Over the course of the next couple of days, Rainy had resided in his guest bedroom. The first night he had let her sleep in his room, but he didn't dare to hold her. In fact he had slept facing away from the broken girl the entire time, and by the time it reached morning, he had left. That continued on for the rest of the weekend. She was more than baffled, she didn't know where he disappeared to during the day but the only times she saw him were at dinner and even then he ate quick and didn't bother with full conversation.

She wasn't sure why she hadn't gone home but he also hadn't asked her to leave either.

She liked the company.

Well that, and the thought of having to tell her best friend everything made her want to be sick.

Silver was a difficult man to read, she couldn't grasp the type of person he was. He refused to comfort her, despite opening his home up for her, providing her with his clothes and buying the necessities she needed. He even made sure to leave her a morning coffee every morning without fail before leaving for work.

That was what she was currently staring at. Standing in one of his old shirts, her uncombed curls were down her back, still wet from her shower and her puffy morning eyes assessed the contents of the mug.

A cup of coffee like she had expected, though, the only thing different was the small note left behind.

Having had the time to sit back and think about everything had helped Rainy tremendously, she was starting to feel somewhat normal again. Picking up the note, she held it between her fingers and squinted trying to make sense of the messy scribble.

What was with teachers and having the worst handwriting?

'Morning,

Since you have decided to make yourself at home, I thought you'd be happy to hear that it's takeout night. No need to set the table, dinner will be in the living room. Choose a movie you want to watch, we'll rent it out.

If you think just because you cried I'm going to let you off with missing college, think again. I'm giving you one more day before I force you back myself.

β€” Silver.'

Rainy pursed her lips, unsure of what to make of the note. It was short, straight to the point, and instructive. It was Silvester Rivera in a note.

Did that even make sense?

When she flipped the note over, the corners of her full lips pulled upwards.

'PS,

I'm not getting you any hair dye, so don't even think about wanting to change your hair. I like it how it is.'

She placed the note back down onto the counter, reaching for the warm cup.

It was every girl's way of getting through a breakup, to change their hair colour. So when Rainy had asked if he could pick some up after work the night before, he was busy working on his laptop when she came in. He merely glanced at her, and said nothing.

She assumed he was far too occupied to take what she had said in.

He liked her hair?

For some reason, that made her smile. Her curls were something she had an on and off relationship with, they were usually the first thing people noticed about her before she smiled and her dimples took over. Her big, tight black curls didn't allow her much experimentation with hair styling, she could either leave them out or up in one of her messy buns. And when she did her signature up do, it required many hair ties and a lot of patience.

Straightening her hair happened whenever she felt like it, but she knew too much heat would destroy her curl pattern so she could do nothing but leave it alone.

Silver liked her curls.

Her hand subconsciously touched her unruly locks, and she thought about how the barely there compliment was enough to change her mind about needing to switch up her hair.

It wasn't long after, that Rainy settled into her little routine; she made breakfast, ate. Tried to attempt to catch up on school work; failed miserably. Ultimately, that led to her giving up, and because she had wasted so much time, it was already time for lunch and she was watching tv whilst scrolling through her phone online shopping.

She needed the tv on as background noise.

She sat there for hours, by the time it had rolled around to half eight she was deeply invested in the crime series that was on, her phone being disregarded somewhere beneath the mountain of sofa cushions.

Rainy hadn't heard the door open; she didn't need to hear it open to know he was home. The smell of the delicious Chinese cuisine coasted around the house, and she shot up from her lazy position reclining upright.

"It's about time four eyes, I'm starving."

Silver walked in holding the plastic bags in his hands, and placed them down onto the glass table. He had on a black work shirt with the sleeves rolled up and top few buttons undone, slacks and his black reading glasses. Strands of curly hair fell on his forehead, and his five o'clock shadow looked outgrown. His intense brown eyes made their way onto to her, and he rolled them when he noticed the look on her face.

"It's rude of you to make fun of my inability to see." He uttered, making her laugh softly and reach over to look through the bags. She grabbed a plastic fork, and opened the first container to find some chicken chow mein noodles.

"Oh god, this was well worth the wait." Rainy groaned, shoving the food in her mouth.

Moving to sit besides her, he nodded towards the television. "So did you find something to watch?"

She nodded, and flicked the channel to show him. They fell into a comfortable silence as the movie started to play and they ate their food silently. They didn't bother to talk about each other's day, immersed in devouring the food.

Once they had finished, empty containers were scattered at the table. The movie still on, but Rainy couldn't focus with all the goosebumps appearing on her arms and legs.

