A/N: Heyo! You kind of already know where this scene is taking place but of course, I won't leave out any detail. Also, I have slightly altered the scene for lore purposes. Also sorry for the late update! I haven't been feeling good all day today. 'Kay, see ya at the end of the chapter! (Art credit goes to Kanzaki-vs)

Connor's POV

While Connor waited for (Y/n) and the Lieutenant to finish up their lunch break he had thought to himself. My defectiveness is growing worse, and it's becoming more noticeable. What am I to do if Cyberlife finds out? I should just ignore all these software instabilities. Maybe it'll set my programming back to normal. He was flashed out of his mental debate when the two doors on the left side swung open. "What's the address, Connor?" Lieutenant asked putting the keys into ignition.

"Barley Ave. Apartment 105 on the top floor." He copied the report off the top of his head.

The Lieutenant, (Y/n), and Connor sat in the musty car on their way to the said location of a supposed deviant. (Y/n) sat in the backseat while Lieutenant and Connor sat in the two front seats that had perfect visual of the parking spot that he was pulling into. "Here we are." The Lieutenant announced; turning the engine off. "I'm going to make a call to Fowler and let him know of the situation. No schmoozing while I'm gone, got it?" Connor and (Y/n) both nodded. He stepped out of the car leaving Connor and her alone.

"Connor?" She broke the tension.

He didn't turn around to face (Y/n), but instead stared at her through the visor mirror. Connor's chocolate orbs boring into her (E/c) ones. An intense moment between the two. Here goes nothing. He finally decided to speak up. "Yes, Detective?" He resorted to calling her by her official work title.

"Woah wait why are we back to Detective?" She somberly questioned.

"It's more professional than calling you by your first name. I'm sorry to disappoint, Detective." He repeated in a stone-cold manner that even made him internally cringe. For a short moment, his LED flickered an amber yellow then back to a soft blue. Luckily, (Y/n) hadn't seen it.

"Why the sudden change of heart? Y-You were fine during lunch." She questioned feeling a bit hurt that Connor was neglecting her out of the blue.

"Like I said, it's more professional than calling you by your first name. We are coworkers after all." Connor stated harshly. He could feel his Thirium pump palpitate within his chest.

"So-" (Y/n)'s voice slightly cracked at the beginning of her sentence. "Last night... What was that?"

"At first it was an error in my software that had repaired itself rather quickly. The rest of it was moral support for the passing of your deceased father." Connor partially lied.

Through the mirror, he saw (Y/n) shake her head depressingly with glistening tears on the verge of falling off her waterline. But there was nothing he could do about it. If he wanted to fix the actual errors in his software then he had to stay put until told to do something. I must follow protocol. She threw the door open rubbing her eyes and walked past the occupied Lieutenant.

Confused, he hung up the phone and opened the car door aggressively. "What the hell happened in here? I was gone for less than five minutes!" Lieutenant shouted.

"I'm unsure why the Detective is acting peculiar. But to the looks of her route, she's on her way to the apartment. We should catch up with her." Connor blankly suggested; fighting against everything to run to her and calm her. "Fucking plastic pricks. All you care about is your fuckin' mission. You don't seem to understand that us humans have feelings. So whatever the fuck you said obviously upset her. Join us when you're not a smart ass dick!" The Lieutenant slammed the door shut and jogged over to the speed walking (Y/n). What have you gotten yourself into, Connor?

CONFLICTING ORDERS

SELECTING PRIORITY

FOLLOW LT. ANDERSON

Connor pushed the car door open and stepped out. The overcast had started to clear up by then. The few rebel rays of sun had peeked through and made Detroit just a bit brighter. By the time Connor caught up with the Lieutenant, (Y/n) had already ridden the lift to reach the last floor.

Meanwhile, as they waited the Lieutenant turned to Connor with a scowl on his face. "What the hell did you exactly say to make her cry? Because I know (Y/n). She's stronger than I am when it comes to tears and shit. So I want to know what exactly you said to break her while she was on the job?" He crossed his arms.

