Not an update. Sorry, ya'll- but I'm really really bored and really wanted to write something.

Yeah. I have a writer's block. So I thought I'd give you guys a bit of info about the world I've created in my own head. Please don't call the mental institution.

Once again: I made all of this shit up. Don't take any of this shit for facts even for a second. Every word I'm writing past this one is utter bullshit.

HOW THE PACKS AND THEIR LAWS WORK:

What you can see in the picture above is all of the states in America- except Hawaii (all of the islands of and surrounding Hawaii are under the control of Alpha Nalani) but anyway, this is what states are under the control of what Alphas.

As you can see, Allen has control of the largest amount of square kilometers... however, who has the largest pack with regards to the population, I have no idea.

Anyways, that's how the alpha system in the US works- some Alphas have control over a specific area.

However, in the rest o the world, it's quite different. In Europe, the 'pack' is mostly decided with regards to the country, but of course, larger countries have more alphas. For example- France has 3 Alphas, and three major packs- and then they live in smaller groups within the packs.

In smaller countries, like Denmark and Norway, there's just one Alpha- although the alphas of Scandinavia all share laws, etc. this is because (like IRL history) it used to be one United country.

Each pack has its own laws and rules, although there are some that a few universal laws- but punishments for breaking the laws differ from pack to pack, for example:

Sexual assault is illegal in all packs, and depending on the pack, the punishments vary between 20 years of solitary confinement with chemical castration or immediate execution.

Also, there's a worldwide law that you're not allowed to charge money for life-or-death and deeply necessary medicine.

And by deeply necessary, I mean like, if you get chronic migraines and cannot function while having these migraines, it's illegal to charge you for the painkillers.

Also, all countries are under obligation to allow freedom of speech, religious freedom, sexual freedom, REPRODUCTIVE freedom (fuck off, forced birthers).

HOW THE PACKS WORK INTERNALLY:

We'll go with Allen's pack as an example. Obviously, the area he's got control over is way too large for ONE man to overview. And, as you know, there's Allen's 'main' beta, Josh. (Whom you've met)

However, in the smaller areas, usually one per state, there's another wolf in charge, who largely works as an 'Alpha' but obviously, Allen has the overall power. The 'state Alphas' can be replaced if needed, while the only one that can replace Allen is his firstborn child, and in the case of his death before he has children, his oldest younger sibling (in his case Lila) is to take control of the pack (although if he dies AND has a child who's just too young to take over the position -under the age of 16- his beta will take control until his child is of age to take care of the pack)

And, as mentioned, Allen's pack has some other rules than for example Alpha Zeena's pack. Allen is in a position of power in which he can make largely any law he wants, and approve any law he wants - this applies to all Alphas, which make new just a tad more terrifying for humans.

Although Allen is in complete control within his own pack, he has some specific deals with the pack nearest to him- for example, Alpha Zeena's (and others') approval was needed to go through with the major HSA overhaul. And therefore all alphas who agreed to this have to follow through with it. BUT it doesn't apply to all packs in the US- just those with which Allen has an agreement.

HOW THE ALPHA LINAGES WORK:

As you know, the oldest child of an Alpha is to take over either at age 20 or age 16 if the former Alpha died while their oldest was still just a child.

All Alphas must have at least one biological child by the time they're 35, and this has ALWAYS been the rule- for the past 1400 years that was, because there was a whole mess when gay alphas had no children and died, leaving their pack with no new Alpha.

Obviously, nowadays this is not a problem given that same sex couples can now make use of sperm diners and surrogate mothers, however... well it was a real pain in the ass 200 years ago. Or 40 years ago for that matter.

(And before you ask, yes, that meant that the gay Alpha would have to fuck someone other than their mate to get pregnant/ get them pregnant in order to have a child)

The only really acceptable reason that an Alpha would die without having had children is that they haven't met their mate or were very young.

BIOLOGY:

There is no directly traceable reason for lycanism. No one is exactly sure when werewolves first appeared, and how they happen- all we know is that werewolves share about 14% of their DNA with regular wolves, and it's a running joke between biologists that some lonely Neanthertal found a wolf gave and just went with it, knocking up one of the female wolves.

Anyways, besides the wolf thing, Lycans and homo Sapiens are the same- and yet...

First off, werewolves are hyper fertile. For example, if we take Allen and Paige: Paige would have to go on some hormonal birth control, but so would Allen, because otherwise, his sperm would still be able to impregnate her (unless she outright had her uterus removed), and also, the birth control Allen would have to take would make a regular human man infertile for the rest of his life if he took it. It's strong shit.

And also wolves heal very very fast- this is due to the massive amount of red blood cells, which they have so many of that their wound begins to heal within minutes of the injury being inflicted. This, unlike many other parts of lycans, is a trait you have all the way from birth- although the process is not quite as rapid with lycan children, they still heal wounds much faster than human children- this is to assure the survival of the lycan species.

The first shift, in which werewolves transform to what looks like an oversized wolf, happens around age 16- although, in a situation where their life has been threatened, wolves as young as 13 have been known to have their first shift, but in these cases, it's mostly a one-time thing, and they'll only be able to shift reguraly once they reach age 16. It is also only after their 16th birthday that wolves would be able to find their mates.

