I waited

And waited

And waited.

And after 20 minutes of complete silence, no werewolf barging in, ripping apart my dress while forcing me down on the bed, I finally felt safe enough to stand up.

I looked around the room. The massive bed with ruffled up sheets and duvets, a plasma tv mounted at the wall in front of the bed, the two doors on both sides of the TV, a double wooden door at the same wall as the headstand of the bed (my guess would be a closet) and of course ... the floor-to-ceiling windows like downstairs, the only difference being that now that I was an entire floor further up, and could now see even further.

My breath left my lungs at the beautiful view for a second, before my mind found me once again.

Focus, get out of here, do not die.

I eyed the first of the two doors suspiciously. I get it, he's rich and powerful, he probably has his own bathroom... but what the hell would the second room be for?

A various collection of images started filling my head, everything from the most awful torture rooms to a red room of pain. Oh dear, Grey sounded bad enough the way he is, no reason to add murderous werewolf to his list of imperfections.

I took a deep breath and headed to the door, disposing of my shoes on the way. Lord would know how he'd react if I made dents in the floor with the heels. I wrapped my hand around the simple modern door handle and pushed the door open.

The room was dark, but in here there were no curtains, so enough moonlight shone in so that I could clearly see a large desk with a luxurious office chair behind it, and large bookshelves along the walls of the room. More books.

I walked barefoot into the room, feeling along the wall to turn on the lights. I touched a pad that was not rough like the rest of the wall, and the light lit up slightly. When I brushed my fingers against it again, the lights dimmed, and when I stroked my hand upwards, it lit up again. Up means more light, down means less light, gotcha.

A warm breeze caressed my bare feet, making me look to the windows. I furrowed my brows, before noticing that one of the windows had a handle, and was creaking open out towards a balcony.

I looked over my shoulder towards the bedroom and bit my lip, before stepping forwards and walking out on the balcony.

Not bothering to check out the view that I had spent most of the evening ogling at, I headed straight for the glass fence around the balcony and bent my back to look down. Two pillars were holding op the balcony but the surface looked completely smooth, so that wasn't an option.

My eyes shifted to the pool on the terrace. I could jump down there if I reached it of course, but then again, there were just about a hundred werewolves just 20 meters away, so there would be no chance that they wouldn't hear the splash and check out what was going on by the pool.

One option left then.

My heart sunk in my chest. I'd most definitely die. Without a doubt. It'd probably be painful too, with blood and guts everywhere. Well, at least mom and dad wouldn't have to pay for a casket. All that'll be left of me would fit into a Tubberware container. Or something the same size, the Tubberware is the only fairly nice things my mom owns.

I walked back through the office and into the bedroom once again, taking in a deep breath. I went up to the door leading out to the hallway, pushing it open carefully to make sure it wouldn't creak.

I peaked my head out to the hallway, holding my breath. Okay, here goes nothing. I stepped out, still barefoot, and listened carefully to the sound of any footsteps, closing the door behind me when I heard none.

My footsteps sounded like gunshots every time my feet lightly tapped the floor in my half-running pace, my heart getting stuck in my throat when I heard light footsteps against the wooden floor around he corner of the hallway.

This is it, my life is over, he's gonna come up, find me in the hallway, and kill me. I closed my eyes, preparing for the pain to hit as steps halted in front of me. When no pain came I opened my eyes slowly to stand face to face with the maid who had welcomed us when we had arrived at the ball. She tilted her head to the side with a concerned look.

"Are you alright? You look a bit shaken up." she scanned me from bare toes to top.

I cleared my throat. "I uh... I had to use the bathroom and a maid showed me the way, but I got a little lost-" I tried to shrug nonchalantly. "-and I can't really find my way back downstairs, would you mind pointing me the way... miss?"

She smiled wryly, cocking her head to the side. "It's been quite a few years since I was a 'miss', miss," she gestured her arm the direction I had been walking down the hall. "Just walk down that hall and down the first flight of stairs, and then down the second, and from there you can just follow the sound of people talking,"

I nodded, almost running away from her and down the hall, down both the stairs, ending up in the hallway I had walked into when I had first entered the housed. My heart rate picked up at the sight of the front door, I'm almost free and safe, I'd just have to sneak out the door and into one of the limos.

I walked slowly, my heart growing with each step, basically running the last few feet up to the door, stopping when I was right in front of it.

Almost there, almost safe.

I ripped open the door just enough for me to slide out, closing it with a hard push. My heart filled with relief at the sight of the limos. I skipped the steps down from the front door and ran down the pathway, the palmes aligning it wrapped in string lights, tears of joy falling from my eyes as I reached the parking lot.

I walked up to the closest limo, pulling on the handle to the backseat door, and then the one to the front seat, both locked.

