Elle

22nd January

After Ace's revelation last weekend, we had been absolutely inseparable. I had barely stepped foot into the dorms because I was staying at his place every night, and this was much to Delilah's dismay who told me I was abandoning my best friend and I was some sort of traitor. She was being her usual dramatic self. However, she had managed to guilt me into a party, saying it was only right seeing as I had abandoned her.

"Where is that boyfriend of yours? I want to go," Delilah whined, we were waiting outside the dorms for Ace to pull up in his car and Delilah had began complaining immediately because it was cold and she was wearing the skimpiest dress I had ever seen. I had settled for a long-sleeved dress that fell mid-thigh with a plunging neckline, so it was party attire but I was still slightly warmer.

It was only a few moments until I saw Ace's car pull into the parking lot and Delilah immediately jogged over to it, leaving me to trail behind her. She had gotten herself into the back seat and so I slid into the passengers seat, grinning when Ace leaned over and pressed his lips to mine. "God, please don't make me gag," Delilah commented from the back of the car.

"Says you," I retorted, closing the car door behind me so that Ace could start up the car and begin our journey to the party which was happening about five minutes from the dorms. It was a group of students who lived in the same house throwing the party together, so it was a decently sized place to hold loads of drunk students.

Delilah muttered back 'says you' in a childish voice, obviously not having a good comeback to my comment so she had to resort to juvenile tactics. "So how many times are you two going to sneak off to fuck tonight?" She teased, and I watched Ace to see him roll his eyes.

"Stop being a child, Delilah, it's not a good look on you," he said in a monotonous tone and she huffed, sitting back in her chair, realising she wasn't irking Ace or I in the way she wanted to.

Ace subtly moved his hand so it was resting on my thigh as he drove the rest of the way to the party, distracting me by rubbing his thumb against the bare skin. He knew what he was doing and it drove me crazy, and I could tell by the small grin on his lips that he was enjoying every moment of this torture.

Ace pulled the car up not too far from the house and we all got out, Delilah immediately holding onto my arm and dragging us both into the house with Ace following behind. The house was already thumping with music and had swarms of students grinding on each other and heavily drinking in the front room. "Do you want a drink?" She asked, her lips close to my ear so I could hear.

I nodded. "Yeah, sure," I nodded, looking behind me to ensure that Ace was still following us, which he was. He followed us through the front room and into the kitchen which was noticeably quieter, where I made my own drink for once with some Vodka and lemonade.

"Whoops," Delilah winked at me as she poured some extra Vodka in my cup after saying I hadn't put anywhere near enough in. I rolled my eyes at her but shrugged, taking a sip of the drink anyway. Ace grabbed himself a beer from the fridge and then joined me, wrapping his arm around my waist. "Shall we find the others?" She asked and I looked up at Ace who nodded.

"Sure," he agreed and we pushed through the crowds of people once again to get to the social room, where people were stood around chatting. Only Maya and Kit were sat together, so we waked over to them and Delilah immediately draped herself over her girlfriend's lap and connected their lips.

Ace sat down on the couch and pulled me onto his lap, pressing a kiss to my neck. "I want to get seriously drunk tonight, you in guys?" Delilah looked in between Maya and I, and we both looked unsure. "C'mon, you can't leave me to get drunk alone!"

I sighed. "I'm not going to get blackout, but I'll drink with you," I said to her and she shrieked in happiness.

"You realise now you've sealed your fate," Kit laughed at me and I groaned, nodding at him.

"We need to play a drinking game," Delilah said excitedly as James joined the group with Nina clinging to him. Since Ace had basically dumped the girl, she had began trying it with James, which he didn't seem to mind when it came to making out with her but any other time he seemed rather annoyed with her presence.

"We're not playing Never Have I Ever again, I swear that game is the worst," I said loudly and she huffed but agreed.

"Most likely to? Each person will say something like 'most likely to fuck on the first date' and we all point to whoever we think, whoever gets the most fingers pointed at them needs to drink," she said and I nodded, that game seemed pretty harmless.

Ace and I separated for the game, so people could see who they were pointing to and so did Delilah and Maya. "Most likely to cry after sex," Delilah said with a laugh and we all immediately pointed, I pointed at James along with Maya but most people pointed at Ace.

"How the fuck is that me?" Ace asked before taking a long gulp of his beer.

"You can't always be this stoic, I won't accept that," Maya teased and I chuckled, but shook my head when Ace snapped his gaze to me and jokingly glared at me. I stuck out my tongue at him in response.

"Most likely to Google sex tips," Kit said and I pointed at Nina, as did everyone else which made her angrily gulp down her drink, muttering that she was highly experienced. She was more mad that both James and Ace pointed to her, two people she had slept with.

"Most likely to get pregnant within the next year," James said, and I pointed at Nina as she was the only other heterosexual girl here, as did Ace, but all other fingers pointed at me.

Ace choked on his own spit whereas I just took a few gulps of my drink, not wanting to think about the implications. "Just imagine mini Ace and Elle's, they'd be so cute," Maya and Delilah gushed to each other.

 "Ugh, gross," Nina shuddered childishly.

"Nope," Ace said sternly to Delilah who just winked at him.

