Aden
The whole class busts out into laughter after hearing Ms. Charter's remark. I'm too stunned to do anything. I'm still staring wide eyed at April. Her head is down and she focusing intensely on a spot on her desk.

I replay what just happened in my head and still can't believe it happened. Did April freaking Robinson just kiss me?

This can't be real I have to be dreaming. Now way April just kissed me. Even if it was just a quick peck on the cheek April would never do that, would she?

"April and Aden siting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G" Some annoyingly immature girl sings behind us. There more laughter and suddenly it all sinks in.

April Robinson just kissed me in a classroom full of people who hate my guts. I turn away from her my face turning an embarrassing shade of red.

"Alright alright, quiet down class. We still have a few more minutes of class so let's refocus." Ms. Carter says.

April and I both stay quite for the rest of the class. Our list isn't long but I doubt either of us want to talk about it right now. The bell rings and April jumps out of her seat. She looks back at me for the first time since the kiss.

"Sorry." April says before turning and jetting out of the class.

Once again I'm too stunned to say or do anything. I watch her leave. All I can think about is the look or regret and shame in her eyes. Something dark bubbles up inside of me. I didn't ask her to kiss me. She's not the one who they were laughing at and she's not the one that has to deal with her brothers once they find out.

Oh sh!t, her brothers! They're going to kill me when they found out. I'm not the one who made the move but I'm sure they won't see it that way when they find out. Keith had made it very clear that I was not suppose to get too close to his sister.

I close my eyes and sigh. I'm basically a dead man at this point. One on one I was actually pretty capable of handling myself in a fight. I wasn't great but I didn't give up until I got a few licks in. The problem with the Robinson brothers was that they rarely ever fought alone.

I pick my backpack up and try to think of the best way to handle the situation before it gets too out of hand.

I'm not even two steps out of the door before someone wraps an arm around my shoulder. I turn to the side to see Erick smiling down at me.

"Hey buddy, why don't you come take a walk with me and we can have ourselves a little chat." Erick said.

"Um, okay."

I take the first two step forward with him but then quickly spin out of his arms and start running the other way. When all else fails, running is still considered a respectable means of survival.

I look back to see if I'm being chased. Distracted my body collides with someone else's. Papers go flying everywhere and I land on top of something soft.

"Ouch." A voice groans up under me. I pull back to see a girl with green hair and black lip stick laying up under me.

"I'm sorry." I say.

"Really, than you please stop touching my boob and get off of me."  The girl says.

I look down at my hand and see that it is in fact on her breast. I jerk away from her as if she burnt me.

The girl pushes herself up rubbing at her elbow.

"I'm sorry. Did I hurt you." I ask.

"Naw, it's good. I've taken worse than this."  She lets go of her arm and shift onto her knees. She starts to pick up the fallen papers. I reach down to try and help her. I hand over the pile I gathered.

She looks back and smiles. "Thanks."

"Looks like April wasn't enough. You had to go messing with another girl." Erick say coming up behind me.

I stand up backing away from him.

"Oh fvck off, Erick it was an accident." The girl says standing up behind me.

"Oh so you're standing up for him now too, Regina."  Erick say looking at the girl behind me. I think it's safe to say they know each other. Although Regina doesn't seem to pleased to see to see him.

"I'm not. I just don't have time for your macho jock bullsh!t. I know you're trying so hard to meet your stereotype quota for the day, but seriously Erick go fvck yourself."  Regina say.

My jaw drops as I stare at her with wide eyes. I don't know how she talks to him like that but with that one statement she officially just became on of the few people I consider likable.

Erick glared back at her. "You know your lucky your Nat's sister other wise no one would put up with your b!tch attitude."

"Oh Erick Walker doesn't think I'm one of the cool kids, tragic" Regina says rolling her eyes.

"Watch it." Erick warned his hands balled up into fist. I reflexively took a step in front of Regina. I'd been on the receiving end of those fist and knew how much damage the could cause.

"Oh what are you going to do, Erick? Hit me? I'm sure both Natalie and your coach would love to hear about you beating up girls." Regina said stepping up behind me.

I stare at her and I can't decided if she brave or just crazy.

Erick step forward but one of his friends grab him and pulls him back. "Come on Erick you know how Natalie is about her sister." The friend says.

Both he and the friend turn and leave. I turn back to Regina. She's still glaring at Erick's back.

"Thanks." I say.

Regina looks back at me and shrugs. "Erick's a fvckboy and pissing off fvck boys is my specialty."

I smile. Yup, I'm definitely going to like this girl.

"I'm Aden by the way."

"Yeah, I know who you are. Nice to meet you Aden Harris." Regina said sticking out her hand. I took it and shook. She had a surprisingly firm grip.

"Nice to meet you too."

"You heading to lunch? I'm meeting my brother up if you want to join?"

"Um, yeah, sure." I say. This is the first time anyone's asked me to have lunch with them. I always ate by myself.

I followed Regina down the hall. I caught a glimpse of the guys in Jamal's crew. He was dressed in all black and his arms were covered in tattoos. He slid his finger across his neck and smiled at me. I was not out of the wood yet.
