Chapter 89 - Thanks For Being In The Play With Me

Saturday had finally come. We were all silently dreading it's arrival.

The ways in which I wake up differ on a daily basis. Although, this morning was new, Lin didn't blast music into my room, he didn't yell at me to get up,(he was yelling this from his bed), my alarm didn't go off, I wasn't shaken awake, Tobi didn't jump on me, and neither did Sebastian. Nope, this morning I woke up when Lin lifted me out of bed, and, using a fireman carry, brought me into the dining room, and sat me down at my usual place at the breakfast table.

"Good morning to you too." I said, once he had set me down.

"Morning Niñita." He said, yawning.

"If you don't mind my asking, why didn't you just tell me to get up? I mean, instead of just picking me up."

"It was easier this way," he said taking a sip of coffee, "I mean, no complaining, no 5 hours getting the blankets off, and you weigh like 10 pounds." He shrugged.

"You're a little off in the weight department." I smiled a little.

"By how much." He laughed a little.

"Um... 119 pounds off." I responded.

"Wait what?" He asked, he looked surprised, and I looked back with confusion, "you weigh 129 pounds?" He asked.

"Yeah, I know, I'm trying to loose weight." I admitted.

"I know you're trying to loose weight, do you think I'm blind? You're what? 5'10"?" He asked, and I nodded. "Niñita, you don't need to loose weight, at this point you need to gain weight."

"That's matter of opinion." I mumbled.

"Yeah, no it's not." I looked at him confused. "Look up height to weight charts. You're underweight." He took a large gulp out of his mug, and I started fiddling with my fingers on the table.

"Dada!!" I heard Seb running into the room, reaching up for Lin.

"Homeboy!" Lin exclaimed, standing up and picking Sebastian up. "What do you want for breakfast?" He asked, smiling.

"Raisins." Sebastian giggled.

"Ok. Come on." He held Sebastian by his waist and started for the kitchen, turning his son into an airplane.

"Dada! I wanna be a train!" I heard him yell.

"You do?" Lin asked, then got down on all fours with Sebastian, making train noises as the 2 of them crawled into the kitchen.

"Now that is the man I married." Vanessa sat down next to me with her mug of coffee. "How'd you sleep?" She asked.

"Good." I replied, "how about you?"

"Not enough. I fell asleep late last night. I was up working on something."

"What were you working on?" I asked.

"It was..." She started but was cut off by her husband.

"CHUGGINGTON!" He ran towards the TV, holding Sebastian, who was, in turn holding a bag of raisins.

"I married a 5 year old." Vanessa whispered to herself, as if she was just now realizing this.

"There's still coffee in the kitchen right?" I asked, standing up.

"Yeah." She replied, lost in thought. I walked into the kitchen, retrieved my Hamilton mug from the cabinet, and poured myself coffee, so that I too, could have energy. I dragged myself back out to the table, and sat back down.

"How do you think Lins going to take it?" I asked.

"Huh, what?" Vanessa responded, she was obviously deep in thought.

"Groffs leaving." I said.

"Oh, yeah, he's not happy about it."

"Rory seems pretty great though. Especially because I'm a big Book of Mormon fan." I admitted.

"Yeah, I hope he fits in."

"RORY IS THE BOMB!" I heard Lin yell from the couch. "I WOULDN'T OF HIRED HIM IF HE WASN'T THE BOMB." He continued and I cracked up.

"I haven't met him yet." Vanessa whispered to me.

"Neither have I. He'll be there today though." I replied.

"FOR THE ORDER OF THE GARTER!" Lin yelled.

"Oh dear me." I said, shaking my head.

Before long, we were pulling up in front of the theater, and I swear, Lin was already on the verge of tears. We got there at call, so, 2 hours early, and I decided to be social, daring move I know.

I was hanging out on the stairs near the stage door with Karla. Let me tell you, Karla is literally just the sweetest person alive. We were greeting the cast as they walked in, and still managed to hold a conversation about the probability of someone breaking character during Groffs last show.

"Do you think Lin'll break?" I asked, trying to stretch, because TBH I never exercise.

"I don't know, you know him better than I do." She shrugged and pushed down on my leg to help me.

"Well, I know he's going to cry, I mean, he cried during a dog food commercial last night."

"Yeah, but onstage." Karla specified.

"Um. Maybe, maybe in The Reynolds Pamphlet. From what I hear he's different onstage."

"He is. Not good or bad, just different." She admitted.

"HOUR AND A HALF TILL CURTAIN!" Voltaire yelled into the staircase, "YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!" I rolled my eyes, and then music started blaring.

"PRE-SHOW WARM UP!" Oak ran out of his dressing room, dancing and jumping. After a couple minutes I finally gave in, and started dancing on the stairs.

So, if any of you ever wanted to make a good first impression on someone, dancing to Kendrick Lamar in a crowded hallway is definitely the way to do it, because this is when Rory showed up.

"Ok." He said slowly, looking at all of us. It was awkward for a second, until Thayne grabbed his hand and started to pull him into our mini-dance session. Soon, Rory was going from person to person, dancing with everyone until he finally got to me. "You're the one person here I don't know. What's your name, and if you don't mind, how old are you?" He asked.

"My names Abigail, I'm 15." I replied.

"Then what are you doing here?" He asked.

"I work here! I sell merchandise." I yelled this over the music.

"Oh! You're Lins kid. Ok. Sorry, makes sense now." He smiled, and shook my hand.

"Most of us just call her Kid, or The Kid, feel free to." Anthony said, walking past us.

"Anthony, I think you're the only one who calls me that."

"Yes, but every else should." He smiled. "See you later Kid." Anthony said, and disappeared into his dressing room.

"Well, I'm going to go say hi to Leslie. Bye, um... Abigail, um... Kid." With that he left.

Griff leaving brought me to tears. Lin gave a wonderful speech, Kimmy and Jennifer made a cake, and most of all we said goodbye to Jonathan Groff. He was so funny, and so perfectly suited for the role. I'm really going to miss him, but Rory seems awesome and I can't wait to have him around more often.

I can't do questions today because I'm literally falling asleep as I write this, so, questions open for:

Nick

Mr and Mrs Walter

Abigail's Friends

(Franchesca

Josie

Georgia

Lexi)

Misc.

And, I'm adding myself. So, if you have any questions you want to ask me you can, literally just anything. It can range from favorite color, to something deep and insightful, also, you can ask why I did something in the book. I won't spoil the book, if you ask about the future in the book, I'll tell you what I have planned without fully telling you, because we're not going to spoil.

Thanks for reading (also, this was me when Groff left Hamilton)

(I'm in the white) (I'm crying) (the inspiration for Josie is the one in the front in black.)