We played a few more rounds, and by the end I was feeling a little bit light-headed but overall okay. That was until Delilah came stumbling in with shot glasses and a bottle of tequila, where we all but Ace proceeded to take shot after shot until I was nearly throwing up. Ace was driving us all home and so he had stopped at one beer, saying he would overlook the rest of us to make sure nothing bad happened.

"Okay, that might be enough shots," he chuckled and I nodded, sitting back in my seat with my head spinning.

"Hey, they're playing suck and blow! Let's go and play," Delilah said and urged the rest of us to follow. I slotted myself between Delilah and Ace, others protested and said we had to be in girl-guy format but Delilah spat back that she was gay and wouldn't be caught dead kissing a guy, and I'd much rather kiss Delilah than a random guy. The other side of Ace was Nina, and my blood boiled thinking about them kissing again.

The game started and people began passing the card to each-other, it got to Nina and James, where the card floated to the ground and they began eating each others faces until they were pulled apart by the person beside them. Nina then handed it to Ace, I had expected her to drop it to spite me, but she didn't and just as predicted, Ace purposefully let the card drop from his lips before he even got anywhere near me. He then pressed his lips against mine and moved them gently, his tongue teasing my mouth, but we both soon pulled apart realising we were in company.

I passed the card to Delilah and it went around the circle once again. That time, though, Nina did drop the card between her and Ace and he grimaced, pressing a kiss to her cheek instead which she rolled her eyes at. I smiled, though, thankful that he respected me in that way. We continued to play that game, and I kissed Ace a few more times and Delilah only once, until I needed a wee.

"I'm going to tinkle," I said with a fumbled tipsy giggle as we walked away from the game we were playing.

"I'll take you," Ace said back to me.

"It's fine, I'll take her. I need to pee anyway," Delilah said, hooking her arm with mine. "I promise I'll get her back in one piece," she said, wrapping her pinky around Ace's for a pinky promise which he made a face at, but went to sit down nevertheless to let Delilah take me to the toilet.

We walked upstairs together, and I collapsed into the toilet rather tipsily whilst Delilah fumbled with the lock on the door so nobody walked in on us. "Did you know, Ace told me he loved me?" My words came out slightly slurred as I peed, and Delilah's eyes almost bulged out of their sockets as I told her.

"He did what? I've known that man for like six years and I've only ever heard him say that to Avery," she said with a shocked tone. I nodded as I finished up my business and stood up to wash my hands as Delilah sat to pee herself.

"He told me what happened when he first started fighting too," I admitted to her, drying my hands on a paper towel.

She quirked her eyebrow. "And? How did you react?" She asked in a serious tone. As much as Delilah and I mess around, she always made sure to check in on me and ensure I was okay. She was a brilliant friend.

I shrugged. "I was shocked, and upset, but he's been through so much. He knows the risks when he fights, and so does every other fighter who does the same as him. It's a tragedy but I don't hate him for it, I just don't like what he chooses to do for a living," I said, watching as Delilah washed her own hands after using the toilet.

"I still remember when it happened, Kit and I were there. Afterwards he beat himself up so much, we begged him to get some help but he just dug himself into this depression he couldn't get out of. I don't think he's ever truly gotten over it," she admitted to me, leaning against the sink as she spoke to me. "He never fights that badly anymore, he holds himself back because he doesn't ever want to go that far again."

"Why is his nickname 'The Killer'? He said a lot of people die in those fights, so why him?" I asked, it had been a question that had been swirling in my mind from when Ace had told me and I recalled Delilah using his fighting nickname back when I watched one of his fights.

"Because he's the youngest person in the ring to have killed someone," she said to me and my eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Most fighters he fights have killed someone, multiple people usually, but they're all in their twenties to thirties. He was eighteen when it happened."

Our conversation was cut short by someone hammering their fist on the bathroom door. "Are you guys fucking in there? Hurry up!" A drunken girl's voice said from the other side. Delilah grabbed her purse and we walked over to the door, throwing it open to reveal a very drunk party-goer.

"Yes, we were fucking, and I didn't get to orgasm because of you," Delilah narrowed her eyes at the drunk girl and I snorted in laughter, shoving her out of the bathroom door to let the poor drunk girl relieve her bladder.

We were walking towards the stairs, giggling and chatting until Delilah paused in her steps and her face dropped. "What? What is it?" I asked, looking around to try and see what she was looking at.

"That's one of Theo's friends," she said, motioning to a man who was standing on the second floor, only a few steps from us, with his eyes trained on where we were stood. "C'mon, we need to go now," she said, grabbing my hand and roughly pulling me down the stairs, shoving random students out of the way as we walked.

I whipped my head around to see the man following us down the steps, and soon enough Delilah and I were basically running to get to Ace and the others, pushing and ramming into drunk partiers. When Ace was in sight, Delilah screamed his name and he turned to look at us, pushing himself up from his seat when he caught a glimpse of the panicked look on my face.

"What's the matter?" He asked, his arms bringing me into his chest, my new favourite safe place.

"One of Theo's men is here," she said, her eyes scanning the door we just walked in from.

Ace's eyebrows furrowed, and he held me a little bit tighter to him. "It's fine, you're safe," he said, pressing a kiss to the top of my head.
