Having the face the group while trying to hide the fact that she was kissing Levi in the hallway of Molly and Nico's family's home only moments before was not something Adelaide had ever thought she would have to experience.

Levi walked about without seemingly a care in the world. None of this bothered him. He didn't think about what would happen if anybody in the group found out what they were doing. Adelaide wasn't quite sure if she could pinpoint exactly what she thought everyone's reactions would be like but she surely did not want to find out any time soon.

Levi hadn't said a word after the event in the hallway. After they stopped, he walked back outside and didn't look back. That left a frazzled Adelaide to look for the sunscreen she had planned to in the first place.

It didn't take long and it left her feeling underprepared for going back outside. She didn't have a choice, though.

Molly was just about to open the door when Adelaide stepped out, bottle of sunscreen in hand.

"There you are." Molly smiled, shoulders relaxing slightly. "I was just about to come help you look for it."

Adelaide smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. Didn't know where to look really."

"Oh don't worry. Someone is always moving anything and everything around in that house. Finding anything is a feat in and of itself." Molly brushed it off, leaving Adelaide to sig in relief.

The two girls fell into step next to each other as they walked back over to Nessa. They were just coming up the dock as Ryan snuck up on her, picking her up and plunging into the water. Adelaide and Molly laughed as Nessa's flailed and tried to hit Ryan anywhere and everywhere.

Regardless, Nessa didn't bother to get back out again and instead enjoyed soaking up the cool water.

Molly quickly layered up on sunblock before jumping into the water as well, leaving Adelaide.

Adelaide had gotten mostly everywhere herself except her back. Looking around, she spotted Wyatt just coming out of the water.

"Wyatt?" She called, grabbing his attention. "Do you mind helping me put some of this on my back?"

She felt awkward asking him of all people, especially after not only kissing Levi but also hearing him express his opinions on what he thought of Wyatt's relationship to Adelaide.

"Of course, A." He took the bottle from her hands and began rubbing some of the sun lotion into her back.

Adelaide felt relieved when she noticed how efficiently he was helping her. There were no lingering touches that insinuated any less than pure intentions. If Levi's theory on Wyatt having a crush on her was correct, this was not proving it. Wyatt was just being a friend and Adelaide felt her previous concerns wash away.

In fact she was so grateful that when he was done, she turned around and gave him a huge hug. She realized the hug was more out of relief than gratitude, but what Wyatt didn't know wouldn't hurt him.

"Adelaide..." Levi's warning rang clear as Adelaide pulled away from a confused Wyatt who wasted no time heading into the house.

Adelaide smiled at Levi before turning and sitting at the edge of the dock, letting her legs dangle in the water. Levi joined, sitting right next to her.

She was trying her hardest to stop her smile but just couldn't. She could tell it was beginning to piss Levi off but for all the wrong reasons. He was misunderstanding why she was so happy.

"He doesn't like me." Adelaide finally said, still smiling.

Levi scoffed.

"He really doesn't." Adelaide paused, turning her head to look at Levi. "I know what it looked like and that's because I asked him to do that."

Levi quirked an unimpressed brow but didn't bother to look back at her.

"I asked him for help putting on sunscreen and he could've taken the opportunity to...I don't know...feel around? He didn't though. He doesn't like me, Levi." Adelaide sighed happily as she looked back out at the water.

Levi didn't say anything. He didn't even truly acknowledge that Adelaide had said anything at all. The only thing that gave away that he had been listening was the way his shoulders slightly relaxed and his face almost softened.

"The fuck are you two doing? Get in here." Nico called from the water.

Adelaide laughed and slipped in, swimming out to join them. Levi came too. All of them then played marco polo until their stomachs clenched from both hunger and laughter.

The rest of the weekend passed just like this. The group laughed and played games and relaxed. It was exactly the weekend they all needed.

Levi didn't pay much attention Adelaide's way again and she didn't know whether to be relieved or disappointed about it. He was just all too confusing to her.

Even on the drive back to school, whilst sitting on his lap again, Levi made no attempts to interact with her. The only thing that gave Adelaide a clue as to his acknowledgement of her presence was his thumb rubbing slow, steady circles into her hip as he held her still against him.

In all honesty, her emotions were beginning to reach a boiling point. Adelaide couldn't continue with the constant back and forth, hot and cold behavior that Levi often exhibited. It left her constantly feeling burned and she couldn't take it anymore.

By the time Nico pulled into the parking lot and everyone was stepping out, Adelaide had made up her mind.

"Walk me back?" She asked Levi after grabbing her bag.

Her gave her a curious look but nodded his head nonetheless.

After thanking Molly and Nico for hosting a lovely, much needed weekend, Adelaide and Levi departed to her dorm.

Neither of them uttered a word the whole way. Adelaide was holding her tongue, biting back all the thoughts that threatened to escape. She wasn't sure what Levi's excuse was.

"Levi..." She finally broke their streak of silence upon reaching her dormitory's front doors.

He hummed in response, sparing her a fleeting glance.

"I-" She paused, trying to collect her thoughts instead of word vomiting like she desperately wanted to. ''Stop talking to me, stop kissing me, stop-just stop doing anything to me if you're going to pretend I don't exist the rest of the time. It makes me feel used and stupid and confused and just-just stop. I'm tired of trying to understand what you do to me, so just leave me alone if you're going to act like that."

Adelaide saw Levi's jaw clench but beyond that, he just stared at her. She imagined he was just trying to process all of her words but it didn't make the returned silence any more comfortable.

Adelaide waited a minute to see if he had any response but after standing there, painfully aware that he wasn't going to say anything, she left him standing where he was and hauled her bag inside and into her room where she spent the rest of the day fighting back tears over her self proclaimed 'silly' feelings.
