April

The bell rang and Aden and I both stood up from our desk. It had been a pretty uneventful biology class, which knowing Ms. Carter was probably a good thing. I moved to grab my books but again Aden swooped in before me.

I stared at Aden as he held on to both our books.

"You know I can carry that." I said.

"I know."

Aden made no attempt to hand me my books back. It shouldn't have been weird to have him carry my books. Guys in romance novels do it all the time, but things like that were the kinds of things that I wasn't use too.

Aden was the first guy to ever like-like me. It was one thing to want a guy to be interested in you, it was another to have it actually happen.

"We should get going. Regina said she'd save us a seat." Aden said.

"Alright."

We walked down the hall together. When we got to the lunch room I didn't even bother looking over at my brother's table. Jamal would probably be there and I was still trying to ignore him.

I saw Regina and Dashawn siting at one of the back tables. We made our way over to them. They both greeted us.

"So what been going on with you guys?" I asked.

"Gina, pissed because she got put in the tutoring program." Dashawn said.

Regina punched her brother in the arm. "Tell the whole world big mouth."

"What class?" Aden asked.

" Freaking geometry." Regina said looking annoyed.

I knew how she felt. Nothing was more annoying then a class you just couldn't understand no matter how much you tried.

"Do you need help?" Aden asked.

"It's too late for that. I tried to offer the same thing but little miss hard as nails refused help even from me. Now she has to go threw the schools tutoring program and they get to pick who her tutor is." Dashawn said.

I understood why Regina refused help from her brother. It was embarrassing to have to go to your smarter sibling just because you couldn't understand something they probably thought was easy. It was probably worse for Regina because Dashawn was younger than her.

"Maybe it won't be that bad. I hear they've got really good tutors for the program. Keith sometimes tutors in order to make up for the class hours he misses." I say trying to cheer her up.

"Keith is a tutor?" Regina asked with an arched brow.

"Yup he tries to hide it but he's actually a math wiz. That type of stuff just clicks for him. If you ask him that's the reason he's not in class so often. He says it's so easy it's boring."

"No offense April but I'd sooner stab my eye with this fork then be tutored by your brother."

I couldn't really take much offense to that. I knew Regina didn't like my brother or pretty much anyone on the football team.

"It probably won't be him. As long as he stays out of trouble he won't have to tutor. The point is he tells me they're really good at helping students catch up. The tutoring program is one of the few nice things about this broke school." I say.

Regina sighed. "I guess I'll find out about it when I go, but that's enough about me. How are you two doing?" Regina said looking at me and Aden.

"We're good." I said looking over at Aden. He looked back at me and smiled.

"Yeah, we're real good." Aden said without taking his eyes off of me.

I felt a tingle run down my bell. He had that look in his eyes again. I never know what to do when he looks at me like that.

Regina cleared her throat. I looked away from Aden, feeling my face heat up. It's not like we'd done anything but I couldn't help but fell embarrassed.

"Save it for the bedroom you too. We are still in public you know." Regina commented.

I swallowed back my nerves and pushed my hair behind my ear. When I looked up at Regina I could see a smirk on her face.

I cleared my throat and tried to sit up straighter. I needed something to take the attention off of me.

"Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. I wanted to text you but then I realized I didn't have your number." I said.

"My phone broke when I, uh, fell." The slight pause before fell made it sound like a lie, " If you want to talk to me you're going to have to text Dashawn."

I stared at Regina. There was definitely more to that story, but she clearly didn't want to share.

"Um, okay. Do you know when your going to get a new one?" I asked.

Regina shrugged. "Whenever my mom remembers to care."

I wanted to ask more but didn't know how.

We ate lunch and continued to talk about other unimportant things. Dashawn and Aden started to talk about another video game. When the conversation turned back to call of duty I was happy because that was something I actually knew about.

The bell rang and I waved goodbye to Regina and Dashawn. Aden and I walked together down the hallway. We reach my class and I turn back to face him.

"So I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" I say trying not to sound too disappointed.

"Or you'll see me once you get home."

I give Aden a confused look and he laughs.

"I'm coming over to work on the robot with your brother." Aden said.

"Oh, that. You don't have to. I've decided that I'm done dealing with Jamal's bull so you really don't have to  if you don't  have to."

"I know but I want to. It'll be fun."

I stare at Aden and wonder who stole his body and replaced him because the Aden I know would never mix words like fun  with my brothers name in the same sentence.

Aden smiles at me. "What don't want me to come over your house?" He asked.

"I,uh, no, I want you there I just-"

"Great, then you can ride back with me."

"Um, okay."

Aden looked like he was about to leave but then  something over my shoulder caught his attention. I was just about turn around to see what it was when Aden stopped me.

Aden placed his hand on my cheek and turned my head so that I was staring into his green eyes.  They were darker than before. Tempting with a sense of danger. It was a look so unlike usual Aden but I knew it was him. It was the same look I'd seen before but he wasn't holding back now.

A shiver rand down to my core and my heart pounded. I was a dear caught in the head lights and could barely even think as he lowered toward me.

His lips touched mine.

At first it was a soft meeting of skin against skin. Sweet and innocent just like I'd imagined, but then he pressed closer to me. His lips claimed mine for his own. They were warm and hot against mine.

In less then a second it became clear who dominated the kiss. Everything about the way he moved against me was hungry and possessive. Aden was in control and my body ached with a heat I'd never known.

My mind was blanks as fire work shot off inside my body. I couldn't  believe that he was kissing me. More importantly I couldn't believe that kissing could ever feel this...

I can't even put it in words.

My body responded before my brain did. My lids drifted close and I leaned into him, silently asking for more.

Aden tongue licked my bottom lip and an uncontrollable moan escaped my mouth.

Aden drew back. I opened my eyes to see him staring down at me. There was still that hunger inside of his eyes but he was holding back now.

I stared at him. The kiss had only been for a few seconds and it had only been a simple kiss but it didn't feel that way. It felt like my whole world had been sent spinning of its axis.

I still couldn't believe that it had happened.

Aden eyes left mine as he looked back over my shoulder.

Aden smiled. "Jamal? I didn't see you there, buddy."

I turned around to see my older brother standing behind me. He looked angry enough to breath fire. His eyes were locked on Aden looking like he was coming up with at least a hundred ways to butcher and kill Aden.

"See you later April." Aden said sounding unfazed.

Aden smiled at me and continued down the hall to his class. He stopped next to Jamal.

"See you after school. Can't wait to work with you and move past our differences, especially since we both care so much about April. We should really all try to get along." Aden said patting Jamal on the shoulder.

Jamal turned to him and smiled. "Absolutely, friend,...can't wait."

Although there words were friendly their body language was similar to two dogs ready to tear each other's heads off.
