Working on some new covers...

What do you guys think?

Oh yeah and I updated...That's probably more important right?

Thirteen's POV

I spread out the blueprints out across the table in my conference room, Megan standing across from me taking notes on her clipboard.

I called her early and invited her over so I could get this done and over with faster...especially since Ryder's off entertaining himself with who knows what right now.

"I'm thinking we could knock out this wall here," I point to the blueprints. "It would open up the lobby a lot more and allow the entrance way to be enlarged. There needs to be more offices on these floors," I point to the next set of blueprints. "And I'm thinking the wiring for the electricity will have to be redone on the top floor."

Megan writes down everything I say on her clipboard, her pen flying over the piece of paper.

"And your office? Do you want it the same in building eight as the one here?"

"As close as possible," I reply my eyes scanning over the blueprints, my hands resting on the table. "I'd prefer it to be along the east wall, floor to ceiling windows along that wall only."

She nods. I pick up the stack of folders on the table.

"I've gone through the resumes," I hand her one pile and shove another across the table. "These are the ones to hire, and these are the ones to trash."

"And I take it you called Fred about the renovations."

"I did that last night," I reply, making some markings on the blueprints. I notice a shape move in the doorway and look up to see Ryder walk past.

"Hey give me a second, ok?"

Megan just nods and flips through the files in response. I run up and stand in the doorway.

"Ryder!" I call. He stops in his tracks and turns to look at me before walking back over.

"In my defense, I only gave him the idea. I didn't actually participate in the final result." He holds his hands up in surrender and I narrow my eyes at him.

"What?"

"It's Devin's fault ok? I had no part in it...actually, that's not true, it's mostly my fault." He gives me a smirk that tells me, whatever he did, he's not sorry. "But Devin did help. I really like that guy."

"What are you talking about?" I cross my arms over my chest and glare at him. I feel like a parent scolding a child. "What did you do?"

"So you haven't seen the pool?"

"What did you do to the pool?"

"Well since you haven't seen it...nothing, nothing at all."

I run a hand over my face in frustration while Ryder grins at me, giving me a look that clearly says how innocent he really is.

"So..." He trails off, sticking his hands in his pockets and rocking back and forth on his heels. "What'd you need?"

I gesture with my hand for him to follow me as I walk through the conference room and into the adjoining office. I pick up the medium box on my desk and hold it out to him.

"What is all that crap?"

I give him a flat look.

"Sorry, you're right that was insensitive."

"Ya think?" I retort.

"What is all that shit?"

I glare at him and he just grins wickedly back at me, his eyes alight with mischief. I shove the box into his hands and he looks in it again, opening his mouth to make another remark but his mouth snaps shut as he stares at the contents.

He lets out a shaky sigh and balances the box on one arm, pulling a necklace out of the box with his free hand.

"Oh." He says simply as the necklace dances across his view. He's silently staring at it with sad eyes before placing it back in the box and turning back towards me.

He clears his throat and runs his hand through his hair. "What'd you want me to do with this?" He asks his tone of voice soft and defeated. His eyes glazed over with unshed tears that he's trying desperately to hide.

We really are too much alike.

"I've combed through it a million times over." I shove my hands deep into my jean pockets. "But...I think I'm still looking at it as an agent, and not as her friend. I wanted you to look through it and find what I'm blind to. I knew her very well, but not nearly as well as you did."

He gives me a small pain-filled smile. "I guess that's true." He lets out another shaky sigh.

"She took videos and pictures and...she basically documented our entire time together. If anyone had something, anything that could help us against Garrett, it would've been Fifty-seven."

"Lily." He corrects me, still staring into the box. "I'll see what I can find." He turns to walk away.

"And Ryder," He turns back to me. "Ask the boys for help. You might have known her really well but they didn't at all. Just in case you look over something that shouldn't be overlooked." He nods. "She'd be proud of you," I add quietly.

"She'd be pissed off with you." He replies, letting out a light laugh. I smile slightly.

"Can't please everyone." I shake my head. "Could you do me a favor and send Chase down? I need to talk to him."

"Sure thing."

"And Ryder," He looks up from the box to me, I clear my throat. "You can keep all of it." He looks surprised at my words but before he can question it I continue. "I have no use for any of it and besides, she was your little sister, not mine."

"She considered you a sister." He says softly and  I turn away. He stays standing in front of me for another moment before turning and walking off. I hear his footsteps thudding up the stairs.

I duck back into the conference room and Megan immediately begins talking about several of the new changes she's made and the money that the company's expected to bring in this year.

I'm barely listening.

She makes a comment about wanting to look at the finances being spent on building eight so I tell her they're on my desk. She disappears into the office just as Chase walks in through the door.

I look up at him from the papers I was staring blankly at a moment before.

"Ryder said you wanted to see me." He says, taking a seat next to me. I maneuver the blueprints in front of him

"I wanted a second opinion on the blueprints for the new building. It's mostly completed but there's still a few revisions to be done."

He gives me a blank look as if he's having the hardest time trying to figure out why I wanted him to look over the blueprints.

Two reasons Chase, two reasons.

"What?" He finally says. Still giving the same look.

Reason #1.

"Your father works in construction does he not?" I question slowly as if he's mentally challenged. He glares at me.

"Why-no-How could you possibly know that?"

I lean closer to him. "I know everything." I sit back in the seat and push the papers closer to him. "Remember that."

I point to the markings I've made on the prints and his gaze follows my fingers. "I wanted to knock out this wall to open up the lobby a little more."

Chase maneuvers the papers in front of him and looks closely at them. His face serious and focused as he reads off the markings I made.

Henri walks in through the door and I shoot him a small smile of thanks as he places three glasses of water on the table before departing again, leaving us to work.