"I'm sorry Lieutenant, but that matter is not to discuss with you. This problem is between the Detective and me." Connor responded coldly.

"You know what? You don't have to tell me. But seriously, (Y/n) has been through hell and back. Don't treat her wrong. I know for sure that, that's in your program at least. Having a huge stick up your ass is definitely but being an absolute douche isn't. Okay?" The Lieutenant tried to make his point clear. Connor nodded trying his best not to listen to his words.

The lift dinged as the rustic doors pried open; letting the Lieutenant and Connor inside.

***

"Hey, Connor!" The Lieutenant called out. Connor opened his eyes to see the lift had come to a stop and was waiting for him to get off to close the doors and return to the lobby. "You run out of batteries or what?"

"I'm sorry. I was making a report to Cyberlife." Connor apologized.

"Uh... Well, do you plan on staying in the elevator?" The Lieutenant sarcastically remarked.

"No! I'm coming." Connor answered eagerly.

QUESTION THE SUSPECT

He stepped out of the rickety lift and analyzed the entire hall. But the first thing he saw was the moping (Y/n) who was staring out the window down below at the ground.

"What do we know about this guy?"

"Not much. Just that a neighbor reported that he heard strange noises coming from this floor. Nobody's supposed to be living here, but the neighbor said he saw a woman hiding an LED under her cap."

(Y/n) quietly chuckled to herself before she spoke with an unstable voice. "If we have to investigate every time someone hears a strange noise, we're going to need more cops." She claimed not losing her eye contact out the window.

Connor started to feel- No! I can't feel anything! Not happiness, not sadness, not guilt. He argued with himself until the Lieutenant caught his attention.

"Hey, were you really makin' a report back there in the elevator? Just by closing your eyes?" He asked trying to lighten the atmosphere.

"Correct." Was all he answered with as he continued to check to the hall for any clues. Nothing but feathers and old metal selves normally found in garages.

"Shit... I wish I could do that..." The Lieutenant began to daydream of what it would be like.

Having searched the entire hall, Connor stepped up next to the Lieutenant and knocked on the door. Once he did so (Y/n) collected herself and gathered by the other two. After a minute or two of waiting for an answer, Connor looked over to the Lieutenant. He shrugged and continued to stare at the android.

Once more he knocked a bit more aggressive. "Hello? Anybody home?" He called out still expecting an answer. "Open up! Detroit Police!"

Just then, a sudden noise came from inside the apartment. The Lieutenant grabbed his gun as did (Y/n). "Stay behind me, both of you." The Lieutenant backed up getting ready to break the door.

"Wait, Hank!" She pushed him aside and prepared herself to kick down the door herself. With ease, the old door came crumbling down. Still, in her stance, she proceeded to aim her firearm up until she quickly opened the door to check the room. The Lieutenant followed her and did the same to the other door.

"Clear." They both whispered. At the same time, they rammed into the last door. Feathery balls with wings and feet flooded the area.

"What the fuck is this?!" The Lieutenant spat trying to swat them out of his face.

"They're fucking Rock Pigeons!" She was doing the same as the Lieutenant.

Connor looked around the room to see the entire floor was decorated with birds.

INVESTIGATE THE APARTMENT

"Jesus this place stinks." The Lieutenant continued to complain.

"Hank, just such the fuck up and search for clues." (Y/n) growled out of frustration.

As the two argued Connor saw something out of the ordinary. A UFD poster that had recently been moved. "Uh, looks like we came for nothin', our man's gone." The Lieutenant dismissed. Once Connor had pulled the poster back he found a hole in the wall with a journal in it. He flipped through the pages to see scribbles of different symbols that he wasn't able to decrypt.

"Found something?" The Lieutenant questioned Connor as he put the book in his back pocket.

"I don't know. It looks like a notebook, but it's indecipherable." He simply responded.

