It happened, me and Neteyam were mates. We spent the rest of the night together lounging on top of a sand bank besides the spirit tree, tangled in each others arms. I turned to face my mate, his eyes were softly shut and his arm was draped around my waist.

"Morning" he smiled, not yet opening his eyes. "Good morning" I responded and I couldn't help but smile at his sleeping face. He opened his eyes to look at me and quickly captured my lips in his. "How is my mate?" He asked, my heart picking up at the word mate.

"I feel amazing" I responded as he tightened his grip around me and rolled on top of me kissing down my neck and my chest. A small laugh escaped my lips at his soft touch, I loved this man with everything in me. He stopped and looked me in my eyes before reaching around his back and holding a closed hand out to me.

"Happy birthday" he smiled as he opened his hand and inside was a shiny chain of gold. My eyes widened in shock at how small and beautiful it was as he took my wrist and clasped it around it. "It's beautiful" I gasped as I looked between it and Neteyam. "A beautiful thing for a beautiful girl" he spoke and I grinned like a mad woman.

"How am I ever meant to top this for your birthday?" I asked, unable to think of a day that would ever be better than is. "You could do it by topping me" he whispered in my ear. "But why wait for my birthday when we can do it now"

We slowly made our way back to the clan, just enjoying each others company but when we returned we wished we had sooner. The entire clan was stood in a large swarm, surrounding the Chief and his wife, spears and armour ready.

"What's going on?" I asked as I ran to Tsireya's side as Neteyam did the same to Lo'ak. "They killed my mothers spirit sister, her Tulkun" she said through tears. The clan screamed to fight, wanting to protect their people from the sky clan but Jake was desperate to not allow them.

"All that matters is saving your family" Jake finished and the clan calmed down, no one wanted their loved ones to die. And everyone began to disperse, warning their spirit sisters and brothers of the threat that could come their way.

Tsireya looked heart broken at what had occurred, as any person would. "It's okay" i whispered as i threw my arms around her and hugged her tightly. "How was last night?" She asked, drawing back from me with a small smile which I couldn't help but return.

I didn't have to say anything as she looked me up and down and her eyes widened. "Oh my Eywa" she gasped, shock filling her voice. "You mated" she gasped once more and I needed coyly in confirmation. "Aren't you sixteen?" She asked, slightly concerned of my age. "Actually I'm seventeen" I said quietly and her eyes widened even more. "Is it your birthday?" She whisper yelled which I was thankful for, glad she wasn't yelling it to everyone.

I nodded again and she squealed, wrapping her arms around me this time. I was glad to see that I had cheered her up slightly. "Holy Eywa that's so romantic" she grinned as we walked to the edge of the village but as we got there we could see Neteyam and Lo'ak arguing about something.

"What's going on?" I asked as I ran up to my mate and his brother. "No I'm you're brother" I heard Neteyam yell as Lo'ak dived into the water and swam off on his Ilu. "Come on, he's going to Payakan" Neteyam said to me and the others that had formed around us. He grabbed my hand and we both dived into the water, calling out Ilu's and chasing after Lo'ak.

"Lo'ak" I yelled as he surfaced above the water, looking back to me and going back under as he passed by Kiri and Tuk. "He's going to find Payakan" Neteyam yelled towards them and they joined us as we desperately followed after the youngest sully boy.

"Payakan" Lo'ak began to yell his name as he was thrashing about in the ocean. And as we approached Lo'ak was stood on his fin, pulling at pinger when the sky people's boat turned around the corner and was coming straight towards us. Quickly I hopped off my Ilu and climbed onto Payakan's fin and tried to pull out the blinker with Lo'ak, Neteyam and Ao'nung but it wasn't moving.

I screamed im frustration as the thing wasn't moving. "Call dad" Neteyam yelled to Lo'ak. "Call him" he yelled again and Lo'ak obliged. We kept trying to pull it out and the boat was nearing but it would not move. "Pass me some rope" I yelled to Neteyam. "Off the Ilu, pass me it" I stated again as he passed me the rope.

I tied it tightly around the pinger before jumping onto the back of my Ilu and tying it around him. "Pull" I yelled as i willed my Ilu to swim forward as quick as he could. I could tell it was hurting slightly as I could feel it too through our connection but it was this or lose a whole Tulkun and we couldn't let that happen.

With everyone pulling and it connected to my Ilu, the pinger removed itself from Payakan and everyone went flying off him and into the water. "Go that way, I will draw them out" I yelled as I held the beeping tracker in my hand. Neteyam swung his leg over my Ilu and I didn't have time to object as we swam down into the ocean and away from everyone else, drawing the sky people away.

We were under for less than thirty seconds when a large explosion erupted from under the water, knocking us both to the side but we managed to keep a hold and kept going forwards. I looked back towards my mate before dropping the blinker down to the bottom of the ocean and swimming off.

It wasn't long before large swimming machines were surrounding the waters near us, their lights blinding through the ocean. I did my best to avoid them but there was too many and they were too quick against us and my Ilu. Swatting my hand in front of me, keeping all see life out of my face. There was one large leaf in front of us and I pushed it to the side but behind it revealed a machine with a large claw hand outstretched towards us.

We both jumped from the Ilu, barely missing its grasp. Quickly we swam out of its reach but we ended up either side of it, not being together any more. "Go, I will find you" I signed to Neteyam before swimming away from the machine once more. I looked around me and could not see anyone or any machine but out of no where one came out but it wasn't headed for me, it was after Lo'ak, Tuk and Tsireya as they swam out of a large plant that it destroyed mere seconds after.

I tried to swim closer to help them but as soon as I did a large net was thrown over them, capturing them all. I swam as fast as I could to reach them but there wasn't enough time as the net with all of them inside was picked up out the water. I wanted to scream at what had just happened but there wasn't any time, I needed my bow.

I called my Ilu from under the water and she came swimming up besides me, allowing me to grip onto her as she swam towards the village. As I arrived it was empty, no one was there, they had all gone to fight. I jumped off my Ilu, running to our tent to grab my weapon. Once I did I yipped out into the air, calling upon my spirit brother.

LΓΌjan landed a few feet in front of me, a loud roar tearing from his throat as I connected us and flew to where the battle was about to begin. I circled around the demon ship, keeping my distance in case something were to happen. Jake, Neytiri and the rest of the Metayika clan were swarmed opposite the ship waiting to attack.

I searched around for anyone else and that is when I saw Lo'ak, Tuk and Tsireya tied up against the front of the ship. I pulled my bow tight letting a war cry sound through the air as i aimed my bow at the sky people's head. I was ready to attack but the others weren't moving, they were still in the water until Jake began to swim forwards slowly, on his own. Anger boiled through me at what he was doing.

He was sacrificing himself.
