(y/n's perspective)

It was already late afternoon when I realised that today was valentines day-, not like I ever do anything special for this day anyway.

Since I did leave Kenma alone back at the apartment, I might as well buy him something he likes. Apple pie from the usual pastry shop we always go to should be fine, yeah.

I packed my stuff and left the coffee shop. Today's shops are really full and I don't think I can last another second being alone in a room full of couples.

Every corner of this street is nicely decorated with plastered red cupid silhouettes and big hearts with the cringiest quotes. This day is a fucking eyesore.

Seriously, why did they have to make the fourteenth of February a love day, maybe if someone actually asked me then I may understand why people like valentines. Now I'm just being petty.. how stupid.

My steps halted when I saw someone familiar by the bus shed. It was Kuroo talking to a girl I don't recognise. I don't think I'll bother saying hello, just gonna wish him luck on this little date of his through spiritual and emotional means if that's even a thing.

Now that I think of it, when was the last time I was ever romantically involved with someone? I don't want to think of Kenma but I will admit that I can definitely see him being my- someone's boyfriend.

It's also really confusing if I only like him platonically or romantically.

My thoughts abruptly stopped for a bit when I passed the game store. I decided to look for something Kenma would want to play before I continue on my way.

It took a little longer than expected but eventually I found a game fit for what he usually plays. The cashier seems to be happy to see me again for the umpteenth time this week and I gave him the same bright expression.

"Let me guess, for your boyfriend?" He chuckled.

I immediately shook my head and bitterly looked at him. He looked like he was having fun teasing me as his laugh gradually got louder.

After he finally put the game in the bag, I quickly headed for the door to avoid any more teasing remarks from this man. To my surprise, he said something that actually made my heart beat in a much rapid pace.

"I think you can also tell with how he acts whenever you're around." I lastly heard him when the door then closed. I don't want to think any more about his words but somehow, I'm now left with more thoughts. That cashier is so nosy holy shit.

I actually just realised now that I'm only thinking of how I feel about Kenma just because people keep pointing out how closer we are with one another than others and it's really fucking with my head..

________

I made my way to the pastry shop only to be greeted with a large stuffed crowd.

As I looked around, I realised this was an event. At one corner, there were couples dancing together and at another area, someone was making portraits of people.

What's worse is the shop is at the very corner of this enclosed space. I could get lost finding my way back if I can't see atleast the fountain or street lamps.

I sighed and braced myself to go in this crowd.

"You're also going to the pastry shop?"

I looked to my side though before I could even process who it was, they immediately intertwined their hand with mine and walked through the crowd.

This was an experience..

"I thought you were gonna do something back at the apartment?" I gasped as Kenma scoffed and looked back at me, "I got hungry."

I swear, I feel like this guy always know where to find me.

He seemed embarrassed basing from his expression. His face is really red and he acts quite jittery. Does this guy have a fever or something-

"Oh, it's right there." He exclaimed, leading me to the direction of the shop.

Once we finally got inside, I now had a proper view of him. He looked really stunning in his... suit?

"Here." Kenma said in a panicked tone as he hands me a bouquet of red roses. I'm so glad he was looking at another direction because not only am I confused but I can also feel my face burning from embarrassment and curiosity.

I was in complete shock that I could only spat out a very quiet thank you.

I scanned the bouquet, thinking for words to not make the room awkward.

"I really like your suit. What's the occasion?" I looked up at him with a genuine smile. He is such a pretty guy.

"I was set up for a blind date by Kuroo but I got too scared so I left." He mumbled quite angrily. I just laughed in response.

"And you were supposed to give these flowers to her?" I continued.

"No. That was meant for you dumbass." He pat me on the head a bit more harshly than before and I could only grunt to his action.

"I see you're quite the gentleman huh? I really appreciate it." He finally stopped and squinted his eyes at me. "Let's go sit somewhere." He quickly turned his back at me and started walking away.

I asked him to go find a seat while I go order us something to eat. He agreed and momentarily took the bouquet with him.

I walked up to the person behind the glassed treats and told her what to get. Luckily there was still a lot of slices of apple pie sitting at the back despite the amount of costumers today. She handed me the tray and I went to look for Kenma.

He sat at one of the tables outside looking very happy.

(3rd Person Perspective)

"Don't you feel hot in that suit?"

"I am actually, so let's go home."

Even if he didn't say it, Kenma treated this as an actual date since originally, he wanted to ask y/n out for today but didn't have the confidence to do so.

It was also true that Kuroo set him up for a blind date but he didn't want to spend the day with a girl he wasn't interested in, thus taking his leave and going to find y/n.

"Alright. Let's go." she instructed although he stood up much quicker to hold out his hand.

"What is it?"

"You don't want to get lost, don't you?" He brashly cocked his head to the side.

"Yeah, yeah. I get it." Once again, the two held hands as they set off to go 'home'.

"You don't want to go anywhere else?" she almost had to shout just for Kenma to hear amidst the crowd.

"You don't want to spend time together back at the apartment?" He uttered, not looking back at her.

_______

"Have you actually finished what you were supposed to be doing?" y/n initiated a conversation while they walk back.

"I have. I'm a responsible person unlike you, you know?" They both chuckled.

Their apartment was in view and the two never felt more relieved to finally be able to relax.

"I was planning to stream today so I'll leave you for a bit as soon as we get back."

"Greeting your fangirls a happy valentines?" y/n teased.

"Maybe I will if you join the stream." Kenma let go and went in first.

"Since when did he get so flirtatious.." she mumbled and followed him inside. Kenma really was in a rush as the door upstairs closed abruptly, echoing a loud thud. y/n sighed and went up to her room as well.

After changing clothes, she went to go lie down on her bed. The roses were sat beside the window contained in a vase.

Then moving and removing the blanket, it revealed a note that wrote 'happy valentines' in Kenma's handwriting with a small cat drawing on it too. Beside the letter was a huge heart shaped chocolate that god knows where the heck he got. Y/n was left with a confused yet soft expression once again.

Her phone lit up showing a stream notification from her roommate and a message next to it, 'save some chocolates for me :)'

She now quite understood too what's so special about valentines.