Chase grabs one of the glasses and begins drinking it. I hear the door to the office open once more and there's a gasp, followed quickly by the sound of a stack of papers hitting the floor.

Reason #2 just arrived.

I don't bother turning around towards Megan, but Chase does. As soon as his eyes land on her spits out his water and begins choking. I slap my hand on his back a couple times before turning away from him, hiding my smile.

"So...the wall?" I question him, looking at him innocently like I have no idea what's going on.

He turns back towards me and shakes his head as if trying to forget what just happened. Megan leans down and begins to pick up all the papers that have scattered across the floor.

"Uh, yeah. You should be able to knock out that wall provided it's not a support wall that is." He scratches the back of his head nervously, shooting a glance at Megan. I pretend not to notice.

"It's not," I reply before grabbing one of the other sets of blueprints. "I want to put my office along the east wall here." I point. "With floor to ceiling windows."

He looks over it but his eyes keep sneaking glances over to Megan, who's finished gathering up the papers and has put them in a neat stack next to me.

"You'd probably be better putting it along this wall." He points the blueprints. "You wouldn't get as much sun that way."

"The east wall provides a better view of the street and city below." I counter.

He shakes his head. "You're looking at this like an-" He stops himself from saying the last word as he eyes Megan, who's gotten rather quiet listening to us.

"As a what, Chase?" I press, daring him to continue.

He takes a deep breath before meeting my eyes finally. "As a paranoid Agent," he growls at me and I raise an eyebrow at him.

"I'm sorry what was that?" I question a smirk on my face. He throws the pencil in his hands at me and I duck as it soars over my head.

"What's the point?" He growls out. "You clearly already know."

I give him a knowing grin. "I can assure you that I haven't the slightest idea as to what you are referring to."

He stands up quickly from his seat, the chair flying backward into the wall from the force. He glares harshly at me as he towers over me. I grab one of the glasses of water and casually sip on it.

"You know what I find most interesting about all you?" I ask him and when he makes no move to answer I continue. "Each one of you has a secret. A secret that not even the rest of your team knows. Luckily for me, I happen to know all of them."

"Good for you." He growls.

I glance over at Megan calmly before looking back over at him.

"I can't help but wonder as to why the rest of the boys don't know about your fiancé." I gesture to Megan with my free hand. The glare I'm receiving is deadly.

"Such a happy coincidence that she happens to work for me." His glare gets even deadlier. "I can only hope that they'd be invited to the wedding."

He slams his hands down on the table in front of me and I stare defiantly back at him.

"You're not supposed to know." He grumbles dejectedly, running a hand through his hair.

"As I said before...I know everything." My phone begins blaring to life in my pocket. I glance at the caller ID. "Well you two clearly need to talk," I say, standing to my feet and pointing between the two of them. "And I have a phone call to take."

I walk out of the room leaving them to talk, I answer the phone and press it up to my ear.

"Hey, it's Hayden." I hear his voice on the other end.

"No really I thought it was someone else cause I totally don't have your number saved into my phone or anything," I reply sarcastically. I can picture him rolling his eyes. "What did you need?"

I hear shuffling on the other end. "I wanted to talk to Cody. He called and told me he was staying with you."

"Yeah, he is. Is he not answering his phone?"

"No, I uh...wanted to talk to him personally." It's silent for a moment. "Do you mind opening up the gate?"

I walk over towards the front door, the controls to open the gate right next to it. "You're here?" I ask as I begin punching in the code, not bothering to check the security cameras cause it's just Hayden.

"Yeah." He replies simply.

"Coming to talk some sense into your idiot brother?" I question teasingly as I press enter, allowing the gate to be opened.

"Something like that." He laughs but it sounds strained, forced almost. "See you in like a minute or less."

"Don't go racing up my driveway." I scold him. "Bye." I hang up and wait by the door, leaning back against the wall.

I hear the knock and open the door. Immediately my muscles tense on their own accord, my hand instinctively going to where my dagger would be, only for me to remember that I left it in my room.

"You're not here to see Cody,"I state, my eyes narrowing suspiciously at the familiar uniform he's wearing, I notice another couple cars parked behind his. I really should've checked the cameras.

"No." He responds simply. I watch as Lydia gets out of the car behind him, wearing the same uniform as his. I'm screwed.

"This can go one of two ways." He starts, taking a step closer to me.

I let out a resigned sigh. "Don't you know me, Hayden?" My grip on the door handle tightens. "There's only one way with me." I slam the door into his face with as much force as I can, satisfied when I hear his curses of pain.

Unfortunately, he was smart enough to wedge his foot in the doorway, effectively keeping the door from closing.

My fingers begin rapidly typing in a code on the keypad next to me, but before I press the enter button, my hair is grabbed from behind me. I curse and swing my leg back, kicking him in the shins, until his hands finally loosen an I lunge forwards, my hand slamming down on the button.

The alarm blares and suddenly all the doors begin to swing shut on their own accord, each and every one of them locking shut. The lights all go out soon after and the alarm shuts off.

Lydia walks in through the still open front door, the only door that didn't close cause Hayden held it open. She glares at me and I give her a cold and blank look.

Her jaw clenches in irritation because she knows exactly what I did. I initiated the lockdown and she's pissed...I'm so screwed.

I separated her from everyone else in this house. She can't touch them, and she knows it. She has no leverage to try and use against me.

Only one problem...I'm stuck outside all the rooms...with her, the only person in the world that can beat me in a fight, the only person in the world that could kill me if she really wanted to. Formerly known as Agent 6.

Lydia Kingston, my older sister.

Go ahead tell me how evil I am.