I continued pulling all the handles on every car, biting my teeth together when a small shard of glass pierced through the bottom of my foot. I fell down to the ground, clutching my foot. A wave of nausea hit me at the sight of the sliced up skin, blood dripping out, with gravel and dirt sprinkled around it. I carefully poked the glass just a tad, tears spilling down my cheeks at the pain.

I rested my head back against the limo, realizing what I had to do. I grabbed around the glass with the tips of my fingers, gritting my teeth together.

Suddenly I was thrown across the pavement, and my hand instinctively reached up to cover my pained side. Before I even had time to see what had hit me, something was pushing my head down to to the ground, tears springing to my eyes as the gravel pressed against my cheek.

"We got a runner over here, Alpha Khan," a cold voice spoke, the pressure on my head becoming heavier. A whimper escaped me as I swore I heard something cracking inside my head. I wanted to scream as I felt the pain racing through my skull, but I kept quiet, not wanting him to get angrier than he already was.

My heart thundered at the sound of slow, psychopathically calm steps coming closer, stopping right in front of my face. I stared straight ahead, on the snouts of the newly-polished leather shoes.

The pressure from my head was removed, but before I knew it I was yanked up to a sitting position, by an evil-looking, scar-faced man almost pulling my hair out of its roots.

He smiled with shiny white canines, a mocking chuckle leaving him. He gave a quick pull to my hair.

"You didn't actually think it'd be that easy did you? You honestly thought you could leave the party, the building without anyone noticing? That you could just waltz out, sit your fat little ass into a car and wait for someone to drive you off to safety? Oh, please," he laughed manically, the from the sound of it three or four other guys laughing along with him.

He smashed my head into the ground, tears filling my eyes at the impact. Don't cry, they'll just enjoy it more, don't cry, they'll just think it's even more fun, don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.

"Hmm, what do you guys think, should we just end her misery?"

My heart stilled in my chest.

"Why not? Might as well quick out whatever brain remains in that broken skull of hers." the voice was the same one of the guy who'd called me a 'runner'. My blood froze in my veins, preparing for whatever pain there was to follow.

The seconds seemed to last forever, all I was able to hear being their laughter, and their horrible descriptions of what they were gonna do to me, making silent tears travel down my cheeks in fear of which of their promises they were actually going to keep.

Silence fell over the dimly lit parking lot, and I waited anxiously for the first impact, preparing myself for a few broken ribs of a shattered leg.

But when a sharp, hard leather shoe suddenly made violent, hard impact with my left eye, I couldn't keep in the piercing scream that left me, all the way from the back of my throat, at my lung's full force.

Laughter erupted from all of them before it was cut short by a roar. A puppy-like yelp left the scar-faced Alpha that was now laying on the ground, eyes fearful, staring up at a tall shadowed figure, growling lowly, yet so threatening that shivers ran up and down my back repeatedly.

The figure kicked the scar-faced Alpha sharply in the chest, a sickening crunching sound sounding at the impact. The man turned around slowly, letting out a growl at the rest of the men behind me.

The sound of footsteps soon followed before complete silence fell over the parking lot once again, the figure breathing heavily, standing in place, throwing a quick glance back at the slightly pathetic-looking Alpha whimpering and clutching his chest on the ground. The man growled at him. "Get over it, you'll heal within the next 24 hours, there's no reason to act like a pup," he said, pushing the Alpha onto his back with his foot, before turning around and looking down at me.

At the sight of his yellow eyes, a horrible echo of his words started sounding in my head. His, his, his, his, his, his, his.

His pupils dilated from tiny spots in the middle of his eyes to normal size before he kneeled in front of me. I clenched my eyes as he reached out for me, gasping as he picked me up and pulled me close to his chest.

I peaked an eye open, seeing his ever-searching eyes looking over my body, probably double-checking that my reproductive organs hadn't been harmed during the beating.

He hoisted me closer, walking slowly, calmly back to the mansion. My heart stilled in my chest as I noticed the crowd of people who were standing by the doors, watching curiously as I was carried down the pathway.

He stopped a few feet from the front door, before an angry roar left him, making sure he had everyone's attention. I shivered at the sound. The thumb he had on my thigh gently went from side to side a few times... to calm me down, I guess. What the hell is that supposed to mean?

"I will now politely demand that everyone who was outside and passively watching my mate being abused, for their own amusement, to step forward, come clean and receive a suitable punishment, and anyone who does not come clean as of an hour from now will receive an even more ... severe ... punishment. Said punishment will be carried out by me, Alpha Allen, personally,"

As he ended his speech, everyone and everything fell silent, even my heart.

I was the mate of Alpha Allen, the man rumored to be the cruelest and most barbaric Alpha since the middle ages.
