(Song: Heathens by Twenty One Pilots)

I wake up the next day to Harry nudging my shoulder. "Time for school, sleepy head," he says, leaning down by my ear.

I groan and sit up. "Do I have to?" I ask, already knowing what the answer was going to be.

"Yes, you have to," Harry says. "Come on," he grabs my hand and helps me sit up. "I'll meet you downstairs in a few minutes."

I nod my head while rubbing my eyes. "Okay," I groan. He places a kiss on my head before leaving the room.

Harry's lucky. He doesn't have to go to school. And he can stay in his pajamas all day. I can't wait to be an adult.

Eventually, I convince myself to get out of bed and walk over to my closet. I end up putting on a white T-shirt and a pair of overalls. I slide on a pair of yellow vans and walk downstairs after applying some light makeup and combing through my hair.

"Good morning. You awake now?" Harry chuckles when I sit down.

"Yeah, I guess," I say. Harry slides me a yogurt and a bowl of fruit. I begin picking at the fruit.

"Are we still going to get my dress for the dance tonight?" I ask, remembering Harry's promise to me yesterday.

"Yup. After we finish your homework, we can head to the mall," he says. Of course he had to bring up homework.

"Or we can do the homework part after," I suggest.

"Nice try, but no," he says. "Don't forget to eat your yogurt, love," he points toward my unopened yogurt.

I nod my head, but I still was feeling a little upset with my body. I didn't want to ruin my morning thinness by eating something as dense as yogurt.

I finished the whole yogurt so Harry wouldn't be suspicious, but I promised myself not to eat my lunch. Harry threw away my yogurt and cleared my empty fruit bowl right as the doorbell rang.

"Bye, Dad," I say, getting up and giving him a hug.

"Bye, El. See you after school," he says, hugging me back.

I grab my backpack and run outside to meet my friends. "Hey," I say, shutting the door behind me.

"Hi," Ryan smiles at me. I just noticed that he has dimples, which I think is really cute.

We begin walking toward school and meet Scarlett at the corner of our street.

On our walk, Ryan holds my hand. I can tell he was a little nervous when he did, but I don't blame him, I was too. We weren't anything official, and I'm not even sure if he would want to be in an actual relationship with me. He could just feel bad for me because I don't have a date to the dance.

Once we arrive at school, Rachel, Claire, Evan, and Ryan leave to go to their first period after saying goodbye to me and Scarlett. "What's your first period?" I ask her as we continue walking down the hall toward our lockers.

"I have algebra with Mrs. Brown," she says. "Ugh, I hate math."

"Oh my god! We have algebra together! Thank god! You're probably the only sane person in that class," I say, relieved that I would have someone to talk to now. "My ex is in that class, and he can get pretty annoying."

"Oh no. You'll have to point him out so I can beat him up," she laughs.

"I'll do that," I say back with a smile.

We both stop at our lockers and put our stuff away, grabbing what we need for first period.

When we get to class, the bell rings just as we walk in. Mrs. Brown is at her desk and I walk over to her, Scarlett following close behind. "Good morning, Mrs. Brown," I say.

"Good morning, ladies. You must be Scarlett," she says standing up and holding her hand out for Scarlett to shake.

"Yup, that's me," she smiles.

"Well, I'm Mrs. Brown. You can sit next to Ellie in the empty seat as long as you two don't cause any disruptions to the class. I'm happy to have you here," she says.

"Ok, thank you," Scarlett says before we both walk away to our desks.

"Hey, Ellie," Kyle whispers from his desk in front of ours.

"What do you want?" I ask, rolling my eyes afterward.

"Who's your friend?" He asks. "She's hot." God, he was so immature. I can't believe I ever dated him.

"Shut up, Kyle. Don't talk to us," I groan.

"Oh yeah? Make me," he says with a smirk on his face. "Make me shut up."

Before I have the chance to say anything, Mrs. Brown interrupts. "Kyle! Ellie! Do we have questions on the worksheet?" She asks.

"No, Mrs. Brown," Kyle says, turning around to face the front of class like he was supposed to.

"Okay, then let's save the chit chat for later," she says.

"Looks like I don't have to," I mumble quietly so Mrs. Brown couldn't hear but Kyle could. He turns around to face and squints his eyes at me before looking back at the front of class.

"That's the ex," I whisper to Scarlett. "He's insane."

"I can tell," she chuckles. "His looks are nothing compared to Ryan's," she playfully nudges my shoulders.

"Oh god, shut up," I say lightheartedly. "I don't even know if he likes me. He just asked me to the dance as a friend I'm pretty sure."

"Wow, okay, so you're completely oblivious," she laughs. "He's so into you. It's obvious."

"Really?" I ask, unsure if she was telling the truth.

"Yeah, you two just need to make it official already. You're perfect for each other," she says.

"I'm glad you think so. I do really like him," I say. "I just hope he'll ask me to be his girlfriend officially."

"He will. Trust me," she says. "Sadly, I should probably attempt some math problems."

"Yeah, me too," I say sigh and look down at the paper in front of me.

What Harry had taught me helped a little, but I still couldn't do the whole problem since this was a more complex problem. I peer over at Scarlett's paper and see that she's already on the second problem.

So she's pretty, nice, thin, and smart. I wish I was more like Scarlett.
