myles' car. He helps me into it, then puts my wheelchair up.

They had decided that we should go to Buzzbrews since it's a 24-hour restaurant and it was pretty late, plus the guys probably wanted to get a few drinks after their win.

The drive was pretty short, only around thirty minutes because of the light traffic. The small amount of time we were in the car however was spent with laughter and hand-holding. Every once in a while he's lift our joined hands and kiss my knuckles, making my heart beat faster and faster, and my stomach flutter in happiness.

We're sitting in the restaurant, enjoying time with friends. Luckily the place is pretty empty with it being a late Sunday night. Everyone except Myles and I had a drink, being the only sober ones was pretty entertaining, you never know what kind of things were coming out of their mouths.

All of the sudden I become slightly winded from a small, unexpected movement in my stomach. The movements become harder and harder, more rapid.

With one hand resting on my stomach, I use the other to quickly get Myles' attention.

He snaps his head of to me quickly, "Harper? Are you okay?" he asks worriedly.

I take his hand and rest it on my stomach, the baby still frantically kicking, even more now at the sound of our voices.

Myles looks at me is surprise, "Oh my gosh, she's strong," he laughs, still in a daze.

"WAIT! I WANT TO FEEL!" yells drunk Jax from the other end of the table.

He hurriedly gets up, stumbling a little to reach me.

I move my hand to allow him to touch my stomach.

However instead of his hand touching my stomach, it lands right on my swelled breast.

I raise an eyebrow at him, though he doesn't even seem to realize what he's doing.

"Huh, I don't know what the fuss is about, I don't even feel anything," he says looking at Myles expectantly.

I roll my eyes at him, lifting his hand and placing it on my stomach.

"Ahhh! What was THAT?!" he shouts pulling his hand away.

I look at Myles, I can't tell if he wants to laugh or slap him or both.

"That was my daughter," Myles says, "she was kicking. Though she probably went back into hiding after hearing you yell."

Everyone laughs at the table, none as intoxicated as Jax.

Though Myles was right about one thing, she had stopped kicking.

"Come on babygirl, kick a little bit more for me," Myles softly coos at my stomach. His large hand resting under my shirt on top of my round belly.

All of the sudden she starts kicking again, a little harder than the first time.

I look up at Myles only to see he's already looking at me. He pulls me closer placing his lips on mine for a long peck, then moving his lips to my forehead.

We stay in each other's embrace, enjoying this moment together.