She peeked over at Silver who had untucked his shirt, and laid out on the opposite end of the couch. He'd taken a blanket out from the side and draped it over him as he watched the screen.

She hesitated for a few seconds. "Do you have another blanket?" Her voice was sweet, and subtle.

He tore his attention away for a brief second to glance at her, spotting her shivering slightly. His eyes darting from her bare legs, and back up to her chest where he could see the hardness of her nipples pressing against the white shirt she had on. She had most of the buttons undone meaning her soft supple tanned skin was on show.

With an amused grin, he shook his head. "No."

She dropped her shoulders with a sigh, and pushed her body back into the cushions for warmth.

He could visibly see how cold she was.

He let out a low snicker at her change in demeanour, and cleared his throat. "I've seen your asshole and yet you're too shy to ask if we can share a blanket? Come here." He said, opening up the blanket.

Rainy didn't question his gesture, she hadn't asked to share the blanket in case it would bother him but since he was offering, who was she to say no.

Crawling over to him, she found herself picking up the blanket and moving under it. She turned her body so that her back was pressed against his chest, and situated her bottom for it to be resting above his crotch. They were both facing the television and she could feel the warmth radiating from his body. He pulled the blanket over them, wrapping his arm around her from underneath.

Silver's breath tickled the back of her neck, but she didn't think much of it as they watched the rest of the movie.

"I'd so be able to do that." She voiced, although it appeared her confidence didn't last long. The current scene was so gruesome, she let out a sudden gasp and shoved her head into the blanket. "Never mind, tell me when it's finished."

"Why would you put on a movie you're too scared to watch?"

Rainy grumbled. "I'm not scared, I'm scarred there's big a difference. I like horror movies, just not when the main character is slicing his own eyeball out."

Another scream erupted throughout the room.

She pulled her face out and huffed blowing her hair out of her face. Turning her head to look over at him, she scrunched her nose up. "I don't want to watch it anymore, it's boring."

Silver rolled his eyes at the childish response, "Sure, it has nothing to do with you not wanting to have nightmares."

That's exactly what it was, but he didn't need to know that.

He reached over her head to grab the remote, and changed the channel. Rainy sighed in relief, and moved back to her original position. The cooking show with the fancy Italian chef that had been advertised everywhere was on, and she groaned in frustration.

"Have you spoken to Elijah yet?" Silver questioned, he focused on the side of her face and could feel the way she shifted at the mention of his name.

"No, why has he said something to you?"

Her curious tone caused the tension between the two to change. A noise sounded from his throat while he went motionless.

"I think you two should talk in person, there's a lot that needs to be said."

Unsure of what he meant, she didn't push on it and relaxed further into his hold. "I don't want to talk about this right now."

He could see their clear difference in age from the way she had reacted to the simple suggestion. He gritted his teeth to stop himself from saying too much, and sighed again.

"Rainy." He tried, but she shook her head.

"I said I don't want to talk about it Silver, so drop it."

His nostrils flared at her tone, but he obeyed begrudgingly, tightening his grip around her.

She cocked her head to the side again, the uncomfortable silence driving her crazy and she could sense that he was trying to keep calm.

"Thank you."

The glasses perched on his nose dropped slightly when he found her staring at him. "For what?" His voice laden with emotion, he was still annoyed that she had snapped at him.

They were both equally as stubborn.

Rainy's eyes danced with merriment, she flipped around so that she was facing him. Looking at him through her lashes, she rested her hands on his buff chest.

"For being there. I know I'm a lot, mentally and emotionally. I know I am, so thank you."

His large hand reached between them, he encircled her hand with his, making shivers ran down her spine. "I had no other choice, I'm the local sex therapist it seems."

She grinned widely, strings of hushed laughter trailing off, "Well, I mean that's not a bad title to have."

Silver didn't laugh.

The serious expression on his face had her laughing harder, and she looked up at him with heavy eyelids. "Do I have something on my face?" She teased, seeing the crease between his eyebrows. She felt him let go of their entwined hands, and his rough hand found her cheek. Her head tilted, lips parted waiting for his to meet them. Their lips met in a sweet kiss, it was brief but enough to leave her speechless.

Rainy pulled away with a wide smile, nuzzling against the palm of his hand.

He didn't laugh because he was mesmerised by her beauty, his mind was in turmoil.

It was all making sense, his loss for words, the strange emotion he had been feeling, his inability to get her smile out of his mind.

He had never felt this way before, and he didn't like it one bit. But when he looked at her, he knew exactly what he was feeling.

"Cazzo."