Young wolves will be very restless for the next few months after their first shift- this will wear off and vanish completely within a year of the first shift. In the first year, they will have a hard time controlling shits - especially if they get angry or afraid- and they will be very aggressive, and many also take a liking to red meat. But, surprisingly, young wolves only very rarely harm anyone. Although, wolves who meet their mates within this first year will calm down almost immediately- this is suspected to be for the safety of their mate.

Also, wolves have an easier time building muscle mass than humans, and due to the shifting burning a ton of calories, this makes it even easier for them to be muscular and 'lean'.

HISTORY:

Okay, sit down, this is gonna be a long ass ride.

The first 'known' accounts of werewolves date back from Neandertals. No one knows where the fuck they came from, or how they happened, but in this universe, we know they were there from cave paintings of creatures with human bodies and wolf heads or vice versa, and from that point, it seems that they lived peacefully along with the Neandertals and early homo sapiens.

Then at some point, somewhere between the bronze and iron age, some human has most likely developed a small grudge of some sort against the wolves (it's suspected that it was mainly men pissed off about the wolves mating with humans, and of course, due to their unconditional love, winning over the human women very fast) and attacked them at such a rate that the wolves had to go into hiding in secluded areas.

Then they stayed hidden for the next few thousand years. Of course, wolves and humans would occasionally meet, and live nearby each other as the world population grew. There are not all that many sources regarding this time, due to a lack of official written language (at least one that you could translate) up until the middle ages.

At this point, people were pretty terrified because you know, plague, death lurking around every corner, diseases, plague, hunger, eclipses, plague... so yeah, whenever people came across werewolves, they'd be terrified- and naturally, they also killed humans for being 'werewolves'.

Anyways, according to written sources, in the 1100s, in a small village in France, there was a family with a bunch of children. Obviously, each of the kids grew up and were healthier than humans because... well werewolves don't die as easily. This of course already made the humans living nearby suspicious- I mean, who gives birth to 16 children in the 1100s and has all of them survive?!

Anyways, as mentioned, younger werewolves have a hard time controlling their shifts, and one day the oldest son of the family went into town, and when he was punched in the face by a local, he shifted and kind mutilated his face. Then the town realized what was going on and decided they had to get rid of these monsters... so a village of 167 people all ganged together and went and murdered a family of 18, most of which were small children.

After that incident, mating with humans became illegal up until the 1500s. Or well, it wasn't exactly illegal, but very very frowned upon, and it would cause concern and worry with every wolf in the area if it happened. Obviously, they had no control over who they were mated to, so there was a rule; if you were mated to a human, you had to kidnap that human so they wouldn't tell their family about the werewolves.

This is, but the way, where a good chunk of the stories about vampires come from- at this time, wolves avoided humans at all costs, meaning they were mostly active at night, sleeping during the day, and therefore experiences very little sunshine, making them very very pale. So when a wolf with a human mate came at the dead of night to snatch up their mate, the sight anyone who was there to see it was this: a muscular, large, pale figure, with lightning eyes and sharp teeth, strong enough to pick up their family member like a rag doll jumping out of the window and running into the night.

Anyways, it became legal, or rather accepted, to be mates with a human once again, and then the wolves stayed in hiding for the next few centuries, up until October 24th, 1945. The day the UN was founded, it was mutually decided by basically every Alpha in the world (who had basically always managed to sneak their way into positions of power, but had avoided telling anyone due to the fear of a revolution- let's say it this way, Marie Antoinette was a werewolf) that they'd reveal themselves. Which they did, and quickly became in charge of the entire fucking world.

So basically, Paige's great-great-grandparents were the last generation to live the majority of their life in a world where werewolves "didn't exist".

MYTHOLOGY:

The mythology is not all that relevant anymore and most wolves abandoned it around the early 1900s, and they only say 'oh goddess'... well, the same way that I, an atheist, say 'oh god', not because they believe in it, but because it's just a common saying/phrase. Anyways: here is the explanation for a religion I made up.

But, it is believed that many thousands of years ago, when the world was first created, there were five humans on the earth. Three women and two men. The most beautiful of the women, who was named Luna, because her smile shone as beautiful as the moonlight on clear nights, was very lonely. Due to her beauty, the two men were so stunned they found themselves incapable of even looking at her for more than 5 minutes, let alone talk to her.

She grew terribly lonely, the feeling only getting worse as she watched the two other women giving birth to beautiful children. And because Luna was one of the first women to ever exist, she grew very slowly- she hoped for the two other women's sons to grow up, and love her once they did, but they, like their fathers were unable to even talk to her.

After realizing that she would spend the rest of her terribly long life alone, she fled into the forest and sought out a nearby lake, desperate to end her life and misery, to join the stars in the sky- at least, when she was a star, people would appreciate her beauty instead of being stunned silent by it, and people talked so beautifully of the stars.

Just before he was about to walk into the water, a wolf crawled out of the shadows, staring at her. Wolves were considered the smartest of animals, and the wolf admired the beauty of the human. She smiled, and then went into the cold lake, breathing in the water, waiting to join the stars.