Connor continued to search the main part of the apartment; the Lieutenant as well. Though the majority of the time it was of him accidentally kicking the pigeons or trying to shoo them out the dirty window. On the counter sat a box of bird seed.

"Well, at least we know why these fellas are here." Connor showed the Lieutenant the seed.

"Birdseed? I can't believe it. This nutjob was feeding these fuckers?" He said in response.

"I'm sorry to ruin your little tea party over there but I have something in here." (Y/n) snapped.

The Lieutenant and Connor made their way into the bathroom where she was standing. There were more feathers and mulch in the sink. But on the flat part of the bowl was a blue LED surrounded by little spurts of Blue Blood. (Y/n) went to grab it when Connor stopped her. "It's best you don't tamper with the evidence." He grabbed her wrist slightly trying to keep her out of trouble.

"Whatever, I showed you. That's all I needed to do here. I'll be waiting outside for you guys to finish up in here." She scoffed and stormed out of the room. The Lieutenant followed her out of the room but only into the main part to do further investigation.

As Connor analyzed the bathroom, he found the same relentless writing that he had seen during the Carlos Ortiz case. Ra9? What does it mean? Connor calculated the number of times the deviant had written it. "Ra9 was written 2,471 times. It's the same sign Ortiz's android wrote on the shower wall... Why are they obsessed with this sign?" Connor spoke loudly so the Lieutenant could hear.

"The symbols out here look like mazes or something." He shouted back.

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE WRITING

Connor looked down slightly to see a small wooden stool knocked over. Curious, he knelt next to the recently disturbed item and found a freshly opened marker. The color Midnight Moon to be exact. Connor stepped back as he prepared to reconstruct.

The suspect had been there recently but then ran into the living room. From there it went for the entrance until he heard (Y/n), Lieutenant, and Connor enter. It scrambled to it's feet, jumped onto the armchair, and hoist itself into the attic. The suspect is still here.

EXPOSE SUSPECT

He walked over to the armchair and stared up into the gaping hole in the roof. After a bit, the deviant dropped down onto Connor and scattering the birds; blinding the Lieutenant. It squandered to regain it's composer and dashed out the front door.

"What are you waiting for?! Chase it!" The Lieutenant demanded in a hurried tone.

Connor turned away and sprinted after the speeding deviant. Once he reached the hallway, Connor saw (Y/n) also running after it. Determination heavy in her step. But not wanting to take the chance of losing sight of the deviant again he outran her. Jumping off the building into t a wheat field; quick on it's tail.

He pulled himself up the brick wall with ease and continued the hunt for the android on the run. One obstacle after another, but it was never a bother to Connor. Nearly grabbing the android, he was directed into a crowded greenhouse where multiple people were standing in the way. But Connor kept trucking onward. The deviant wasn't ignorant though. As soon as they reached a giant loading door they quickly closed it; cutting Connor off and having to redirect his route.

Rapidly, he ran through a field of lavenders and WR600 models. Pulling himself up and over yet another wall. He slid down a glass roof. Eventually landing on a fast-moving train where the deviant continued to wait until it was able to lung for a metal latter. Connor had done the same keeping the same speed as the other android.

"Holy shit!" The Lieutenant exclaimed while he watched the whole scene.

Connor trucked on through another busy greenhouse. The deviant tossed metal carts behind him to block the path due to the narrow passageway. That didn't stop him though. Connor had leaped over the flower beds and avoided the carts and still managed to keep up with it.

Finally gaining ground, Connor flew through the cornfield blindly until he came to a clearing. But once he was able to see again he saw the deviant struggling with (Y/n) and tossed her over the side of the high up building. Finally came the time to choose for Connor. Follow my directive or save (Y/n('s life? What am I to choose?!

A/N: Heyo! Was that more action-packed than the last chapter? I would hope so. That was what I was aiming for. Anyways, yes I left you with one hell of a cliffhanger. But it will literally be addressed in the beginning of the next chapter. I won't keep you waiting for too long. Until next Monday... Chow ^_~