But the stars were unhappy. They has seen the loneliness and beauty of the girl, and thought such a beautiful lonely human deserved better than being watched only from afar for the rest of eternity. So they called for the sun and the moon. The sun was unhappy as well- it had heard the girl sing so wonderfully as it shone upon her, watched as her main of dark hair had reflected its light back to it. The moon was most unhappy of all; it had always adored the girl, who shared its name, loved the way she stayed up far into the night staring at it.

The sun, the moon, and the stars all wished to save the girl, but no human could hear their desperate call- only the animals, who were apart of nature, could hear them. The moon cried out to the wolf by the lake, telling it to save the girl.

The wold, also saddened by the loss of such beauty, immediately jumped into the lake and dragged her out by the nape of her neck, such as all wolves carried those they cared for.

When the girl awoke from her near-death, she moved her hand to the wolf bite on her neck and felt the blood there. She had wished so desperately to die, and dead people did not bleed. She cried for the entire night, and the next day, until the moon and stars once again shone their light upon her. For all of this time, the wolf has stayed by the girl's side, ready to save her if she were to try to join the stars once again.

Finally, the girl calmed herself and looked around herself, now for the first time seeing the wolf. She smiled and ran her hand through the fur. "At least, you dare look at me," she said, and got up from the ground, she began walking back to her home, and smiled wider as the wolf followed behind her, and told it that it could come along if it so wished. The wolf howled happily, and the girl let out a joyful laugh; the first laugh of many years and they went home.

The wolf did not sleep that night, it watched the girl all night, afraid that she would get up and walk to the lake once again. But she did not. The next day, while all of the men avoided her eyes, she went around doing her chores with a smile, singing to the sun. The wolf followed along, howling along to her song, and they did this all day.

Just as the night fell, the girl sat outside on the ground, the wolf's head in her lap, looking between the moon and the wolf. The girl smiled sadly, and spoke, "Oh, how I wish you were a human, and no animal such as you are- so we could speak long into the night, and I could hear you laugh," and then they went inside, and the girl went to sleep in her bed and the wolf by the fireplace in the middle of the house.

The moon had heard the words of the girl, and then blew the wind through the windows of the house, into the fur of the wolf, waking it up. The wolf awoke, curious as to why the moon once again wished to speak.

The moon asked the wolf if it was willing to give up its life as an animal and become a human, to speak with the girl and be with her. The wolf replied: "I am a free spirit, I cannot live without running through the forest, feeling the wind in my fur, but I swear to protect the girl,"

The moon, worried that the girl would once again return to her sadness without someone she talked to, came up with a desperate idea- if the wolf were to turn human, the moon would, in return, turn the man back into a wolf every time it was full. This, the wolf could agree to.

The next morning, when the first sunray hit the wolf, it was no longer a wolf, but a man. The girl awoke, for the first time in her life rendered silence but the beauty of another human being.

The wolf, now a man, smiled and told the girl of his agreement with the moon, and the girl yelled happily, her heart shining like the moon as a man talking to her for the first time.

Not many months went by, and the girl, Luna, now a woman, gave birth to a child, a son, who as he grew, also began turning into a wolf, like his father. And so did all of their children. They lived happily for many years, but as the years passed, the woman grew older, her dark hair becoming grey, but her beauty not fading even the slightest.

Finally, with the wolf-man by her side, she took her final breath, this time happily willing to join the stars. But the moon was not willing to give up her beautiful soul quite yet- it asked her if she wished to take its place, as the brightest light on the night sky, and Luna happily accepted.

And to this day, she's there, watching and taking care of each of her children, and for those deserving of it, finding them soul mates, to make sure that no one would ever endure the loneliness that nearly killed her.

(I just made up an entire legend as the base of a religion- I'm a badass)

Fun facts I made up:

1. The average age for a female werewolf to have their first child is 23,2 years old, and their average amount of children is 4,2

Whilst for humans, the average age to have their first kid is 28,7 and the average amount of children is 2,9

(These are the numbers for the US mind you)

2. About 1/500.000 children born to a lycan parent is human. This is of course, only if one of the parents, (in 9/10 cases the mother) is a human. These children were once frowned upon, usually because it was believed they could only be the result of adultery, but after the invention of DNA testing its become much more accepted- now, mostly only very old wolves have anything bad to say against these children.

3. Women have been able to become Alphas since 388 BC because the Alpha in charge of the pack in present-day Egypt had 23 children- all girls, and the Alpha was an only child, leaving only one option- for his oldest daughter to become the first official female Alpha.

A/N

So... I hope you found this interesting, I just wanted to give ya'll a bit of ... something.

I'm sorry that there's nothing more, but I'm working you-don't-know how hard on the next update, and I just really needed a break and to write something relaxing. And... I spent way too much time coming up with all this shit, and I didn't want it to go to waste.

Question for you: What's your favorite Netflix show?

Currently, mine is 'Big Mouth' because I relate waaaayyyyyyyyyy too much to it.

Fun fact about me: I just got a new job at a grocery store- 'Fakta'. I'm the cashier, and that does not work all that well with being terrified of talking
